Marilyn's performance in the KopyKats show with Gershwin, singing "Rockabye Your Baby" , one doing Garland the other Jolson is one of the highlights of TV iI ever remember.
Get a feeling Mis Michaels didn't need to do these impressions. Had she found her own voice she could have been a star in her own right. Quite a set of chops on her!!!!
Marilyn Michaels does fun impressions, but they're not all "on the money" - some sound pretty close though - and she certainly has a fine voice all on her own -
I defy anyone to name a performer anywhere near as talented as the incomparable Marilyn Michaels. She could do ANY woman's voice and add just the proper degree of subtle elements in dead-on impersonations, plus sing exactly like the greatest chanteuses of the age. An incredible talent. No one has come close to her talent in almost 50 years. An absolute genius of a performer.
Marilyn Michaels set the bar for all female impressionists for years to come - she has a superb singing voice - and a vast range of characters - we didn't get her in the UK. Ckeck out her other vids
Yes you're correct - from what I understand (imdb) there were 5 shows made with other impressionists (Rich Little etc) and cameo appearances from celebrities like Orson Welles and Frank "Riddler" Gorshin. Can't say I remember it though.. at least not as well as the 70s Brit version "Who Do You Do?" with Fredie Starr, etc. Thanks for the info - she's still fantastic
I remember seeing an interview with Michaels on--I think it may have been The Michael Douglas Show or Merv Griffin, in the early 70s; and she said that it seemed that whatever she tried to do, she was shadowed by her resemblance to Streisand, and found it very difficult to get accepted as anything but an imitator ala' Rich Little; and although she did club work for years, her career never really got over the fence. She did a few albums but they faded into the sunset. Too bad, really.
I remember her from the KopyKats series from England, with Rich Little and Frank Goshwin. Anybody have clips from that? I remember she did Judy, and Frank did Al Jolson, both singing "Rockabye." Gems!
I was surprised to see so many mudslinging comments! I like to give credit where credit is due. I had neither heard nor seen Marilyn Michaels perform before this video, so it was such a treat to watch! There are so few people who do impersonations seriously, so to see someone SINGING them, and so well, really gave me a new respect for the art. Who can resist music and comedy?
And how did drag queens get caught up in the cross fire? Love ya, ladies~! ;D
If I remember correctly, she also used to impersonate Dinah Shore, Diana Ross, and Lena Horne. This was before there was a ban on White performers appearing in "blackface". But Marilyn's impersonations of Diana and Lena were excellent!!!
Drag queens suck. Marilyn was the real deal. The only good female impressionist ever. And she had real musical talent. Her pitch was better than most of the women she imitated.

Here Striesand is good, too....ironically, she played Fanny Brice in the national tour of "Funny Girl"

even the best impressionist cannot duplicate Judy's voice but she was dead on with all the impressions.

Her Connie Francis is dead on. Although not too many know who Connie Francis is now-a-days.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Her Judy is too bronxy, too nasal, too Streisand-y, and her voice is just too healthy to do Judy.

You are an idiot

Didn't get her in the UK? Wasn't her summer show, called "The Kopycats" (she was one of the regulars who did impressions) filmed in England?

Whatever, She (Marilyn) sucks. She can't impersonate anybody. At least... wait she's not famous! Oh well...

You gotta be kidding!!! Her Judy impression was great. I've seen her do a better impersonation of Barbra, but this one is still pretty good.

I've seen her impersonate Connie on TV a few times. I think Babs, Connie, an dJudy are her most frequent performances.
