This has the potential of being a foreshock.. there's about a 26 hour window from the first quake. Some amateur geologists in forums I frequent are projecting a possible 7.8+ as the main earthquake within that 26 hour window.. Hopefully this is a false alarm, but right now it's looking just like it could be part of a swarm like we've seen lately.

I'm in Ashland VA , very close to the center of it. It wasn't pleasant. A 5.9 in VA is more serious than it would be on the west coast b/c rocks are larger & more dense causing a lot more vibration than it would on the west coast.. Things were shaking & falling here but no damage to speak of. The news is making a big deal out of it in NY & DC but have not covered it in the areas where it's actually a hot spot. Guess it reminded some of the vibrations felt on 911. I can understand that.

Hi Sis!! 5.9 is definitely noticeable especially if you were sitting still when it happened! I lived in the Bay Area for a number of years and I got so good I could tell the rollers from the shakers in about two seconds flat!!!! The rollers were the worse! Your brain doesn't want to accept what you are seeing and feeling!! Yes we had a quake yesterday in south Colorado. The one we don't want to hear from is in Yellowstone.
