  • Wow this is FUNKY

  • These cats were BADD! I've been a fan since the age of 13.

  • im just so glad that they got this great band on tape i saw them in the 70's and still see george and the boys now its 2011.....k-funk@myfunk.ning.com

  • beautiful

  • I use to pop-lock off this shit in the 6th grade, back when pop-locking was new on the scene, at least on the west coast, (1979-1980).

  • skeet is whipping that bass like it dissed his moms lol

  • My name is the One, some people call me the Funk! It's definitely Skeet on bass, with Dennis Chambers on drums. Bennie Cowan, Greg Thomas and Greg Boyer on horns. Michael "Clip" Payne on background vocals. Larry Fratangelo on percussion. Bernie Worrell on keyboards and Michael Hampton on lead guitar. Lige didn't play bass for Parliament/Funkadelic in those days.

  • Sounds like "Skeet" to me.

  • RIP to Diaper Man, Gary shider, Lead singer of this little diddy.

  • THIS is one of the best STRUTTING and ROBOTTING national athems ever!!!

  • Rest In Funk Gary.

  • Love this clip. Gary, Ray Davis (R.I.P) & Mallia Franklin (R.I.P) really smashed this Track.

  • @gettindown4dafunk Mallia passed away on us huh? This is the first time I've seen something on her performing. Good vid.

  • @cjjaxxon Gary also died early this month on the 16 or 17

  • @gettindown4dafunk Ahh man! First I heard of this. RIF Gary!!

  • It's Lige Curry on base. I have the entire video on tape.

  • My name is the one Some people call me the funk Here's a toast to the boogie! Said my name is the one Some people call me the funk, oh! I'll toast to that! And when I find a vacant booty I move right in on the rump, ooh! I'm like a camel Humpin' to please I'm up to my hump in funk, yeah Here's a toast to the boogie!
  • chuuurch!......

  • Does anyone do any funkier,Not

  • Yeah, I was at this tour. They played at the Santa Monica Civic here in LA on the Gloryhalastoopid Tour. They gave up the funk. Little known fact, George didn't plan on appearing on stage. He was planning to retire from touring to start the Uncle Jam label and manage the Parliafunkadelicment Thang. He planned to turn over the stage leadership to Garry Shider. He came out though, because everyone was screaming for George.

No it's not Jeff "Cherokee" Bunn on bass, it is Skeet!

  • Roger killed georges retirement plans

  • That's definitely Skeet on bass. Lige didn't even play bass on tour during the Parliament days. He sang backup. He didn't start playing bass on tour until long after they were touring as the P-Funk Allstars. Probably around 1987 or later.

  • The Funky Dennis Chambers On Drums

  • @grooveskin About 10 years ago, my buddy and I were about to go out and party and he said, I want you to checkout this drummer first. He pops in a video, and as much of a Pfunk fan as I've been since the early 70s, I'd never heard of Dennis. The first thing I noticed was how he held his sticks in a non-traditional manner, yet he kicked ass.

  • Where is the time machine? let's go!

  • I was at this show...I was eight. And I remember George turning into the donkey like on the album cover! Yo-Ho!!!

  • That's definitely Skeet on bass.

  • No H1N1 here.. Just on the 1. I got the FUNK Flu and shakin my ass is the cure.

  • Yeah, that sounds more like Skeet than Lige. Lige didn't have those kind of chops.

  • Back then the bass player was Rodney "Skeets" Curtis, on drums was Dennis Chambers, Benny on trumpet,Greg Thomas on sax, Greg Boyer on trombone. Larry Frantangelo on perc. The Baltimore Crew

  • Actually the Bass Player is Lige Curry

  • Correction: bass: Rodney "Skeets" Curtis

  • gary went off on vocals mallia franklin is in this she had a stroke recently right before she was perform with p funk.

  • rest in peace ray davis.

  • the one tour I missed, and I'm still regretting it :-(

  • The bass player is fukn killn me.WHOAAA

  • Who the funk iz on bass?sounds like skeet.

