  • Amanda Holden is hot hunny..not sure what she does but..

  • He is so adorable ..that;s why I love him ..He is so serious man but he can be so funny and then you understand that he is not idiot as many believe by watching Fri and Laurie !!!such clever and talented

  • lol doctor house is British? his american accent is perfect

  • isnt that the woman from britains got talent?

  • omg awwwww! hugh is adorable at the end! x3

  • Comment removed

  • Why are people slating Amanda Holden all of a sudden? You can't label her as "ignorant" just from a 1 and a half minute clip! Unless you know her, then I suggest you don't judge a book by it's cover!!

  • Hugh Laurie. making women cream, one babe at a time :))

  • I think he loos better now tan then...his accent is stronger too

  • I had to look this Amanda Holden up on the internet (I am not for the UK). I do not want to judge this woman too quickly, but she already annoyed me based on what I saw in this clip: she comes across as ignorant and somewhat desperate for attention. Based on the huge amount of negative comments about her in general, poor Amanda does not seem to be one of Britains National Treasures, is she?

  • @CF1975 Agreed. But she can slap me like that any time she likes.

  • Aw he looks so young! ^^

  • @PsychoHellKat Haha, yeah, he does look young but honestly, I think he's the kind of guy that seems to look better and better with age! =D It's definitely the stubble!

  • Excuse me, but who is she? I recognise her but what has she done?

  • @Babsan11 she is Amanda Holden. She appeared on the Royal Variety Show and now hosts Britain's Got Talent, where the winner also gets a spot on the Royal Variety Show

  • @gasdacia

Thank you!!! Then I think I saw her in 4.50 from Paddington, Agatha Christie.

    Take care!

  • Excuse me, but who is the woman? I recognise her but who is she, what has she done?

  • What episode of house is this?

  • Are you having a larf?

It's a talkshow in the UK.

  • he's too hot to be true. My father is the same age as him, but...honestly, who cares? It's not the age...it's...him. His attitude, his eyes, him. He's sexy (though for self-deprecating Hugh this must sound weird). And funny and extremely charming and brilliant.

  • @MirandaScully

    japierdole, nie zesraj sie

  • OMG he doesn't have a beard or scruffled hair :|

    it's so odd...

  • @162andsinglebaby,,, yep but keep in mind that this was recorded before he became "House", the "American" Doctor with a bad-ass attitude!

  • I never thought he 'd rise above Atkinson...

  • Seeing hugh and amanda gave me an idea: what if Hugh judges an episode of a talent show in character as House? He'd probably be better than Simon Cowell : )

  • Actually, in a chat he participated in some time ago, where fans were able to ask him questions, the question of him paying a visit as a judge in American Episode was asked. I think, if I remember correctly, he said he approved of the idea, but didn't think he would be a good one (the usual self-deprecating Hugh).

  • This would be funny, but producers would never go for it. Talent shows are intended to come off as reality, and including a fictional character would detract from this illusion.

  • Also, watch "Blackadder" seasons 3 and 4, he's awesome in those. Also, one or two episodes of season 2.

  • Oh wow, I couldn't imagine by now, that he knows how to use a razor... =D

  • "wow, he's aged a lot in the past 6 years!"

Maybe so, but he seems to be aging remarkably well, doesn't he?

    Maybe it's the stubble.

  • @xanxei It's definitely the stubble! =D It makes him look.... well... really good! =)

  • It's the facial hair more than anything that's aged his look. Take that off and he'll look younger again.

  • I went to Wikipedia searching for Holden and I found out that her birthday is today! Quite the coincidence.

  • lol Thats so cool! Aparently Hugh Laurie's birthday is June 11th, same as mine!

  • And the same as my father's. When Hugh turned 50 last june, my dad turned 41. I think Hugh is the sexiest thing in a world. Kinky much? : DD

  • btw: if you know 23 people or more, statistics say there is a larger nath 50% chance one of these will have the same birthdfay as you.. or your father 8-)

  • Amanda Holden is such an idiot and has such an ego. Hugh obviously wasn't talking about her - I'd imagine the gossip mags she tries so hard to get into (on the back of actually doing - what exactly?) are really not his usual reading matter!

  • God, I hate amanda! At 0:31 I just wanna say, get your hands off him! He's mine!

    She just kinda buts in!

lol! Hugh is so adorable. Love him to bits. x

  • i LOVE amanda!!

  • Mr. Laurie's comedy work is really quite impressive. If you haven't already, you should check out "A Bit of Fry and Laurie" and "Jeeves and Wooster".

  • don't let the his commercial show (and the fan girls) blind your perception about him. he is an amazing talent. even in house, he's still an incredibly good actor, although the plots themselves are rather silly. go watch fry and laurie, jeeves and wooster. heck go find "peter's friend" and watch it (sweet sweet movie imo)

that and you spelt stephen fry's name wrong. twice. i'll have to smack you now.

  • @merdufer I'm sure Stephen would enjoy that smacking too..

