Such lovely dogs! They remind me very much of my own Rat Terrier beloved friend... he died on Sunday.

Everyone, not that I presume you don't but, enjoy your doggies while they're still with you. Play with them, give them treats, let them make you happy and reciprocate. When they're gone one just doesn't know how they managed to make you love them so much and misses them too much. :S

@alfdo i lost one of my six last week it still hurts, she was abused by her previous owner a crazy mean breeder, but she was still the sweetest, it wasnt her time far from it, but she got attacked, we miss her so much and they are such great dogs to :(

You have a beautiful pair of Ratties. Just recently i got my first rat terrier and i was wondering if you could offer me some advice. Im not new to dogs, but new to ratties, growing up i was raised with Rotties and Labs. Right now he is about 5 Months old and is named Bronx. He already thinks he is a big dog and within the first few hours of him being home i fell in love with him.

Actually, I think it's more the opposite. We used to have a rattie, and when she was young, she loved EVERYBODY! And we all adored her, and she knew it. But the older she got, the more protective of US she became, to the point where she saw everyone outside of our family as a threat to her pack. So she would go into defensive mode on occasion whenever somebody new came over to the house. The can be VERY territorial. The problem we did was allowing her to think she was pack leader. Awesome dogs!

Yes, my son and I drove all over looking for good dogs and we found them about an hour away from our home, the breeder had both parents which was perfect and we knew we had good dogs.

Rat terriers love to please and are very intelligent, if you train them and socialize them very young you will have a very obedient dog at one year of age, I had no problems with either of my dogs and I've found them to be the easiest dogs to train ever. They are now in the AKC but you won't see them on the show circuit for another year or two. They are also great hunting dogs!

I meant to say Rat terriers are now listed with the AKC but it will still be a year or two before you start seeing a rat terrier in the AKC show ring.

Rat terriers should have short tight smooth hair. Although in the winter time my boys do have a thicker coat, they are shedding that right now though.

y'all know when rat terriers stop teething? We have a 3 month old rat terrier(Ladybug)and she tears thru everything.

probably around 8 or 9 months of age, she is only starting right now. Give her lots of chew toys and direct her towards them when you catch her chewing something she shouldn't be.

I think you're right. Our previous rat terrier(God rest her soul) tore things up before she got a year old, after that she was lively, but learned not to tear up things quickly.

My mother has a Rat Terrier named and we love the lil dude. Hes fast smart energetic and loyal as hell. He rocks. I responded with a video I made when me and my former girlfriend were in a battle over if my Rat Terrier or her Yorkie was better. Haha... btw rocky bodychecked Kiwi a number of times, LOL.

Yes, my ratties love to sleep under the covers and on my lap and as close to each other as they can get! I do have videos of my daughters Jack Russells, just haven't posted them.

i have a rat terrier too.her name is gypsy rose. shes so funny and protective, will bite in a heartbeat. she was abandoned as a puppy. she was 6 weeks old then, shes 3 now. when we found her there was no houses or people around.
