  • Where is Heman? :/

  • Anyone else get tingles from these opening songs?

  • wuuuuut !? the phantom was in a cartoon with other dudes no way :O

  • Great choice for number 1. Wheel warriors was my favorite intro.

  • Agree 100% with info145

  • Visionaries (big failure, quick cancellation), Dinosaucers (cornball name and idea), Spiral Zone (a 30 minute commercial), Orbots (everyone had a "Voltron"), Galaxy Rangers (excellent storyline), M.A.S.K. (great intro, not a bad cartoon), Defenders of the Earth (a classic made of classics), Pole Position (a video game promotion cartoon), Jem (another toy TV sales pitch), Wheeled Warriors (deserved 1st place, my personal favourite intro)

  • 240p.. we meet again

  • Comment removed

  • Omg never mind I found it hahha Dinosausers! :D

  • Can anyone help me here, I remember a cartoon movie where a guy uses his shoe lace, a berry and a saftey pin to catch a fish on a river, and there are these little ship things that are in his desk or somethign. Thanks lol been bugging me for years, cant think of it. - Aron :)

  • how come there was so much science space-fiction at that time??

  • classssssssssssics

  • they sound almost the same

  • everyone always overlooks the best, starblazers was an 80's cartoon here in the states and robotech was mid 80's

  • Epicness!

  • 90s sure was the best time of cartoons

  • Spiral Zone = #1!

  • Well I have genuinely only heard of 3 of those (Mask, Defenders of the Earth and Wheel Warriors)

And every one except for the girl show was exactly the same.

There obviously weren't much variety in Amaerican TV in those days.

  • pole position must hav a full anthum

  • Wait, Dinosaucers was created by Michael E Uslan... the guy who produced every Batman movie since the Tim Burton one?!

  • @Ksawarrior right.

  • I liked the intros to Centurions, G-Force, and Bionic Six.

  • 80s cartoons and the intros are awesome unfortunately these are not them I was born in 81 and only remember a couple of these..pretty bad these give the 80s a bad name

  • Dinosaucers ??? WTF ? Sorry not even close to the top ten, more like 200th place.

  • @xshadowdancer Yeah, I was never really fond of Dinosaucers...

  • EPIC!

  • i lost it at dinosaurs.....

  • These are some pretty obscure cartoons. I was a cartoon junkie in the 80's and I only recognize M.A.S.K., Defenders of the Earth, and Jem. Bottom-line, though...the 80's were great!

  • Wow, I did nothing but watch TV for the whole of the 80s and I remember absolutely none of these. I'm guessing they never made it to the UK. Did you not have Battle of the Planets, Dangermouse, Mysterious Cities of Gold, Dungeons and Dragons, Inspector Gadget, Ulysees, Belle and Sebastion, Count Duckula, Dogtanian and the Muskahounds or Willo the Wisp

  • I remember maybe half of these. I was born in 1988 so my memories of the 80's are slim. But my 80's favs were muppet babies and alvin and the chipmunks and inspector gadget!

  • Good old 80s. <3

  • Dinosaucers? That was the best they could come up with?

  • The only one of these I had heard of before was M.A.S.K. The only one I don't like was Jem. EWWWWWW!

  • NO SABER RIDER???!!!

    wth bro :c

  • Transformers ???????

  • @derby1980toysfigure Everyone knows Transformers.

  • The 80's was a dark time for animation and writing. God just the plots are are painful for most of these.

  • the last one's lead character had Rogue hair. don't deny it, you know you thought of that energy absorbing mutant when you saw his hair!

  • Ok, i don't remember ANY of those except Jem which was awesome. Where the heck is He-Man, She-Ra & Thundercats on this list?

  • uhhhhh..........how about TRANSFORMERS? VOLTRON? SILVERHAWKS? GI JOE? COME-ON. I appreciate your attempt at being obscure, but none of these songs hold a candle to some of the more well known themes from that time.

  • No voltron ???? Smh

  • Why aren't the gummibears theme on hte list?

  • But based on a few you loaded. Yes awesome. We see where transformers and Gi Joe came to be. Thanks.

  • Agree no Joe or transformer. I'm

    35

    And there on top too

  • no GIJoe or Transformers? Fail.

  • visionarys

  • i used to watch an epic show with a superhero that came out in the night an he/she had like a black leapord i forgot what its called, can somebody help me out.

  • Wow, the were really obscure cartoons. For best theme song, not bad, but where was Kid Vid?

