I actually cry watching this episode, which is rare. I don't like crying, but it was just so depressing. =( But I must say it was the best ending of a show ever!
Kate and Sawyer were always best friends in my eye. Them actually being together would have taken away the lightness and fun that was in their relationship from the start. Juliet made Sawyer finally grow up and think about someone other than himself.

So I guess that's why, even though I'm more of a Jate fan, I enjoyed Skate relationship, I could see how they related. When concerning Jate, their differences & insecurities was what made them admire each other & have troubles at the same time. And Kate in the beginning was seemed like she couldn't understand why someone like Jack would be interested in her. And of course Jack always, like Sawyer said, with his God syndrome in the middle of them LOL. But you could see the love between them.

@KateAusten27 Nobody dumped nobody...in La Fleur & Whatever happened, happened...they showed how Sawyer & Kate dealt with the guilty of leaving each other & the break of their bond...he jumped off...she could have jumped off...but she didn't bc of Jack...it was clear she had nothing more to go back to...& that she could've gave aaron to his real grandmathen she hold on to Aaron the only pure thing to keep her sane & handle it.
But even when Jack wanted to go back bc the all thing was driving him nuts...she didn't want...she went back for Aaron, right or wrong she thought she owe him to get his real mom back. When Kate & Sawyer finally met when they thought they wouldn't see each other after there was some surprise, some weirdness for them, Jack & Julliet too, for the obvious reasons...Kate was suprised by how Sawyer had grown up...but they understood it wouldn't have worked between them, let it go & stayed friends.

Claire and the baby Aaron, no one saw the baby grow up except for kate and jack..so he is still baby Aaron to everyone else. Jin and Sun didn't have their baby until she left the island thats why they are baby-less in the afterlife. No one remembers how they died or cares, thats why jack was confused he was dead. watch it again and pay attention this time
@KateAusten27 If you are wondering why some didn't make the afterlife cut is because of their actions on the island like Michael killing 2 people for no reason so he is stuck on the island and is not ready to transcend just like Ben decided not to go into the church. Ana lucia as well for killing Shannon, Walt has most likely forgotten the whole experience since he was only kid and the only reason why Sayid was there is because he sacrificed himself for everyone towards the end.
@kickingseven Actually it was down to availability of the actors. Ana Lucia shooting Shannon was an accident, and it's common knowledge she finally earned redemption by admitting to her sins and refraining from killing Ben. Michael should've been redeemed, but apparently became part of the whispers, which is sad... I'd argue Eko gave up redemption by refusing to repent, although it could be seen as realisation of necessity. I would've liked all the main cast in the church, personally. Sad. :(
@MyNameIsLyleAnderson Ana Lucia had too many demons honestly and her shooting Shannon was an accident, but the way she acted just couldn't make up for it. She the one dude killed cause she didn't trust him and alienated him from the group. As much as I liked her, she was a lost cause and really didn't have a relationship with anyone from the core survivors really, thats why libby was there because of Hugo. And Penny because of Desmond.
@kickingseven The way she acted and the way she felt were two very different things... One example would be when she's being so hard at the beginning of the series, but she goes down to the river to cry where no one will see her. It's not about her "having a relationship with anyone" or "the way she acted", but her feelings inside. The fact that she showed up in the afterlife, instead of as the whispers, is pretty concrete evidence she achieved redemption anyway. Also, Goodwin was an Other?

Considering Desmond said to Hurley "She's not ready YET" In the penultimate episode, it clearly was enough. You can go watch it, it's pretty concrete. You might have your own idea of who was redeemed, but you can't argue with solid fact. If Ana Lucia hadn't earned redemption she would be part of the whispers.

I was confused by the series finale. And didn't like the idea of Jack dying. But it's Lost, so it's all mysterious and supernatural. I was so pleased for Jack and Kate to be endgame. They have always been incredible. Love how she told him she loved him. He was heroic to stay. Glad they were together in the end.

Kate came back to the island to get Claire back to Aaron, the toddler Kate raised as hers for 3 years in civilization after Claire disappeared on the island. They have to seperate to do what they must and Jack knows nw he will die but is OK with it.

Well said. Even though I think the creators did a lot of damage to Kate's character, ultimately, I think this was the better pairing for her. It seems they didn't quite figure that out soon enough. I think they also didn't realize how great the Juliet/Sawyer pairing was going to be. Again another example of how two characters balance each other out.
@KateAusten27 I think Evangeline Lilly said it best, Kate & Jack loved each other & if kate had wish they'd be happy, but she realized that she couldn't hold Jack from his purpose (save the island) & bc of that there would always be more important things for him to do. Jack & Kate relationship when they left the island, the knowledge of the ilsand at Jack up...until he feel the need to come back...like Locke said would happen...also the guilty for the ones they left behind.
This moment more than made up for all the Will they? wont they? moments which spanned 6 seasons - there was lots of different examples of love, cute and sweet such as charlie and claire, love fuelled by redemption such as sayid and shannon or sawyer and juliet, love that survives despite long separation over space and time like Jin/Sun or Desmond/Penny - Jack and Kate's love was not so idealistic like the others. It was more real, flawed relationship that took a whole lifetime to fully realise.

I was deeply disappointed in a way, because Jate finally said "I love you" and then he died, I mean COME ON! But this scene was still powerful and magnificent.

