I have a friend that had an xbox(it broke becuase he kept moving it in and out of the cold, ps3 would break too) and xbox is in HD. on the power cord that connects into the xbox there is two settings HDD and normal. and there are red yellow and white cords, and the HD cords too.
The ripping games to the HD is ridiculous. You still need to insert the disc, they only put it in to apparently decrease loading times on games. Except most games slow down.. I was in GTA IV and the entire map wasn't loaded properly, it was blurry as shit.
Bungie even sent out a message to people telling them not to rip Halo 3 to the HD because it wouldn't function properly.
Well downloading games to the hard drive speeds up load times and keeps games from freezing. Freezing games seems to be a new feature that comes with NXE. lol kinda not kidding

heh. 80's arcade games used infared motion sensing first. in 2000, MS made a motion sensor controller for PC games. PLUS the wii uses infared, PS3 uses bluetooth.
wii uses both, ir for the pointing sensor, and bluetooth for data transfer. (and the pointer data is also sent via bluetooth, the sonsor-bar only gives the wiiMOTE a spot to set as center.

I very much like this whole update thing. It looks a lot cleaner and smoother.
The only thing that I'm bothered by is the blatant Mii rip-offs. The ripping to HD is, in my opinion, a really great idea.
Of course you still have to insert the disc, otherwise people would be buying and returning games all the time.
I ripped Fallout 3 to my HD, and it plays so well now. Takes about 5 seconds to load up, no video glitches, and it runs so smoothly.
Although, it does take a lot of space.
That's the only downside.

eg. put game in XBOX, it comes up as unreadable, but on the dashboard it says GTA IV instead of 'Open Tray'.

& it increases the life of you drive (mechanism & laser).

no, you still have to put the disc into the xbox for the game to play. what that does is tell the xbox that you actually have the game each time you go to play it, and that you don't have an illegal copy that you didn't pay for. what the HDD rip does is remove loading times an decrease the fan noise

the saving to hdd reduces noise temprature and loading times due to the disc not spinning but you will still need the disc to varyfy you bought the game legit(not pirate)

they obviously didn't think of the money when they made it possible to rip games onto your HDD, people will just hire the game and rip it and then be able to play it whenever they want!

I very much like this whole update thing. It looks a lot cleaner and smoother.
The only thing that I'm bothered by is the blatant Mii rip-offs. I've been loyal to Nintendo since the beginning, and have supported the Xbox since it launched, but why such a blatant example of unoriginality? I wish I could get the update without the "new" avatar system. It'd really make the update perfect to me.

the 120gb comes with a cable that allows you to transfer data but i the 60gb does not an i heard that the data cable does not work for 20gb to 60gb

Because you can download the games onto the xbox from the CD coundnt you go to a vedio rental place rent the game for 6.99 download it then take it back. that means you would of got the game for only 6.99$.
