She approaches the truth in this rendition of Voi. But still more i think can be done in her submission to this role/character. It is hard not to get too emotional without losing technique, for the sake of technique, this keeps and holds her back just a tad. I want to her get lost in the role more in order for her to feel it more so i can hear it in her singing.

To sfisher71: If it takes you almost one minute to tell Mascagni from Mozart I think we are undone! Apart from that, the arietta from the Nozze is Voi CHE sapete and not CHI. So (no offense), I think you'd do better to brush up your Italian, besides putting your tuning fork at work. By the way, I prefer Cavalleria to the Nozze, but that's a matter of taste.

I listened to the first 30-45 seconds of this and kept thinking, "Dang, this sure doesn't SOUND like Mozart--" and then I realized it's Voi LO Sapete, not Voi CHI Sapete.

I agree, Renata was always beautiful and refined, charming, the '58 Napoli Forza duet with Corelli shows how beautiful she was and the '62 Berlino Otello she was very beautiful but you don't know how beautiful she was by the time she stopped singing, in late '70s , 1978/79 she was bellìsima, more beautiful than ever

My voice teacher saw her often on stage in Europe and said that some nights she had pitch problems but when she was in good shape, she was just La Divina, an unforgettable voice.

I think it would be fine for Price fans that Leontyne recordings were released often, Price is quite forgotten and she does not deserv it.Many Tebaldi filmed perf are released on DVD for several labels and hundred of Tebaldi CDs releases.They should do the same with Price

Tebaldi always sings great, but here she shows she also must have had superb stage presence as well. Shelooks quite elegant - such skin!

And why do her detractors keep saying she couldn't act? Her facial expressions are fine. It is better to underact a bit than to overact like Callas would at times.

Tebaldi is very much at home in this music. I own this video, and it is my favorite performance of this aria. The notes in the upper middle have a sublime quality that no one can duplicate.
