  • Now THIS takes me back... :)

  • Nice music

  • A few times when they showed the train from far away, it was a toy model.

  • When they showed the avalance onto the train, it was just a toy model. Same thing at the end when the train went through the snow on the mountain.

  • Spanish version was much better than this!!! ( kidding, guys, it´s just that´s he one i sang as a kid... this one is great too) :)

  • I thought the avalanche part was quite terrifying as a kid. Still do, in a small way.

  • LMAFO HE EAT THE SNOW

  • Oii%f

  • A big adventure, SS's version of THE WAGES OF FEAR .

  • This is one of the better Cookie Monster songs/skits I have seen. It shows that Cookie Monster thinks more of kids than he does of himself. Perhaps getting the train through, he got a whole bunch of cookies.

  • lol

  • look at all the snow on the train - it would have cooled it down quite a bit... I wonder if cookie monster kept the fire going?

  • This was my daughter's favorite thing to watch when she was a baby and a toddler and even a young child, now she is a teen and all she wants to do is talk on facebook and ourworld. :(

  • Cookie Monster, technically, was not all alone. There were people around him singing.

Also, I wonder, if he ate up all the avalanche, how the rocks tasted.

  • I always remembered this bit from when I was little. It comes back to me whenever I shovel snow, especially when it gets bad. (Hell thats once a year, I live in Buffalo, NY) I'll be shoveling and when I get winded and feel like quiting, I think of Cookie not giving up.Thanks for the upload.

  • I remember this!

  • Yay! He got the train through! That avalanche used to scare the hell out of me as a kid.

  • @zacandtaylorrule : Me too.

  • Cookie Monster showing restraint, now THAT'S a first! :)

  • At today's rate of obesity, the Sesame Street Railroad would probably need a hundred cars filled with cookies and 50 "tank[s] of chocolate goo," to satisfy kids for a year.

  • This was, hands down, my favorite Sesame Street skit! So inspirational! Cookie Monster got the train through, and didn't eat the cookies! Truly a hero for all ages.

  • I loved this one as a kid. Anytime Cookie Monster could go crazy and destroy something... FOR JUSTICE! :D

  • @IronPants Amen Brother. :)

  • anyone remember a mexican band doing a song that the words i love to sing and dance around while the music is playing andale sang it in spanish and one part in english set in the same place as celia cruz singing zuzu

  • @MitchHailstone Depends. Do you eat snow when you get a craving for cookies?

  • awesome vid thx for sharing!

  • As a kid, I always wondered if Cookie Monster's shouting of: "Me must get train through!" is what actually caused the avalanche. Any opinions?

  • Although the avalanche part scared me as a kid, this has always been one of my favorite Sesame Street sketches! Thank you for sharing! :)

  • this was my absolute favorite when I was a kid,I thought they were singing train Drew, but my mother corrected me saying it was train thru,my little 3 year old cousin loves this one too,he dances everytime he here's the banjo music, and after almost 40 years they should NOT make cookie the salad or veggie monster,if it's not broken DONT FIX IT

  • Cookie Monster - a true Western hero.

  • dang Avalanch Cookie monster and his crew was so lucky they were not crushed or they would be dead.

  • This song is catchy!

  • I've always loved this segment, but how they predicted Alan Jackson so accurately with that banjo Muppet is something I will never understand!

  • My nephew Asees loves this! He loves trains & Sesame Street!

  • This was my favorite SS episode EVER!

  • This is the old Cookie Monster!!! He looked like he was stoned FOR REAL!!!!

  • OHM...my GAWD...this is HILARIOUS...xO

  • omg are they teaching kids to eat snow!!? :-DD i love this show, too bad they don't show it on tv in my country anymore :(

  • gimmie dat chocolate goo.

  • Would love to see it!!

  • cookie monster could use some elocution classes!

  • LOL thats funnyz love it !!!!!<3

  • "Me getting hungry....me getting VERY hungry!!! Oh, maybe not too bad if me eat SOME cookies....WAIT, what me doing?!? It be very bad if me eat cookies! ME MUST GET TRAIN THROUGH!!!"

