wow your blood parrot is nice. Mines is crazy. If i feed them with my hands in the water. they will go charge at me for food and bit my fingers. I feed them like a dog. I just leave the food up so they can catch it :)

@parrotgoldfish parrots can gain or lose black spots during spawning/poor water quality. Most likely your fish is either preparing to mate or is a sign of constant poor water quality.

I have one only about an inch long named Graham Norton. :) He's such a sweetie! He loves to follow me around haha. Yes, they are available at PetSmart. I work at one. They're amazing fish. Just remember, they can get at least 8 inches long and live over ten years!

Hmmm one question though. Is it normal for their fins to be somewhat broken. Like it's not that dramatic. They're just missing a few webs in their fins. I heard this could be a cause of stress due to uncomfortable water temperatures.

Can anyone tell me about a fish which looks like a parrot fish, only the fins are arranged differently? I saw them at the chinese restaurant and the staff member didn't know what they were. They had no tail whatsoever. Instead, the dorsal and bottom fins came further back almost as if in compensation. One was peach colored, the other two were more orange. Two of them were very friendly just like this fellow in the video.called.

@horriblescience - I don't know how to train yours like the one in the video, but I can tell you one technique to make them less shy. It seems if you put other fish in with them they tend to be less shy. I was told this was true because with the other fish moving around the tank, they felt safer and in less danger. When they see the other fish hide, they know to hide. This worked with my Parrots, and now they are always out. Good Luck.

they are a man made hybrid fish that was created in Asia. I wouldn't suggest getting one but to each his own...
