  • Hi I own a 2000 WJ Jeep Grand Cherokee i had new front brake discs and new pads fitted but now after a bit of driving my brakes become hard to press and they smoke i also smell burning. I was hoping for some advise. thank You

  • @aryaan9 You could try to bleed the brakes, and if that doesn't resolve the issue the calipers could be hanging up and freezing, you may want to see if this is what's happening.

  • @1aauto - Thank you for posting this! With any luck, this video will help me with my Jeep Cherokee Sport!?!?

    Take care, Man!

  • @classiclistener01 No problem at all. You should be able to apply most of these basics to your Cherokee. I just picked up a 97 Grand Cherokee (ZJ) so we'll shoot some more Jeep videos for you guys as well.

  • Is it the same procedure for both front and rear disc brakes???

  • @ThePlaygroundCartel The rear disks are very similar. When you take the calipers off and compress them, they will not compress all of the way into the calpier like the fronts do. Hope this helps you out. Have a great day!

  • What is the average cost for a repair for this make and model if done at a service shop?

  • @airgonz you're probably looking at around 300-400 for parts and labor. Labor rates can vary from shop to shop though.

  • Thanks for that video. Explained everything i was looking for.

  • Great Video... the sledge hammer came in handy.... thanks... to change the rear brakes is the same procedure???

    THANKS!!!

  • Thanks for posting this!

  • Brakes are the same for 99-04 Grand Cherokee?

My mom's 2000 has some kind of tensioned wire across the front of the caliper. Does this require extra steps?

  • @JasperCountyNative It sounds like you have the Teves brake calipers as found on the earlier Jeep Grand Cherokees. The only difference is removing the clip or (wire) on the front of the caliper. Everything else such as collapsing the calipers and removing the pads, should be pretty much the same.

  • @1aauto Thanks! Got it done; was a breeze!

  • @1aauto Thanks! Got it done; was a breeze! Ended up needing a hex wrench, but no biggie.

  • @JasperCountyNative Hey Now... My caliper has hex bolts also. I don't suppose you remember what size it is so I don't have to buy the whole set. Thanks in advance.