  • my litle bro loves it

  • sadly-our hero, cookie monster,DIED of hypothermia after eating all that SNOW

[but he got that damn train THRU!!!]

  • sanguine111 is my friend

Everyone should subscribing to him the channel and also become friends with him. For he shall sending you clips like this one that shall causing you to have changes in your the day that are positive, which is rare and good in this world

  • Cookie Monster's Awsome!!!!!!!!!!!

  • haha i never so tat coming,

  • I remembered this well as a child and I loved it!

  • Catchy beat

  • Transportation regulations were different back then. :P

If you think of it, the story is basically about fighting temptation and thinking of others before yourself.

Though these days, Cookie Monster would have gotten a 'brain freeze' from all the snow.

  • Rofl.I would think so

  • I remember seeing this as a kid and being scared of the avalanche.........

  • Me too, I think a big engine coming to a screetchy snowy halt scared me

  • Hahahaha! I was terrified of the avalanche too. In fact, the only reason I looked this vid up was to show my bro how "scary" it was.

  • cookie monster is my hero

  • kinda a way to make fun of a famous American locomotive engineer

  • I like snow ... and I love this video

  • Wouldn't it be fun if SS did a parody of "Hell's Kitchen"? How about "L"'s Kitchen? LOL. Five letter L's would cook something and Ramasy could say something to the effect of "What the L are you doing?" when they do something wrong. It'd be fun. lol

  • @abqwriter Great idea!

  • @abqwriter good idea, but even L's kitchen sounds too much like hell, may not be good for kids tv

  • @abqwriter --- LOL!!! That would be great! :D

  • @abqwriter He could talk about the difference between "burnt" and "raw." Is there a donkey on Sesame Street? Because then, he could actually call it a "donkey" and not get in trouble.

  • Sesame Street needs to get back to it's roots. They are fed garbage compared to this.

  • Actually the responsibility for the whole train would lie in the conductor, not the engineer.

  • My 3yo thinks all train tank cars carry chocolate goo and hopper cars carry cookies. My little guy FTW!

  • And people think Sesame Street is just for kids? Hello! GROWN MEN and women can learn some things from this piece:

    1. If you agree to take on a responsibility, FULFILL IT. Especially when you have people counting on you

    .

    2. Resist the temptation to cave in and blame it on your "weakness". Far too many people use that as a cop-out.

    3. Use whatever talents you have to do what you have to do. They may turn out to be EXTREMELY valuable.

Like I said, lessons for kids AND adults.

  • I'm a grown up and I love these skits. Usually they are well written and have good points without being preachy.

Quality childrens' shows can be enjoyed by both children and adults alike.

  • This is the BEST, sadly they are thinking of making him Salad monster

  • Hahaahaha this still rocks!~

  • exception not the rule. case and point, not every sesame street kid is an idiot grown up. are you an government accountant in a grey office? its called imagination and fun. fun.. remember what that is? lol

  • Me watch Cookie Monster and me speak good. Me emulate Cookie Monster for fun and cookies. You not know what is fun?

  • Awesome segment! I can tell the lead singer was chroma-keyed into the main footage, and that the long-shots of the train Cookie Monster was driving was done using a model train set, and the shots of the avalanche falling was just stock footage

  • I LOVED this video when I was a kid. I would always get so excited when the mountain appeared onscreen and the banjo music started playing. Good times.

  • I LOVE The Cookie Monster! I'm 12 years old and I love him! I have his shirt! They ruined it with "Veggie" monster. EW!

  • They never made a Veggie Monster. That's a myth, so don't worry...

  • im 16 and i looooooooooooooooooooove it tooo hehehehee

  • What a brilliant set! Cool.

  • The middle part of the song inspite the musical differences reminds me of Gordon Lightfoot's Canadian Railroad Trilogy because the songs slows down in the middle and picks up again.

  • Oh,i love cookies :3 :D

  • I can tell Jerry Nelson did the singer.

  • Spot on!

  • Yup.

  • Ooo, that some cargo the train is carrying.