  • Where voltis 5

  • While I'm not surprised by how craptastic these all were, I was amazed that I had only even known of the existence of one of the ten shows, the truly wretched "Jem." Yikes! I'm glad I grew up on "Superfriends" and Bugs Bunny and Tom and Jerry!

  • that Jem intro was impressively well animated!

  • people like to say how cartoons now suck, but there are actually as many good cartoons nowadays too! Avatar the last Airbender, Ben 10 was pretty decent and the new Transformers and Thundercats are also pretty cool! Not to say that 80s and 90s cartoon were bad, they were actually pretty good, like Thundercats for example.

  • There's a few classic gems missing from this list, but I know it's hard to get them all together.

  • MASK was the shit

  • i dispute your opening, Robotech should have been on here.

  • Dang, that is some epic music!

  • 0:45 My brain exploded. From then on, I don't remember anything that happened.

  • NO INSPECTOR GADGET? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

  • no ulysees at #1, WTF, if this is based on intros

  • where the f*ck is Captain Planet? the best !!!!! WHERE ..? grrrr

  • I just barely remember some of those turds.

MASK is awesome. Did Foreigner do some of those? LOL. Visionaries was awesome too.

How many of those shows we're completely driven by a line of lame ass toys?

Should have added at least 5 or 10 others.

Centurions, GI Joe, Transformers, Silverhawks, Cops, HeMan, Thundar, Go-Bots (yeah I said it), StarBlazers (probably #1), Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends was even catchy.

  • MASK for the win!

  • i hate you

  • Theeese are the Adventures of the ... GALAXY RANGERS!!

  • The themes for cartoons back then were awesome too!

  • I guess this is your opinion of the best cartoon's of the 80's. I only know of 2 of them. Jem and Mask the others never heard of them.

  • Secret spies among us!? we must eliminate the Dinosaucer threat!

  • my theory for one of the reasons we hate those times is for long time ago we could dream, imagne and create movie serieses about future and stuff.and now when the future has come we are kinda disappointed and not satisfied.

  • 3:33 "In 2086 peaceful aliens came seeking our help. Unfortunately, we kinda shot them out of the sky because we're paranoid like that. And then the actually evil aliens showed up, turned out to be much more powerful, and curb-stomped us. D'oh."

  • Jacye had daddy issues.... :/ That was the best? nah... I personally thought The Bionic Six was better then that one.

  • pretty cool music! I've never heard of any of these shows, besides Jem! If it wasn't on Nickelodeon in 1987-1991 it didn't really exist to me.

awesome songs, but plenty of G.I. Joe/Voltron/Speed Racer cloneage, lol.

    2:44 - Go, Daddy Warbucks!

    3:33 - In the year 20X6?

  • No wonder 80's cartoons are a billion times better then todays cartoon. The intro are catchy, the storys had a plot and had character development. No wonder todays teen perfer japanese cartoons over american ones...

  • ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FUCKIN MIND!!! WHERE ARE THE THUNDERCATS!! AND Y AREN'T THEY #1!!!!

  • Oh mann the 80's were so good mann

  • A lot of the negative comment's must be from people who were not born in or around the decade of the 80's. Thank you for posting these awesome themesong's. from someone born in 1977 =)

  • Im really sorry but seriously WTF. I know il never experience the eightys but Dinosausers?! WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU GUYS ON! ITS LIKE PUFF THE MAGICAL DRAGON WAS SMOKING MARUJUANA WHILE WATCHING TURASIC PARK!

  • @frankyman321 hey i hate that cartoon too.....but look at the others ..plus this is his personal favourite....

  • I never new pole position had a cartoon. I played

The game on Atari as a kid. Mask was one of my all time favorite childhood cartoons. I actually would steal the action figures from the toy store when I was a kid. Don't judge me.

  • I was born too freaking late...

    The early 90s.

But hey, at least I remember Dexter's Lab, the Powerpuff girls, Johnny Bravo and the Animaniacs, and owned a PS1 game about the first 2.

  • @DeloreandudeTommy you were born in a good era. i remember growing up as a teenager in most of the 90's. until 96 i became 20 .i would say the 90s were still pretty decent .but nothing compared with the 80's if you were a kid from the 80's you pretty much knew that from 6 am at saturdays til noon the tv was a every kids must i mean who ever had a tv at home.then after the cartoons were over the playgrounds waited for us all outside,..so i think nothing done today can compare with the old days

  • Dinosaurs+Jets=MINDBLOWN!!!!!

  • It's probably been said on here a thousand times, but how was ThunderCats not on this list? People cover it all the time on Youtube on their own guitars and stuff. I guess cuz there's not much to the lyrics of the theme. I have to say this is a great list though... LOVIN' Jem, and Dinosaucers!!

