"My mum calls me a sweater... because I sweat alot." -Marcus Mumford
Nonetheless, there's no doubt how much freakin' emotion he (as well as the other dudes) put into this. I nearly shed a tear just watching him. Oh, the things M&S does to me...
Although I am so glad these boys are so talented and can write songs to help them deal with the crap in life, it worries me a little. They put their whole heart and soul into EVERY song EVERY time they sing. They can't keep that up forever. But then they do something fun like a train ride from heaven with their friends. So, maybe they're ok!
Watching his body language, I'd guess that it is sweat after about 3:00. But before 1:50, he is trying not to tear up. Either way, you are left with the feeling on most of their songs that they are personal enough that Marcus sometimes has problems getting through them.
I just can't get enough of this video! taytape, you are so right about that. I still can't figure out if in the end it is tears or sweat coming from Marcus's eyes, but this song must be very emotional for him (he is visibly moved at the end), so I think that it could be a bit of both. Love these gentlemen so much!
I dont know what just happened to my ears.I cant understand how four lads can have 1 million times more talent than should be physically possible.I mean, how can they manage to write songs so fucking well and put emotion and thought into every word? How is it that marcus struggles to reach that note but still hits it perfectly? How is it that winston taught himself the banjo and it still the best iv ever heard?Fucking wow. And the best part is that they r all as good as eachother at singing. <3 xx
fucking best band on the planet right now bar none......will be legends when they are gone....up there with people like zeppelin, the pogues.....stones....the who..oasis....fucking legends
@coldworld99 As much as I would love to believe that, I doubt it will happen, these guys are that status to me, yet the general populace will wish the same for shitty artist like Lil Wayne and those wankers.
Hard to believe that every M and S song has a verse that I can sing for a few days and then I listen to a different Mumford Song. The cycle repeats again and again. I love that I can't help but change my favorite song every few weeks or so, haha.
I would love to be able to feel what marcus feels when he plays a song. I think he went through a bad break up even divorce and he blames himself for what he did, he must to miss his ex a lot. Its what id do if that was my situation, anyway, he makes me think a lot about my experiences and I would love to sing a song with that passion.
Marcus writes from the heart, you can tell, not just from the emotion they show while singing but also because of how the songs just kind of cut you open, too. You feel what they feel, and it's sad and beautiful as the same time. I will never stop listening.
@fenderguy07 your words, perfect. I listen every night as if they were a prayer. It weighs heavy on a tired mind but you greet the sun a little differenty.
The fact that he sheds a tear at the end of this song is proof of the emotion and sentiment that this band puts into writing and playing each of their songs. This song is breathtaking
Aside from roll away your stone and the cave I think this song is a new favorite. So powerful and moving. I too find their music healing in times of pain...
The band as a whole is amazing beyond mere words...but the level of emotion that Marcus shows during each and every performance is epic. It makes me feel amazing.
They played this as an encore in Santa Barbara, and Marcus was definitely emotional. After the song he thanked the crowd saying "thank you for the best gig of my life". To see these guys play is an experience like none other. I don't know how they can keep up the energy and emotion, but their live shows are absolutely spiritual. Having all but given up on music there are really no words for the gratitude I have for this band.
I've been feeling down lately and listening to them helps with the pain...how can you hurt when listening to these guys. I am totally in love with Winston and Marcus..in fact the whole band.. but I always smile when I listen to them...and for the record I am a 55 year old mother... but this music crosses all age barriers I love this and my son for introducing me to them.
@tsimpson12 I f you do a search for Mumford and sons london 2011, theres a vid of a song called Walk Slow they played at that venue, guess they decided on a name. They played 3 or 4 other new songs there as well like Broken Crown, Below My Feet, Nothing is Written and some crazy old folk song about a baker named Angeline I think. Unfortunately all the vids are from camcorders and sound quality is low.
Saw them play in chicago twice this last year. The concert on halloween changed my life. They are an amazing band full of men with amazing talent. I hope they keep making music for years to come.
Does anybody have any idea where i can get the mp3 for this? Absolutely breathtaking. And as much as i'd like to believe those are tears in Marcus' eyes, i cant help but think 'well he DOES sweat a lot with all those instruments and stuff.' lol. I cant wait for the new album!
1) He refers to their songs as "our babies" in the beginning.
2)The song itself. That has to be one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.
3) I'm pretty sure he's crying at the end of the song. Look at his eyes and the single tear running down his cheek. Some of that is sweat, but I'm pretty sure there's some tears mixed in there as well.
This song is awesome. I liked this band from Little Lion Man, but after their Grammy performance (which was amazing) they are one of my favorite bands.
Gaise... regarding the sweat/tears thing...
