Mu isamaa, mu õnn ja rõõm ("My Fatherland, My Happiness and Joy") was adopted as the national anthem of the Republic of Estonia in 1920. The lyrics were written by Johann Voldemar Jannsen and are set to a melody composed in 1848 by Fredrik (Friedrich) Pacius which is also that of the national anthem of Finland. The song was first presented to the public as a choral work in the Grand Song Festival of Estonia in 1869 and quickly became a symbol of the Estonian National Awakening.
@NewDudeInHere actually Estonia and Finland had this rhythem because of similar cultures, but during the USSR, it was illegal to sing, but the Estonians nearest to Finland could hear it being broadcasted, reminding them of who they really were. henceforth, leaving this rhythem as the anthem of Estonia and Finland :)
It true this Anatems is similar to Finland one but not equal. I think that Estonia have not stolen the anathem from Finland but the origin of the two population are very similar too.

In Finland, music was composed by the German immigrant Fredrik Pacius, with (original Swedish) words by Johan Ludvig Runeberg, and was performed for the first time on 13 May 1848. Finnish text is usually attributed to the 1889 translation of Ensign Stål by Paavo Cajander, but in fact originates from the 1867 translation by Julius Krohn. With my last breath my thanks to thee, For true to death I'll ever be, O worthy, most beloved and fine, Thou, dearest country mine! **
i dont know why we have same melodys but i dont think it should make trouble to anybody we love this melody i love this song forever because i love my country. Estonia is a prostitute, who lays down under fascists, under communists, under the "European democracy". The nation of pigs, not free to think the brains because has no them.
@muxxamad i know history....and I know that Soviet have occupied Estonia for more than 50 year (1940-1991), without any right. Forunaltely Estonia has came free and indipendent from soviet 1991. Estonia belongs to Estonian and respect their right of self-determination
I'm just curious: How the hell wasn't Estonia able to find themselves an own melody for their anthem, instead of using the same melody as Finland has. (And yes We had that melody long before written by our national composer Fredrik Pacius)
All though Estonia is a great country, I'd really like to see them find their own anthem.
We DIDN'T copy Finnish anthem. When the melody reached Estonia estonians made their own words for it and started singing it as a national song but when Finland got free from the Russian Empire in 1917 they started using it as their anthem, then Estonia did the same in 1918 and we got along fine, then we were occupied for 50 years and now everybody's blaming us. The song has been a part of us for 90 years, we aren't going to change it. Today's people just can't get along, sad.
@NewDudeInHere estonia is "without russia" now we are and independent country and we want to be and we will be forever¡¡¡ , what o u mean with " all the other northern countries"?
