@MangoSmoothie16 Same engine with a different intake design. G35, Maxima, Murano, Altima and 350z all have same VQ but differ in intake system and exhaust of course.
@MangoSmoothie16 it's more than just intake. The rear drive VQ has 10.6:1 compression, and the front drives are 10.3:1. The front drives run richer, the rear drives leaner due to tune. The deck height is different. And thats just the VQ DE engine. The newer school HR engine is alot different, night and day. I love the DE but the HR is the sweet one.
The 350 won, although that Altima was faster then I thought. There is a proper 1/4 mile track video of a Altima vs 350z - and the Altima had a cold air intake and exhaust mod. The 350Z leaves it after about 3 seconds off the line and disappears. I raced a Altima SeR in my 2005 G35 Coupe - we were door to door for a bit but I pulled away ...I guess having access to 101 octane fuel helps. But hey - they are all Nissans ..so its all good..Id drive an Altima any day
@ConnorGorman go to Nismo buy a cold air intake. Install (only) the piece that goes from the throttle body to the MAF. That is a Z-Tube. I didn't use the rest, because I live in Va Beach. If we get a rain shower here, we get flooded. I don't want to suck up any water. So go ahead call it "ghetto rigged".
@blkmaxx a "z-tube" is a stock altima air box with the silencer and front scoop removed plus a drop in air filter. Aka ghetto rigged. If you can please provide a link for me where i can by this "Nismo Z-Tube" you speak of, id LOVE to see it.
@ConnorGorman A Z-tube isnt what you think, it is actually just a intake tube without the air baffles on the stock piece. A cone filter is on the end just like a short ram intake. It is a oem 350Z tube usually used by G35 guys to upgrade their stock tube which has huge baffles. I have one for my SER but i choose to run my Fujita CAI that sound better IMO.
@blkmaxx What kind of stuff you have on it to hang with a HR Z? Cause my friend has a 06 Atilma SE-R it has fujita cold air intake cat delete full cat back exhaust also pulse plugs 6 m/t and he cant hang with my 07 G35S 6 M/T STOCK he stays behind about 2 cars... I have raced a 350Z HR with twin stillen intakes and i lose by a little more than a car... And no the SE-R i have in my vids is not what im reffering too thats just some trash talkin prick lol
@gonza1152 Tell you'r friend with the SE-R to go to a dealership and get them to delete the Long Term Fuel Trim because the fuel trim is still going off of the same "tune" as it was when it was stock. Clear the LTFT and advance the timing +2 degrees. (that's what I've done) I worked at Nissan so I was playing around with the computer a little bit. Oh, tell him to get the NWP Power Valve Delete. Oh, BTW the cat-back and intake was a waste of money because the I have stock exhaust and intake.
@arson519 I have a video named "06 Altima SE-R 6spd RARE" Go watch that vid you'll see my Z-tube intake and my Power Valve Delete plate on my intake manifold. The Z-tube is just a piece of intake tubing without resonators, using the stock air box with a K&N drop in filter. The Power Valve Delete is an elimination of the valve inside of the intake manifold that opens up a long ram passage (it has a short ram and long ram air passage in the stock intake manifold) for better air flow.
I had my car baselined after I installed it. If anything it might have given me 3-4 hp. The stock G tube has a ton of resonators. One of them sticks down about 8 inches into the engine bay, and the inside of the tube is littered with sound baffles. So if anything, it was minimal.
I installed just the z tube. I'm going to buy a charger after I install my Motordyne 5/16" iso spacer. I need to research the popcharger a little more. Seems too overpriced for the job it does.
Contact Brian at Cattman. There is a filter out that actually flows better than the pop charger and its cheaper too. Call him and speak to him great guy and not the type to feed you crap to sell a product.
Well, in my G coupe, as soon as I hit 4000 RPM at WOT, you hear it. There have been times where i'm at 1/2 throttle around 4500 RPM, and as soon as I punch it, you HEAR it. I love it.
yay i finger that it would have been alil gain, well from what i heard that hole set up from charger to ztube is like a full intake for $190 and proven gains of up to 10 but idk thats what a 350z owner said, with the pop i spent like 90 witch is alot but i think for what i wanted at the time it was ok but imma aim for a injen cai and replace by march or april
the g's sounds good only they got that sound everytime i hear it i get excited i mean my R sounds great but the g's are nice, at 4500 the charger goes crazy i like goin under the highways and tunnels lmao
Those SE-Rs are nice. Quick and they look good for a sedan.
I installed my MD plenum spacer a few days ago, and man. Great butt dyno gains so far. I am going to my shop to have some dynos ran to see how much I gained from it. Don't bother with the pop charger. Get the Motordyne plenum spacer. It's easy to install and it has independently proven gains.
yay they are i love my R even tho its not a coupe it fits me more anyway, you just can do so much to g35/350...
thats coo i looked on there sight and no product for me but my next mod is the Phenolic Thermal Intake Spacer from NWP and maybe a throttle spacer but imma try to ask or research them more before i purchase

Whats rare about this...? A bit confused...

im sure a 350z with 30+hp and is way lighter is losing to a altima
The420DubStep 8 months ago
@The420DubStep Check the specs, which one is lighter? I see the 350z weighing 3500lbs+/- everywhere, even the brochure says that...

I believe what you mean by z-tube is "ghetto rigged stock air box" and by power valve you mean "NWP Engineering Block Plate".
