I think she actually said the song is about a dream she had where these "intruders" came into her house and stabbed her and she thought she would die but she didn't. although maybe I'm remembering it incorrectly. awesome song.

I think it makes sense the way it is. The anxiety she's feeling isn't enough to kill her. I'm not sure about the second part though. Maybe she feels like the anxiety is somewhere close by but she isn't affected by it yet? I don't know.

The collaboration of tegan and sara and kaki king is simply brilliant , her guitar really adds to the whole feeling this song.

I like this just as much as the studio version, they are just so damn amazing. and on regards to what this songs about... I heard that it was a mix of a dream she had where she was being stabbed, but also about her grandmother's death

This song is about Sara having a weird dream and kind of observing it in third person perspective...Seeing herself die.

Actually, she said that in her dream she saw herself being stabbed, but she didn't die. I figure the song is about an overwhelming fear of death when you know there's someone else sharing in your lifeforce.

well they would send it to each other when they were "done" with it and then the other would add in stuff if they wanted to and play around with it. But your right it does sound like Sara did her own backings here... but the produced version has Tegan on backings...

The only way I can think to describe it is to listen to this version then the Con version.

But if you listen really close you can tell that there's something missing, there's little gaps where Kaki had eventually worked her parts in. Especially right before and after the first line of the vocal.