  • Why the catroons that targeted the girls were so stupid?

    We weren't.

  • There was this show with the agent dogs. i loved that one

  • man i was born in the 90s

  • The first 8 sound exactly the same, i guess there was only 1 band who made all of those themsongs

  • 1:20 epic photobombing

  • appreciate the memories and a reminder of how old im getting!!! haaa!!!

  • there was nothing quite better than Galaxy Rangers on a Saturday morning:)

  • Thank you so so much for including Jem and the Holograms (and the Misfits, of course!) in your video! <3

  • No He-man Masters of the Universe, GI Joe, or Star Blazers? Most of the ones one the list only lasted on season.

  • @darkguardian1314 I think he was just thinking of how awesome the songs were not how long the shows were. Even if a show had 10 episodes if it had an awesome theme song it had an awesome theme song.

  • @darkguardian1314

totally agree with you. and don't forget the transformers.

  • @darkguardian1314

I love He-Man and G.I.Joe as much as anyone can, but their intros didn't rock like these did.

  • 70s-90s=BEST YEAR EVA

    50s-70s=ok

    2000-2011=very very bad years

  • @THEAWESOMEKILLA1 A-FUCKING-MEN

  • @THEAWESOMEKILLA1 you're wrong. Most of the good stuff is underground so you don't know about

  • @THEAWESOMEKILLA1 you got Pokemon Theme Song :P

  • @fantafinn That was 90s

  • people actually worked hard for things like character development, dialogues and background music

  • @nishantsirohi123 are you serious? 80's shows had some of the worst dialogue ever

  • spiral zone -3 wish these old days come back =(

  • Spiral zone? from what I got is something like X-Com: Tengen Toppa stalker lagan

  • I have a feeling that somewhere he forgot to rate by theme and and not to rate by favourite show

  • Jayce! W00t!

I'd never heard of some of these (Spiral Zone looks awesome, have to check it out), but I do think Transformers's opening qualifies as a top-10 opening. Ninja Turtles too. But I'm not sure which I'd bump off of this list to make room, so I have to say: Good job. My hat's off to you.

  • @kafkonia

Spiral Zone came on weekdays morning about 7-8, so you likely missed it while grumbling about going school (I did).

  • @Vebinz Yeah, that's probably it. Weirdly, I just found 3 of the 4 issues of the Spiral Zone comic book in the 50 cent bin this weekend... I should've bought'em.

  • As a 16 yearold, why in the bloody hell is these cartoons shitty these days?

  • @CubanoRicanTony360 Not just cartoons all shows are shit these days. Mostly because now shows are just filler to put in between commercials.

  • i was born in 86 and i loved these cartoons, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle was my favourite :)

  • Thanks for this video, I had completely removed the memory of these cartoons!

  • I agree with Defenders of the Earth theme, the Mask theme is fantastic, I KNEW Pole Position was going to be there and Jem too. The other six tracks were pretty forgettable. I would have placed Muppet Babies as #1. The vocal harmonies in that are fantastic. I would have included Robotech FOR SURE because the multi section instrumentals are just great. I can't think of another right off hand that I thought was musically special. I did like Heathcliff but just mainly because it sounds crazy. Than

  • viejos recuerdos

  • 90's*

  • Meh 9's weren't so bad either, though todays is outright horrible-

  • mmh I am here to have fun

  • Fck you @williammoller9..

had to scroll back so many pages to understand what @nordicberserk comment meant..

    and damn he's right.. X(

  • I'm in awe of how hard the Defenders of the Earth singer rocks. He doesn't do anything half-assed, even recording the theme to some shitty cartoon, he insists on rocking as hard as he can.

  • Wow I've never heard of any of these. From the 80's I'd definitely have included TMNT and Gummy Bears. Duck Tales too.

  • Dino SAUCErs.

  • i miss those good old days. like this if u agree?

  • WHAT! WHAT ABOUT THE TRANSFORMERS?!?!

  • LONG LIVE THE 80'S

  • I was born in 93 :[ then these cartoons didn't exist anymore :[

  • pole position one of my faves

  • YEAH cartoons like comic books! and old sci fy's that's the what it should be like!

  • Oh crap! The adventures of the Galaxy Rangers are free masons!