I was almost Sawyer and Kate´s fan in season 5, you can see it on my channel. I wanted J/K as a friends in season 5. I can´t believe myself. I can´t support S/K if their fans behave to us the way they do. They´ve got so many scenes in the past and they´re still angry with the end and with us because writers made the series finale with Jack/Kate and Sawyer/Juliet. They´ve got 7 kisses in the series, we´ve got 6 kisses.
That was a BEAUTIFUL scene! The way they said i love you, the passion, the waves crashing on the rocks, the sincerity in their voices. Just beautiful!
For a guy like me, Jack & Kate are the only TV couple I've ever supported than other couples in LOST or other shows. Since LOST began, there was something so amazing about their love slowly developing each season to now. I was overjoyed to see Jack & Kate declare their true love for each other as Jack died in the end for Kate to live. Then to see their reunion in the Afterlife so they could "move on" together for eternity. This scene was beyond words, incredible.
You know what I don't get is the purpose of the island. Other than to bring all these people together, the ending isn't even about the importance of the island
I love watching this, and when she says "tell me i'm going to see you again." now we know that they did meet again, because they were always meant to be together.
@Spulpacz that is only one of its meanings. Very often used colloquially as an adjective to mean "huge, stupendous, heroic, majestic, impressively great" I think the Jake/Kate moment fits that :)
At 51, I believe that I am, perhaps, the world's oldest 'Jater.' Regardless, I have watched this show...and this couple, from the start. I can't watch this scene w/o a HUGE lump in my throat. Thanks for uploading the scene, & thanks Carlton, Damon & JJ (and of course Evangeline and Matt) for creating the most memorable show, and the most wonderful, romantic pair of lovers ever seen on TV or in movies. Their love story was the greatest roller coaster ride I've known, and LOST, the best show.

But even when Jack wanted to go back bc the all thing was driving him nuts...she didn't want...she went back for Aaron, right or wrong she thought she owe him to get his real mom back. When Kate & Sawyer finally met when they thought they wouldn't see each other after there was some surprise, some weirdness for them, Jack & Julliet too, for the obvious reasons...Kate was suprised by how Sawyer had grown up...but they understood it wouldn't have worked between them, let it go & stayed friends.

Claire and the baby Aaron, no one saw the baby grow up except for kate and jack..so he is still baby Aaron to everyone else. Jin and Sun didn't have their baby until she left the island thats why they are baby-less in the afterlife. No one remembers how they died or cares, thats why jack was confused he was dead. watch it again and pay attention this time

@KateAusten27 If you are wondering why some didn't make the afterlife cut is because of their actions on the island like Michael killing 2 people for no reason so he is stuck on the island and is not ready to transcend just like Ben decided not to go into the church. Ana lucia as well for killing Shannon, Walt has most likely forgotten the whole experience since he was only kid and the only reason why Sayid was there is because he sacrificed himself for everyone towards the end.

@kickingseven Actually it was down to availability of the actors. Ana Lucia shooting Shannon was an accident, and it's common knowledge she finally earned redemption by admitting to her sins and refraining from killing Ben. Michael should've been redeemed, but apparently became part of the whispers, which is sad... I'd argue Eko gave up redemption by refusing to repent, although it could be seen as realisation of necessity. I would've liked all the main cast in the church, personally. Sad. :(

She the one dude killed cause she didn't trust him and alienated him from the group. As much as I liked her, she was a lost cause and really didn't have a relationship with anyone from the core survivors really, thats why libby was there because of Hugo. And Penny because of Desmond.

One example would be when she's being so hard at the beginning of the series, but she goes down to the river to cry where no one will see her. It's not about her "having a relationship with anyone" or "the way she acted", but her feelings inside. The fact that she showed up in the afterlife, instead of as the whispers, is pretty concrete evidence she achieved redemption anyway. Also, Goodwin was an Other?

I was confused by the series finale. And didn't like the idea of Jack dying. But it's Lost, so it's all mysterious and supernatural. I was so pleased for Jack and Kate to be endgame. They have always been incredible. Love how she told him she loved him. He was heroic to stay. Glad they were together in the end.

@soyaguacate They just took out the man In Black but he stabbed Jack pretty bad. Jack is new island protector and has to save it. Kate came back to the island to get Claire back to Aaron, the toddler Kate raised as hers for 3 years in civilization after Claire disappeared on the island. They have to seperate to do what they must and Jack knows nw he will die but is OK with it.

Well said. Even though I think the creators did a lot of damage to Kate's character, ultimately, I think this was the better pairing for her. It seems they didn't quite figure that out soon enough. I think they also didn't realize how great the Juliet/Sawyer pairing was going to be. Again another example of how two characters balance each other out.

This moment more than made up for all the Will they? wont they? moments which spanned 6 seasons - there was lots of different examples of love, cute and sweet such as charlie and claire, love fuelled by redemption such as sayid and shannon or sawyer and juliet, love that survives despite long separation over space and time like Jin/Sun or Desmond/Penny - Jack and Kate's love was not so idealistic like the others. It was more real, flawed relationship that took a whole lifetime to fully realise.

I was almost Sawyer and Kate´s fan in season 5, you can see it on my channel. I wanted J/K as a friends in season 5. I can´t believe myself. I can´t support S/K if their fans behave to us the way they do. They´ve got so many scenes in the past and they´re still angry with the end and with us because writers made the series finale with Jack/Kate and Sawyer/Juliet. For a guy like me, Jack & Kate are the only TV couple I've ever supported than other couples in LOST or other shows. Since LOST began, there was something so amazing about their love slowly developing each season to now. I was overjoyed to see Jack & Kate declare their true love for each other as Jack died in the end for Kate to live. Then to see their reunion in the Afterlife so they could "move on" together for eternity. This scene was beyond words, incredible.

At 51, I believe that I am, perhaps, the world's oldest 'Jater.' Regardless, I have watched this show...and this couple, from the start. I can't watch this scene w/o a HUGE lump in my throat. Thanks for uploading the scene, & thanks Carlton, Damon & JJ (and of course Evangeline and Matt) for creating the most memorable show, and the most wonderful, romantic pair of lovers ever seen on TV or in movies.
