Not a Technics to be seen. I can't get used to the Digital sound with house music - a big, warm vinyl aura still sounds the most authentic. Keith Richards and a few well known house producers say they can't listen to cds/digital music and I can hear why. It's that falseness and tinnyness that bleeds your ears dead instead of melting over you the way vinyl does. That's just how it sounds to my lugs, but Sash rolls with the times-good on him if his ears hold out!!!
this is daft.innereyefull, are you sure you have been djing that long, cos even someone like me who has been djing ohhhh, 9 years, knows that theres more than just beatmatching. besides, even with cd decks YOU STILL HAVE TO BEATMATCH.they do NOT do that for you.credit to sasha for sticking his neck out and using ableton.his vinyl sets of old were awesome, but ableton has allowed him to move to the next level.if you've seen him live, the magic is still there, but theres more of a 'live' element...
sasha has taken it to the next level and although simple beatmatching is made easier on ableton it opens the door for a huge amount more which make his work more impressive than most. sasha can mix vinyl, cd, digital whatever but he does more than that creating live edits, loops over the top, extra textures and effects. each time it could varry depending on the crowd.i dont care how old you are or what experience you claim to have grow up and wise up!
everyones missing the point sashas sets ar not about re edits loops and effects he is the king at sucking you in to his sets and putting you in a drug induced trance then when you least expect it bam he knocks it out of you with an amazing build up the king at building a consistent atmosphere
@jimjamiejames listen, u sound like u know what ur talking about. I've been DJ-ing on CDJs for a little while, but have recently become fascinated with Ableton. Is it a good program to learn to DJ. I know big guys like Sasha are doing it, but do you have to have superior skills or something to learn this program? Just wondering, because it looks fascinating...
@gangbangersrgay you can dj on ableton yes. i myself use it for both production and djing. what i like about ableton is how easy it is to get into compared to similar programs yet it still has great depth for more complicated production. the workflow is great too and its easy to get a lot done in not too much time. you as is it easy to learn to dj on well it depends. you dont need to beat match in the traditional way so it wont help you there. if you musically minded then you should enable you..
@gangbangersrgay ....to get more out of the tracks your working with but it is a slightly different way of doing things. i would say some sort of midi controller is essential. i think you can download a free but limited version to have a play with so maybe try that an see how you go
@jimjamiejames great.. I just bought the APC-40 Ableton controller, but haven't really messed with it yet. I'll let you know how things go. Are you a DJ yourself?
firstly it makes me cringe when i see ppl talking like some of you on here. no need to get personal or start with fuck you this and you twat that. it only serves to make youself look thick and only able to for a very poor arguement. innereyefull seems to protest so much about how much he knows which always raises suspision but anyway if you ARE such a great musician its pretty sad your so close minded about tech and how you draw such a strong distinction between dj and musician..................
i rarely take part in banale conversations, but here goes. 25 years ago there was only vinyl. he only switched to ableton about 3 years ago. so the legend was built on vinyl.. trademark long mixes creating whole third songs & the song selection! omg! sasha doesn't claim to be a live act. I've seen him use maven & CDs together. it's art; let people express themselves; don't be so judgemental.
Sasha knows what the crowd wants, he also plays tunes he likes. If people like the same tunes then whats the problem? Also why carry a big bag of heavy records around when you dont need to. Also people jumping up and down and record decks dont go well together.
fuck you you ass licker? lol sounds like your not even 20 yr old m8 never mind been djing? i'm also a dj been doing it a very long time m8. explain this to me-sasha= legend djing in the best clubs in the world where the fuck do you dj innereyefull your local youth club?
sounds like none of you guys no what your talking bout slagging sasha off. he is the best dj out there always has been always will be.his mixing with vinyl is faultless unlike most. as to using computers now gives him the chance to show you whats in his head instead of something some other artist has done so go fuck off innereyefull and learn what the fuck your talking about retard
you fucking twat, ive been a musician for over 20 years, ive got my own studio, ive worked with many people over the years, and ive been djing for over 20 years, so dont tell me what you think you know!!!!!! i was slagging off sasha...not you so why you getting so angry unless you bumming him!!!!!!
yes...but if you open your eyes and look at that pretty looking thing next to the mixer, u will see THE MAVEN. DESIGNED BY SASHA FOR USE WITH ABLETON LIVE FOR LIVE PERFORMANCE, HENCE THE MONITOR. who gives a shit what hes using anyway??
You seem to think that DJing is just about beatmatching. Track selection and making people dance is what makes a good DJ. How the music comes out of the speakers has no relevance. Have you ever used Ableton Live?
im a musician of over 20 years and i use logic and yes i too have ableton! this is funny as fuck as ive been djing for over 20 years!!! and you all trying to tell me i know nothing!!! ha ha ha ha
Is this a rock concert? Everyone is just standing there fucking staring at sasha. Boring as fuck!

Sasha has simply taken advantage of new technology. All the big names are happy with CD decks now. Why stick with vinyl?
The crowd don't really care how the DJ is delivering the set - they respond to the content.
