بعد إعلان الرئيس بوش حزمة من العقوبات ضد النظام السوري, كان تصرح المعلم لا يتسم بالسذاجة فقط بل بالطرافة حينما أعلن تحديه للعقوبات الاميركية وأكدأن نظامه سيرد على الاجراءات الاميركية بعقوباوبعد الاستفسار عن طبيعة الاسلحة السرية التي يمتلكها النظام في فروع المخابرات السورية تبين أن أهم تلك الاسلحة هو سلاح ( الفلافل ) والشاورما التي قرر نظام دمشق إستعمالها في المعركة لكون كمية الغازات المنبعثة من تلك الاسلحة الستراتيجية ستهدد إتفاقية كيوتو للمناخ