  • omg i miss the old shows today i finally gave up on watching disney channel cartoon network and nickeloedeon i hate the new shows and miss the old the only thing i see are musicals in EVERY episode like alls they do is SING i miss all that , hey arnold edd ed and eddy , recess out , and ALL those shows before 2005 when the shows became bad now i have to wait until 10 or 11 to watch my favorite nickeloedeon shows and i hate it i miss the old days :(

    THUMBS UP IF YOU AGREE

  • thunder cats old is gold from Pakistan adil alim a

  • I still think Silverhawks had a better intro. What other cartoon had an epic arpeggiated solo from a metal guy in a cowboy hat, in space, while he was simultaneously flying a spacecraft that poops rainbows?

  • I'm 39 years old and I agree with you:today's cartoons are filled withviolence ans sex...is so sad that our kids have to be exposed to that kind of trash!!!Excellent video ravenphoenix!!!Thanks a lotIt made me remember a lot of things t!!!

  • Damn you 80's and all your lasers and epic music!

  • In relation to the modern counterpart of the "space mecha type series" The only exception from the 80's that I feel can compete with (90's 2000's future mecha such as EVA and Gurren Laggen) would be mobile suit Gundam. That shit was dope, but even then, I feel like it only got better in the 90's with addition of wing, and my personal favorite 8th MS team.

  • I have seen many of the 80's cartoon, but I still much prefer many of the cartoons from the 90's, such as Hey Arnold, Rugrats, Doug and the like. Rather than most of the action coke induced hair metal magical girl esque feel of the majority of cartoons of the 80's. While there some cartoon were still scary and fun like ren and stimpy and rocko's and courage, many of them dealt with real life lessons.

  • where the hell is dino riders?

  • i disliked because my sister liked Jem and i cut the hair off all her dolls

  • O man! SOOOO good!

  • I remember everyone of these and their toys. USA channel had most of these playing on Saturday mornings if I remember correctly. 80's cartoons rock. Specially MASK. I had a bunch of their toys.

  • Also.. all these cartoons were just major marketing tools for selling toys, lol :)

  • Maybe cartoons back then weren't better, we were just younger and had more imagination!

The music was definitely better :D

  • 1:20 1:27 dinosaur turd?

  • The black haired girl from Pole position looks excatly like me.

  • no wonder I never had a girlfriend in the 80's! not hat I was a little kid just the cartoons were to cool!!! LOL

  • "YOUTUBE: Until somebody invents a time machine, there's no better way to relive your childhood"

  • i agree with u 100 percent

  • Back in the day

  • watched gi joe, transformers, ghost busters, thundercats, Heman and the masters of the universe... never heard of any of these cartoons.....

    might look into them

  • I was the 10,000 like :D

  • 9.999 likes xD

  • pretty cool, except you left out the best 3. Transformers G1, GI Joe, and Thundercats....

  • @FutureCSICrystal come on, you can't beat Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors :P

  • Uoraleeee solo conoci 4 caricaturas jajajaja las demas ni idea dek tratan jejjeje

  • Transformers dude! where the hell are they!

  • Where is the Centurions? i really miss them

  • Of all the ones you included, I really would have put Pole Position at #1.

I also would have included Mysterious Cities of Gold.

  • meh :/

  • awww now I'm all sad I was born in the late 80s and never heard of any of these...I know G.I. Joe, Thundercats, Speed Racer, Johnny Quest, Transformers to name a few thanks for the intro

  • Awesome! Thanks for bringing back memories!

  • THIS guy! Dude YOUR choice of 80's songs are crap! What the hell are you a fuckin mormon?

  • 80's was space and robot crazy eh? xD

  • WHAT ABOUT CAPTAIN PLANET :O

  • PMSL at how awful all thse are

  • Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs FTW

  • hm tell me the way you wann feel me, make me hot, and get hot with me

  • M.A.S.K Loved That even tho it only stayed on 1yr...the good ole dayz

  • Yeah, that was the 80s. Ugh.

  • 6:04 its all about MANdrake!!

  • 80's really fucked up...

  • OMG!! I'd totally forgotten about Pole Position! I used to watch that all the time. Seeing it here nearly made my head explode with excitement! I can't actually remember if it was any good or not but who cares!

  • @williammoller9 Well I gues that says a lot about you...

  • @nordicberserk your answer actually fits to the 1st top comment too ;D

  • How come i don't know any of these....

  • What are these cartoons? XD

Galaxy Rangers sounded cool up until they gave the title and the song came on.. lol

  • Being born in 1995, im thinkin i really missed out xD

  • I was getting worried when Jem was number 2. Thankfully you redeemed yourself with number one. But seriously some of those choices were just... odd

  • 80's animation: making your cartoon theme songs lame in comparison ever since 1983-1990

  • Dude where's Cops? that was the best Intro ever
