She approaches the truth in this rendition of Voi. But still more i think can be done in her submission to this role/character. It is hard not to get too emotional without losing technique, for the sake of technique, this keeps and holds her back just a tad. I want to her get lost in the role more in order for her to feel it more so i can hear it in her singing.

To sfisher71: If it takes you almost one minute to tell Mascagni from Mozart I think we are undone! Apart from that, the arietta from the Nozze is Voi CHE sapete and not CHI. So (no offense), I think you'd do better to brush up your Italian, besides putting your tuning fork at work. By the way, I prefer Cavalleria to the Nozze, but that's a matter of taste.

I listened to the first 30-45 seconds of this and kept thinking, "Dang, this sure doesn't SOUND like Mozart--" and then I realized it's Voi LO Sapete, not Voi CHI Sapete.

There are vocal mannerisms within this performance that harkens back to days of old. What a great model for any singer to follow. It makes me think of when Tebaldi was asked how you can sing like this. How? Her simple and humble answer was given with a polite, sincere and secure smile. She said its a gift from God. Tebaldi always sings great, but here she shows she also must have had superb stage presence as well. Shelooks quite elegant - such skin!

And why do her detractors keep saying she couldn't act? Her facial expressions are fine. It is better to underact a bit than to overact like Callas would at times.
