Lol I was simply stating what we say. I agree Americans are ignorant though. but then again I believe humans in general are ignorant. You can find ignorance in anything really. But I respect your opinion. It always amazes me to see the differences among cultures and how they divide people who are just the same as them. Human.

In America we do not say these things. We say shoot the breeze. But not that often. Its kind of an older saying here. We usually say we.were.talking

Probably not a great expression. A little dated. I would go with "having a gab" or just having a chat.