  • ah thatz a bootsey baby tha baddest bassplaya ever

  • nope!

  • Thoose muthafunkin' horns...love it.

  • FROM THE REEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAR...

  • All around the world for the funk

  • coutless times I was high jammin to dis"

  • one cubit inch of cosmic slop from a black hole weighs an incredible 10 BILLION TONS!!!!!! and this is heavier!!!!!!

  • "We dont cut, we just but in...so baby may I..have this dance ???"

  • Damn..after watchin' this..all of a sudden..I GOT JAM IN MY KNEES AND I'M READY TO SPREAD.

  • this song has drive an funk..oh yeah ..im jus like a camel

  • " toast to the boo-dee....feel that, feel that"

  • Well how else can you capture a booty, if you don't attack from the back?.......To the rear MARCH!

  • Aint is sho nuff funky in here?

  • It was Skeet not Cherokee, This was the Greatest Funk on Earth Tour of 81. In 1980 it was the Gloryhallastoopid tour not the Black Hole tour.

  • funk me oh funk me! please!

  • The tour was in a shambles by the time it made it to Atlanta that May. GC did not show nor did we see Sly. But this is some tight chyt here.

  • Jeff Bunn is so underrated!! Cherokee is off the meat rack!!! I love his style!!! Pfunk is a way of life!! 4 sure!! I love the change on this!! They took it to another place!! pure perfection!!

    Ira T

  • What's up, Ira! You're right, I've seen this a hundred times, lol. Never gets old, though...thanks for thinkin' about me, and sending this my way : )

  • MALLIA og parlet sang on the first 2 parlet albums plus sang on other p funk projectys loved her in parliament's peek a groove that was funky man she looks like a white girl not saying that's a bad thing though.

  • That Bass Player is off the chain!

    dex (zm)

  • Great Clip Gary's doing the Damn Thang. And I've always loved Sting Ray Davis. His voice is the deepest Bass I've ever heard. To me it was much deeper than Melvin Franklins of the The Temptations. No disrepect to Franklin but Ray Davis was the Deepest Bass in the the Universe. & still is

  • You probably already know this, but the Temps had respect for Ray Davis' bass, too. After Melvin Franklin died, Ray was the FIRST man to replace him.

  • Damn, that's some funky shit right there :-)

  • Thanks so much for posting this...it's dangerously addictive. Especially Skeet - dig that sound! AAAAHHH!!!

  • my bad.I just know the two shows in Detroit skeet did not play and Clevland.

  • Jeff Bunn on bass Cherokee I went to a couple of these shows at the time.On the tour Cherokee opened with The Brides same show.

  • To settle this debate once and for all, go to "One Nation Under A Groove, Pt. 2," taken from this same show, and go to the 16-second mark. At that point there is no question as to who the bass man is.

  • jeff Bunn cherokee on bass I Skeet did'nt play this tour I was at a couple of the shows on the Black Hole Tour.Cherokee at the time played dates the dates Skeet was unavailible

He also played with The Brides.

  • That is true but this ain't from the Black Hole tour. This is from the following year.

  • Skeet and Dennis Chambers all the way.

  • The Queen of Funk Mallia is out there too and those horns are blowing hard.

  • " I got jam in my leg, and Im ready to spread. " LOLL! That line cracks me up everytime I hear it.

  • how bout 'we don't cut in, we just butt in!'that line gets me.

  • I'll toast to that!

  • Jeff Bunn (cherokee) played bass on this tour not skeet.Cherokee has a different type of funk on bass.

  • I'm definitely gonna have to disagree. That definitely sounds like Skeet to my ears.

  • anyone know who is playing bass on this.... is it Lige Curry? there is no clip of the bassist buy if someone knows who was touring that be great. Cause it sure isn't Bootsy

  • Rodney "Skeet" Curtis

  • if your fake the funk your noise will grow.... p is the funk

  • I was born a decade too late!!!!

  • Me Too ¡¡¡

  • This version is off the hooK!

    cHUCk dA fONk

  • DAYUUUMM!!
