@KOREDOTMAN15 not to be rude but who cares if your your 19 and listening to this song. is that suppose to make you special? well my point is this is Timeless music, so it shouldn't matter what age you are. but its good that you know what real music is :)
This was during the era when women acted like ladies and expected men to be gentlemen. if there was a lady in the group, she was portrayed as such. Intimate moments were subtly implied not X-rated comments demonstrated by the artist and an exotic dancer. But back then people had more "home training" because "Big Momma" took care of the kids. Commercial day care facilities can be sued for "keeping it real." Big Momma could hande any issue without fear of repercussions.
Im 20 years old, i was raised on soul, r&b,rock, rap, classical, jazz, pop and have heard the best and worst of all of them. I feel bad for my generation, who will never know the work and the musicianship of these people. It repersented a time of struggle and progression for African Americans as well the rest of America. I will not say that all music today is bad because there is still good enjoyable music if you look for it, and sometimes i even enjoy the bad stuff with a guilty conscience.
@latenightheavy well said.... not a lot of young people of your age would concur with you. the generation of then as this song represents 'us" and the progression, fight, willpower of every decade that creates an era. Hopefully younger cats as yourself acknowledges what our ancenstors, grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts, uncles etc went through constant bitter humiliation so we could enjoy thr fruits of them. WELL SAID
Can you just imagian the world with out birds singing in the trees....that's how I feel now that all these guys are gone now...it's a sad day for music for sure !
Why can't songs be made like this anymore? The harmonies are sung perfectly. In my opinion, a song can only be attractive if its elaborately written and sung. Unlike some of the popular feces we call music today, this is incomparable.
this is one of those melt your heart like butter on a warm day songs. my, how I miss this type of super-romantic stuff these days! And I'm extremely grateful this mooshy-romantic junk was popular when I was young! I fear today's younger people get way too much sex and not nearly enough romance and moosh!
I love this song by the Miracles. Smokey Robinson is a musical great, with his writng, arranging, and singing.I recorded Ooh Baby Baby, without instruments in 2010. It s on Brucevob on You Tube. Im no Smokey, but check it out. Comments are appreciated.Thank you.
I didn't understand why my mother loved Smokey so much. As I got older, I wanted to understand her MORE. She sang it and told me "You gotta FEEL the music" THANK YOU
im 17 but my mother raised me listening to this ! now i understand when my mum complains to turn that rubbish off on the radio and it would be a song by tpain or justin bieber there songs dont have much meaning its mainly about sex/drugs or something else pointless , i wish i was a teen in the 70s/80s/90s thats where the best music was made ! something i can grove to and not something to dougie or jerk to
Such soul and raw emotion in this genre, that's why I love it and raised my kids on it...music today doesn't have the ability to affect someone deep inside like this does.
I've been in the hospital, and NURSES are coming over to listen to Smokey every chance they get. "Cause it brings the down to there younger days. So far I'm becoming there favorite patient, and I'm LOVIN' IT
Smokey Robinson is second to only Berry Gordy in the founding of Motown. A prolific songwriter, he is credited with 4000 songs and 37 Top 40 hits including "Tears of a Clown", "Tracks of My Tears" and "Love Machine". Smokey also served as vice president of Motown records, writing and producing hits for groups such as the Temptations ("My Girl") and Mary Wells ("My Guy").

