You went through a lot of time to show people this cool stuff and these guys are using profanity. Wierd. Hey when you were behind the head panel did you notice if the AC vents were accesible. I need to repair the control system on my AC same car.
Are you talking about the vent control specifically? There are colored vacuum lines for the vent control that go into the back of the ICP. If you have EATC, then it's all electrical.
aight man im going to buy a integration piece to put my pioneer head unit in it and i talked to crutchfield and they say i will have to run wires all the way back to the rear deck speakers idk y cant i just plug my headunit in at the dash all i should have to do is take out the old factory headunit and use the stuff i buy to hold the stereo and then i plug it in y in the hell would you have to run wires to the back
You have to run wires to the back speakers because unlike in most cars, the Taurus uses a control panel up front, and all the real guts of the radio are in the back. So the wires for the rear speakers start in the back and end in the back. They never go up front. Therefore, you have to run wires from the front to get to the back. On most cars, the head unit contains all the guts of the radio, so all the speaker wires are up front for you already.
ok so then lets say i amp them instead will i still have to run all the wires to the back and how would it get back there if there arent any wires going to the back in the first place what wires did the factory run to control the speakers
The factory wires for the rear speakers are all in the back. The stock head unit is just a glorified controller, and the actual control unit for the system is in the trunk under the rug. Because of this, there is no reason for any wires for the rear speakers to go up front. they start at the conrol unit in the back and end at the speakers in the back. The wires for the front speakers run all the way from the control unit in the back of the car to the speakers in the front of the car.
you cannot bend wire coat hanges to use as a removal tool, because they are made from mild steel rather than the stiffer stainless steele removal tool- MORON
Tell that to all those who've done it with coat hangers, then we'll see who the moron is.
Yes, it is more difficult to do it with coat hangers because they aren't as rigid, but it is still possible. I pulled the head unit from the junkyard with a coat hanger in one side and some other random piece of thin bendable metal that was lying around for the other side.
I believe that there is a capacitor that holds a bit of charge.
I've had a battery disconnected for over an hour once and I didn't lose my presets. My clock resets but the presets stay there for quite some time.
There's also a capacitor that helps keep the PCM memory alive for a while, although, I believe tapping the brake pedal with the battery disconnected discharges that capacitor.
pulling out my Taurus' radio took me so long to do with coat hangers. I finally figured out that it's easy if you cut them kind of short. When they're too long, they bend instead of compressing the clips.
I wish I wasn't stupid and kept parts like the radio when I got rid of my '96. I could have made a whole lot more than $100 on the whole car if it costs $50 for just the radio at a junk yard.
Yeah, 50 bucks for the head unit, that doesn't include the RCU in the trunk, which contains the amp and reciever. My guess is that the RCU would go for another 50. That's 100 bucks right there, plus, the speakers, and the power mirrors, I got two of those at the junkyard for 15 bucks a piece. Parting out a car is always a good idea.

does the Taurus have like solid state memory or something, where it kept your presets even after disconnecting the battery?
