How does it weigh more than a Lightning? My Lightning weighed in at 3750lbs (1/2 tank of gas, 175lbs driver), and they say this Ranger (Lightning Bolt) is 3800lbs o_O
there is no point in making a sports truck or vehicle in general unless it is a manual u simply cannot get a vehicles true potential if it has an automatic transmission
@dpstarcom just because an automatic isn't ideal for a road course doesn't mean that it doesn't work excellently for consistent, easy, drag strip passes. But then again, if you're building something for drag racing, why even start with a truck in the first place ...
they should just supercharge the 4.0.. that would be beast enough. a triton 5.4 with a supercharger in a ranger is more something you should build for your own use. the only other truck in it's class that carries a v8 is a dakota, and that's a 4.7
this is no prototype...this appeared in magazines...cant remember but some dude built this...not ford....lol 5.4l in a ranger is overkill. a stock 4.6l would be enough...cobra engine overkill....useless having power when you cant put it to the ground
@oilfield666 its not a cobra power plant its out of a lightning and im thnking of doing the same with my 01 lightning that was hit by a drunk driver last year its ether fixing mine with a f150 frame and cab or puting my drive trane in a ranger i dont no yet but i miss my lightning
@boogdennard i was saying those engines are overkills....lightning engine...cobra...its useless putting those in a ranger unless you feel like fabricating an awd system.
imagine if they make it but with the ecoboost v6 and hell would brake loose i heard the ecoboost on the new f150 does 0-60 run in 6.2 secs without mods on a lighter truck dam fast
@JS00008 it was a 2wd concept truck with 345 rear tires, I'm no expert on tires but I reckon that it'd be pretty damn hard to break those loose unless you dont have any weight in the bed like you should.
@urmom4877 yeah i just commented that. if it had the eco boost it would be like a 4.2 sec truck. If the new f150 with the ecoboost is laying out like 6.2 in the 0-60 runs
I saw this at Tulsa, OK at the mid america ford meet. We talked them into taking it down the drag strip for the very first time and the throttle cable broke. It was kinkof funny.
hey elmo u evefr hear of a 305 sprint car they got a 305 makin 500hp and ive got two friends who have built theres to scream to 8000 rpm all day long and still live to tell the tale its all in the selection of parts and know how dont knockit till u know more about them
Soooooooo everyone think the next SVT should be a ranger? like two engine options.. a nice 4cycl. turbo.. or a V6 supercharged.. because a 5.0L superchagred in a ranger.. hate to say it.. would be too much ;)
The Chevrolet S-10 SS was a high performance version of the S-10, introduced in 1994. Fewer than 3000 SS's were produced yearly on average. When introduced, the SS was sold in only three colors: Onyx Black, Summit White, and Apple Red. The SS was discontinued in 1998. In 1999, it was replaced by the S-10 Xtreme.
Ive been in this truck before. Its kick ass. the lighting powerplant is set up to rev to 9000 rpms. The dude revved the truck for me and it litterally almost touched the odometer. Its stupid loud too.
I remember seeing this I think on Motortrend on TNN before it became spike like years ago but it never came out... I thought I saw one at a Ford dealership, had the badge and looked to be dual exhaust.
My fathers name is Dave Dempster...he is the guy who built this truck from the ground up when he worked at SVT. The only reason they could not manufacture this truck is becuase they had to do so much custom work to the chassis, that it would take weeks of fabrication to make just one.
hey i commented on here before i saw another truck (it was red) at one of our local malls where i live and it said lightning bolt with convincing decals and it looked badass!!! made my 04 ranger look like shit oh and google about saleen and there future sports trucks fuckin crazy ideas man
If they made this i think they should do some more work on the body to make it look less puny. Also, it would be really nice for ford to offer a crew or at least extended cab for a truck like this like the SRT10 finally did.
I believe I actually saw on of these in person one time. There is a Ford dealership by my house and I was at a Mercedes dealership with my friend and I had seen the lighting bolt on the show Trucks a long time ago and I saw the lighting bolt badge on the side of the truck and it had duel exhaust that didnt look aftermarket.

@Elmo187 there was an ss s10. it had a multiport 4.3 liter, 4l60e trans, positrac with low gears, reg cab shortbed, fleetside. it made over 200 hp and was available in red and white I havnt seen any other colors. it had body color trim, and red ss badges on the doors, and other than that it was pretty plain really/........I used to own a 1994.
