I'm a regular guy and I can afford a Vette as well as service it, unfortunatly the Ferrari is out of my price range, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy passing one while the driver has the peddle to the floor. Is my car faster on the track, probaly not but it doesn't see the track much on my daily commute.

I'm a regular guy and I can afford a Vette as well as service it, unfortunatly the Ferrari is out of my price range, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy passing one while the driver has the peddle to the floor. Is my car faster on the track, probaly not but it doesn't see the track much on my daily commute.

@fookfocketyfookfook I don't see it that way, I get 30+ mpg on the highway replacement parts can be purchased almost anywhere around the US and I run full synthetic oil and so far I have 110,000 miles on the car and its still going strong, I also service an older Ferrari for a friend and parts are hard to come by and the engine uses two filters that are inverted so that it's difficult to remove them without making a mess, I have resorted to punching holes in them to drain back before removal.

@2A372C OK remember we're still talking about supercars here, so mileage and parts availability shouldn't be an issue if you can afford them in the first place. As for ease of maintenance, if I spent over 100k on a car I would not want the engine bay to be packaged for ease of maintenance, I would want it set up for optimal weight distribution and efficient use of space. My statement was a reference to things like the poor ride quality and issues like bump steer in the corvettes of the 360 era.

@fookfocketyfookfook All the C5 corvettes I have driven from 1997 and up handle well, I’m not sure what bump steer you’re speaking of and as for weight distribution that’s a preference thing I guess. I prefer acceleration induced over steer vs. under steer. When you say “daily driver” price, mileage and parts availability come into play. A corvette is a supercar that can be driven where I live daily and it can be maintained by a hobbyist like me.

Do you honestly think 50 pounds makes a difference when the Corvette has just as much hp stock, but with much more torque.
