Thats a futuristic train that sits in midair using magnetic force created by eletrical technological means. I don't know. you ever notice how when you put two magnets together, they repel. well if you were to make like a sheet covered in magnets and have the same charged magnets on the bottom of a wheel-less skate board then balance the skateboard on the magnets, instant hoverboard.
It would have to be tied down to adjust it's unstable equilibrium. Or else, the instant hover board would automatically flip over on it's other side and stick to the side where theres magentic pull. Just the same as real magnet's reaction. The idea is so far out and impractical, there would be very little function on a floating board you cant even get on top of, let alone ride. :(

not quite, with some magnets you can change the polarity of it so therefore if the magnet was to flip over you can change the polarity of it with a device attached to the board or machine so therefore it would stay in the air..... but the technology behind hover vechiles goes beyond magnets, most likely if possible in the future ill be fan powered propelling the air downwards

The board is hanging from wires, which cannot be seen because of the low quality of the video. At 00:19 you can see that the board is swinging like a pendulum, which is only possible if it's hanging from wires... like a pendulum.
he's right. and there is a glare on the hoverboard, and there is no sun from the black around the movie and the low qualitiness. the end of the wires is what is causing that glare.
could u tell us how did u do that did u edit this vid and work on your computer for the effects to work on the backgrounds to vanish and the rest will still be there that a good trick

Its not likely we'll see these things come to reality. Even if a board could hover like the film, just think of how difficult it would be to keep the equilibrium stable enough to even stand on. And magnets? If theres a force that can make this happen, its going to take more than simple magnets. lol

uhh i must be blind, cause i didnt see strings.... and its possilbe for magnets to make the board hover like that, the earth isnt just made up of dirt and rocks theres also like i think 10 or 15% nickle and iron (i could be WAY the fuck off) but with a strong enough magnet you could make the board hover.

I happen to be studying physics right now and let me tell you, that board up there is not actually floating. My god, the vid poster only admitted it was fake in a message. If a board could actually float in stable condition like above, it would have been world wide news by now.

Second, youre saying the nickle and iron would take some effect to pull magnetic opposing force from the ground? Look at the monorails of Disneyworld. Thats a futuristic train that sits in midair using magnetic force created by eletrical technological means. The board up there would have to have plenty of kibble built on it plus not to mention a special floor made of electrical (and dangerous) magnetic force. The dirt alone wont have enough power to lift even the lightest board.

true, but i thought i heard like in the early 80s Matell (however you spell it) made these and the goverment found out and told them not to mass produce this technology because of the advancitys it had? idk i could be wrong, i took physics as well in highschool and it was my teach that said these things worked. now either he was a quack or telling the truth.

Ohhh...I know what you're talking about. I saw the producer say in the BTTF DVD commentary that the boards were real but that the toy companies couldn't put it out due to safety issues or something. But he supposedly managed to get some and use them in the film. Then he finally admitted that he was only joking and that they indeed were not real at all, but props and special effects. That pissed me off. lol... I was hoping they were real the first time i saw them on screen. Oh well.

I don't know. you ever notice how when you put two magnets together, they repel. well if you were to make like a sheet covered in magnets and have the same charged magnets on the bottom of a wheel-less skate board then balance the skateboard on the magnets, instant hoverboard.

It would have to be tied down to adjust it's unstable equilibrium. Or else, the instant hover board would automatically flip over on it's other side and stick to the side where theres magentic pull. Just the same as real magnet's reaction. The idea is so far out and impractical, there would be very little function on a floating board you cant even get on top of, let alone ride. :(

okay, same experiment except this time instead of the skateboard I use a sheet coated with the same charged magnets and wrap myself up in it and fall onto the 1st sheet. I would float right?

actually you wouldnt have to pave the streets with magnets, what about the polar magentic pull created by the earth it self, the earth rotates because of the magnetic pull thats why it spins on a axis, my theory is you need to use a magnetic that would push off of the earths natural magnetic pull, its not impossible its actually very plossible

impossible......no way a magnet would be stable enough...besides if you have a magnet that can repell 150 lbs or more, just think about the board flipping over....you'd crush anything underneath it...and it would be very hard to pick up off the ground if it flipped.....hoverboards in "bttf" can never exist....sorry

not quite, with some magnets you can change the polarity of it so therefore if the magnet was to flip over you can change the polarity of it with a device attached to the board or machine so therefore it would stay in the air..... but the technology behind hover vechiles goes beyond magnets, most likely if possible in the future ill be fan powered propelling the air downwards

I believed these thing were real for the longested time. The director of BTTF Bob Zemackis even said they were real in an interview. He later apollogized and said it was just a joke. I was in middle school when he made that statement in 1889. Had all us skater kids conviced there was a big conspiracy! One of my friends even wrote a letter to Mattel asking them if they would consider releasing them! haha!

Between 20 - 25 you can clearly see the wires.
And if you ever watched the making of BTTF 2 you see them filming Micheal in the tunnel and he is floating around on wires.

The board is hanging from wires, which cannot be seen because of the low quality of the video. At 00:19 you can see that the board is swinging like a pendulum, which is only possible if it's hanging from wires... like a pendulum.

he's right. and there is a glare on the hoverboard, and there is no sun from the black around the movie and the low qualitiness. the end of the wires is what is causing that glare.
