This is the greatest Solvejgs sang ever sung, and by the greatest soprano the world has seen. Thank you very much for placing it on Youtube, it made my norwegian heart jump in joy. :)
Galli-Curci's beautiful timbre is perfect for this lament; her later electric version is equally memorable. The song was a favorite of Tetrazzini's, who made a touching recording of it. Sutherland's singing of it is also admirable.
You are quite right. This record is a marvelous example of that uniquely delicate, rare alabaster timbre. And that fine-spun phrasing! Wonderful disk.
@meltzerboy Ilse Hollweg also made a pleasant recording f the song, in German, contributing to the Beecham conducted EMI set of Peer Gynt pieces issued in or about the late 1950s. There was also a nicely sung (English) version by April Cantelo, issued originally I think on the Unicorn label. and later by the World Record Club.
Thumbs up if 1916 Der Unbekannte Krieg Brought you here!

Also definitely worth hearing are the versions by Lucia Popp and Eileen Farrell.

Thank you for mentioning Popp, whose recording is sublime, and Farrell - I was not aware of her Solveig.
