@Trav450ER Rod to stroke ratio is reason I went with 331. At 331 the rod to stroke ratio is very good and makes for less skirt loading. 347 is done for the cubes and nothing more and the rod stroke ratio is horrible which makes for a short lifespan which doesn't matter in a drag car.
@Trav450ER WRONG WRONG WRONG!!! The 347 is still based on the 302 block, there in where the difference comes into play is the 347 has a less favorable rod to stoke ratio than the 331. The pin hole had to be moved further up or closer to the ring land area of the piston which early on caused some oil consumption problems along with some durability issues. This has since been corrected.
@ckelley63 How has is since been corrected? I look up kits every now and then and i dont see any changes. Only reason i stated that was simply because if im going to drop a wad into a motor like that, i want it to last quite some time before it needs a rebuild!
@Trav450ER It's all in the piston my friend, on a strip only motor not much of an issue, but on the street is another matter, As I stated earlier to get the combo to work on the 347 the pin hole had to be moved further up into the ring land area of the piston. On a street strip piston for this combo most of the reputable manufactures have addressed this issue by moving the pin hole back down a little away from the ring land area.
@Trav450ER I forgot to mention that whever your order you kit from to let them know that it will be used on the street . That way you can be shyre to get the proper piston. Check out coast performance, the make a good kit for the money.
bronco302efi.... kremecheez . I did hear that there was some issues but that was way back, As long as you go with good pieces 347 will be fine, I have one in my 93 Cobra, very pleased with it. I also had a 505 Chevy which was the same ring to pin spacing... it was just fine. do you own research, glad I went with the 347 rather than 331, Whip on those all day long.

This is the only year that they came close to each other (until DOHC, terminator variants, variable cam timing etc), and the F body had 30 lb ft on the mustang then too. Every year since, the LT1 and its successors have increased in power in step with their displacements. Give credit where credit is due....dumbfuck