All I can say is, umph! This was a time when a man had to woo a woman :-) I feel sorry for these young girls. I don't think men of the younger generations know how to do that.
@ashastar And the men of this generation will never know the pleasure of verbally persuading and successfully enticing a lady FOR A KISS...then came some more sweet words whispered so gently in order to further blossom that relationship...they'll never know...
@robertjosephgreen Why do you hate on black women so much? This is the second comment I've run into where you're deragatory against them...you must have gotten hurt bad by one.
@rassledassle82 Do you want to know why I hate black woman.1.I mind my own business at work and all black woman there make fun of me.I can go no where to escape them.(I live in Atlanta)2.they all like thugs and they would die before they go out with a nice guy like me.3.they all act stuck up just because they have big booty's.4.almost all of them have kids by the time they are my age.(I am 24.)with no father in sight.5.they act so loud and ignorant and abuse the system.
@robertjosephgreen Well, let me respond to this as a "stereotypical" black woman 1) Sounds like you work with some pretty immature ppl; maybe it's the TYPE of venue you work at, not black women as a whole2)I am married to the TOTAL opposite of a thug and have NEVER even once desired to be involved with one3)Women of all races act stuck and and it has to do with ignorance (not booty)4)I am in my late 20s and have NEVER even been pregnant because I use my brain and5)I've NEVER
@robertjosephgreen been on any type of aid and am one of the sweetest women you'll ever meet...Please don't judge a book by it's cover. Not only is it unfair, wrong and ignorant, but it's very hurtful to those of us who are honest, sweet, loving, strong and independant black women. We are always degraded and all put under one unbrella while other races of women are judged individually. This kind of judgement is hurtful, malicious and cruel.
@rassledassle82 Never have i heard that much maturity from a black woman.I am sorry for what I said. You are one example of what a good black woman should be.Its just I have been made fun since high school till now and I have built up a hatred for all black woman.(all black people in general)I will try to change my attitude.
@robertjosephgreen Thank you for your words, and I am sorry that you have been belittled by some blacks - no one deserves that. Trust me when I say, however, that we are not all like this and I think it's a shame that some blacks act like the stereotypes that I am sick of seeing on television. I wish you the best in your endeavors and hope that you find a way to get away from those types of people in general - they are truly toxic.
@elisa412 Would You Know If Claudette Was Related To Any Of The "Motown" Executives? I Must Have Something Wrong Because I Didn't Know Her Last Name Was Rogers.
@Mr7shorty --TOTALLY AGREE!! You could anything ouwant IF you knew how to woo (like Smokey); beg (like James Brown); orjust go OFFlike the old Teddy P ("you got, you got , you got what I need...what i want---throw those panties on the stage :)
I'm 17 and I have to say I have fell in love with this song. Was on the radio today at work and I instantly became infatuated. Oldies that I never knew seem to be the best songs
@shino933 no I don't think that it is wrong for a 15 year old to love. it means that you have good taste in music. I was younger than you are when I fell in love with Smokey's talent
This was a time when music was for real. Not like all the stuff that is out there today. Motown Music was and is still the BEST. This was music for romancing the one you loved..
the kids who call themselves "dog" and "bitch" in our contemporary times, don't even know what romancing is. Do they know what slow dancing and romanticizing is? Listen to the lyrics in songs like this, Stay in my Corner by the Dells, You'll Lose a Precious Love, the Temptations, also written by Smokey Robison, and a plethora of love songs from the 60-70's. What ever happened to parties where slow dancing with the lights dim and rolling with a woman as you danced was our version of sex?
Greatest love song ever. All others are playing for second place. Justin Bieber does not rate -- not on the same planet, in the same galaxy or universe, with Smokey.
One of my favorites, when we were in junior high (back in the 60's it was junior high not middle school) we put Smokey's albums on the record player with the arm over to the side so it would play the LP over and over. Played all night long. Where have those days gone?
What a wonderful song growing up on the westside of chicago in the 8th grade my first love farrell robinson called me and sang this to me on the phone . don,t know how he got my nunber but thanks farrell never will forget you
I Frknnn Love This Sonqq.. I Frkn Love Smokey! Damn Beinqq A 13 Yr Old Nd Yew Still Listenin To This Music Means Yhur Awesome! :D No One Can Over Power, The Power Of The Oldiess.. (:
"...Listen to this melody & you would start wondering how beautiful the lyrics was. It brings down memory road when i was a teen. Yeah i may be old but i'm still young at heart...and i love classical and solid gold oldies music..."
Justin Biebers Baby has 536,581,973 views and this only has 310,147 views, were has the taste in music gone, come on more adults should give this song props ya'll grew up with it, people my age love that Bieber dude for WHAT, this is soulful
@ATeenCalledLame I think it's just the times we live in. Time has changed & we have technology that wasn't aroun back in the day & a lot of the older generation are slow to catching on. I love all types of music but, old school has no comparisons. This is where it all started & the way was paved for our music artists that are doing it today. This is classic music that is standing & will alwys stand the test of time.
@ATeenCalledLame I agree, Beiber is crap compared to these wonderful singers. If his songs have more likes then that tells us that people have lost their sense fo good music.
Wow...those old covers when they started and Smokey's wife was a part of the group are kind of hurtful to look at. They were young and in love then...had kids together...and now are not a couple. It must be hurtful for them, too, to remember how things used to be.
i won first place singing this song at a kareoke contest way back in 1988 in las vegas..won $100.00 and drinks were free all night for my friends and i at the table..lol...it was fun.
i heard this song in my music appreciaiton class, i was told smokey made up this song on the spot while performing. incredible stuff, my teacher said this guy has the most beautiful voice in the world, and he is right.
Smokey Robinson in my opinion was the driving force of Motown records. If it weren't for his singing , song writing, record producing and discovering talent, Motown Records would have never lasted which would have been a terrible loss for America.........................
oo baby baby = million words in a simple passionate and loving manner... that's all you have to say... howl wooooo and baby baby it sayes it all, the girl will understand ;P
THIS SONG HAS TO BE ONE OF HIS BEST.IT'S THE SONG THAT CONVINCED ME MY GIRLFRIEND HAD GREAT TASTE IN MUSIC. SHE LOVED IT TOO.WERE STILL LISTENING TO HIS AND OTHER OLDIES, AFTER 46YRS. THANKS FOR PUTTING ALL THIS GREAT MUSIC ON THE COMPUTER.
Saint Louis Ave. In St Louis Missouri in all the 1960s. Damons waiste line basement parties. This Music made everyone get up. I long for those days of contact dancing. The days when You and Your partner actually made a choreograhic dance. You really made something happen on that floor, and people were really looking at it. Yeah... this is it. This song being beautiful was also sad. but it was kinda upper and a downer song, I don't know, something like that. Thanks for posting it.
Absolutely love this classic music! Brings back great memories of growing up and my parents listening to the radio sunday mornings... thanks for posting.
I grew up with good Motown groups like The Temptations and I must say it's made my ear for music much better. Mad props to the older generation (like my parents) who got me into such magical music. Thank you!!!
What a song and what a singer! Just wonderful. Seal's new version is very good but does not match the original.

@therealhappycamper
Those days are now with the AARP archives, along with my girlish figure.

Love this song....

Got goosebumps when the 'Ooo' bit started. Nothing sounds better than a beautiful soul voice over a Major 7th chord.

Smokey Robinson in my opinion was the driving force of Motown records. If it weren't for his singing , song writing, record producing and discovering talent, Motown Records would have never lasted which would have been a terrible loss for America.........................
