  • How do you get the bees to all slowly move inside? Is it because you put the queen there. Sorry, I'm still learning a lot because I want to own bees soon. I just keep seeing videos on YT of people who film pounds of bees moving in by themselves and I don't know how you guys do it.

  • The bees follow the queen. Once she's inside the others will follow. It's amazing to watch!

  • can you suggest and good books on the subject....i want to start my own hive

  • Check your local yellowpages for beekeeping supplies, or a google search on beekeeping forums. One of the best ways to get involved is to find someone in your area who aleady keeps bees. It's quite a gentle hobby once you get past the initial fear.

  • thankyou :)

  • This makes me wanna have bees for security instead of dogs :)

  • They're actually quite gentle once they're established. But, like a barking dog, most people are afraid of them.

  • I opened the hive for the first time after waiting a week. They've built out the ten frames of foundation already. I'm going to add a second deep brood chamber this week to encourage their continued growth.

  • Good job on capturing the swarm - hope you get lots of honey from those girls!

  • Most people are surprised to see how fast the bees will move into a new hive. They practically flow into the entrance.
