That brought back memories from long, long ago when I was a child and lived very close to Brookley AFB, Mobile, Alabama. When one of those things took off, it would rattle every dish and window in the house!!

Brookley was the only AFB in the world with air, road, railroad, and seaport access. LBJ ordered its closing as an "economy measure" after taking office in 1964. Alabama and Mobile County had been solidly against Johnson.

For all those that are curious, the C124 does fly with the tank inside. It was done for the Friday noontime demo that year (which Carl had a mishap on landing with the nose gear). I'm the tank operator seen in the video.

By the way, Carl is coming to Delaware this year with a B-36.