  • Oh, goodness-

I'm fairly certain there's nothing more adorable than a befuddled British man, not to mention the fact that it's Hugh Laurie.

This really does look like something that could have been a Fry and Laurie sketch, as long as Stephen Fry ends up punching him in the end, of course.

  • LOL he managed to turn it into a fry and laurie sketch.

  • "There's something very English about that, isn't there?" Oh Hugh, please stay very English about it all!

Amanda Holden is very sweet here and who'd mind having Laurie throw himself at you.

  • Where's the rest? Parkinson and Hugh are wonderful, always so entertaining

  • Wooster is House? Man do I feel stupid..

  • I don't think she was actually offended, just joking around, but she was referring to the "cheap stuff to put in magazines" comment as though he was talking about her.

  • Gentleman !

  • He's a very attractive man with great personality

  • Am I missing this - why does what he said refer to Amanda Holden? He appeared to be commenting on fame in general surely?

  • Amanda Holden is such a touchy fuckwit here.

    Woot for Hugh!

  • Amanda is hot!

  • who's that woman?

  • "I'm in big trouble now aren't I?"

  • Amanda Holden.

  • Hugh Laurie.

  • haha poor poor hugh :)

  • I've seen it several times, and every time I absolutely like it. Would you perhaps have the entire interview? or something more? puhplease!? DO have anything else from this interview?

  • sa donne koi en français SVP ?

  • so good to hear laurie with the British accent!!

  • People from wales speak nothing like that.

People from scotland sound nothing like that.

in fact, i'd say the amercian accent is closer to the english accent than countries bordering england - therefore, do say english accent rather than 'british' :)

  • point taken..my apologies if i offended u!

  • I totally get your point, but you have to understand that sometimes it's hard for people who don't have a familiarity with the different flavors of British accents to tell the difference. People from Brooklyn sound nothing like people from Atlanta, but we don't take offense at the term "American accent." If you can't tell the difference, it's better to go for general than, say, start talking about "Sean Connery's beautiful Irish accent."

  • But people from Brooklyn and people from Atlanta are still American in the grand scheme of things, english people and welsh people are from 2 different countries therefore i feel they deserve their own recognition in their own rights rather than being generalised as we so often are as 'British'

  • Fair enough...but I have to point out...with all due respect, England, Scotland, and Wales are all part of the island called Great Britain, making all three "British." Additionally, while England, Scotland, and Wales have very different histories, they are, legally, citizens of the same country.

  • no, we're all citezens of the same island, different countries - Great Britain is a kingdom, we share the same ruler but we have different governments and English people can't even vote in Scottish elections although the opposite is not true.

  • But that doesn't make Scotland an independent country. New Yorkers can't vote in New Jersey state elections, but that doesn't make them separate countries.

Anyway, all I was saying is that as Britain/British refers to the whole island, the English, the Welsh, and the Scottish are all "British."

  • I understand what you're saying:)

but Scotland IS an independant country at the end of the day, and Hugh Laurie's accent is an English one; so all i'm saying is many people prefer to be reffered to as citezens of their country rather than their union - maybe it's a patriotic thing i don't know but it's polite and respectful =D

  • I get the patriotism, really I do (and please know that I don't mean "nation" when I say that they're the same country). Ah! Long conversation for youtube...I think my original point was that a lot of Americans are overwhelmed when it comes to European accents in general, and we wouldn't want to offend anyone by identifying him with the wrong region (I've no idea what a Welsh accent sounds like), so we err on the side of general. We're actually doing it to AVOID being disrespectful.

  • In which case I respect your reasoning:)

get travelling though! ;) you'll notice the huge difference between the British accents and it will probably clear alot of cultural discussion up - I would love to hear all dialects of English and i plan on discovering many of them as soon as I finish college

  • LOL scotland is NOT an independent country, it is a devolved assembly under complete executive authority of Westminster. If it was an actual COUNTRY it would have a seat at the UN, be a seperate member of the EU, have it's own postal system etc. Oh, and there would also be no need for the screeching fanatics of the Scottish National Party. There are 7 defining characteristics of a 'country', and scotland has only 2 of them.

  • Scotland is not an Independent country, but it is a country, just like England, Ireland and Wales. Each are part of a kingdom and are under the same rule, with there own goverments(four countries under one rule). The United Kingdom has a seat on the UN and represents all four countries. If you look it up you will find that Scotland is a country.

  • LOL I don't need to 'look it up' you halfwit, as I know precisely what I am talking about, and you don't. You said it yourself 'Scotland is not an Independent country' - IF ITS NOT INDEPENDENT, IT'S NOT A COUNTRY. That is the DEFINITION OF A COUNTRY.

I hate to spoil some peoples romantic fantasies, but England / Scotland/ Wales / N.Ireland ARE NOT COUNTRIES. The only countries in the British Isles are Eire and the UK. (cont...)

  • If you are a country then you have a seat at the United Nations, you have ambassadors and embassies, you have an army, your own passports and most importantly your own citizenship. Anyone who thinks they are from the 'country' of england/scotland/wales, I suggest you look at your passport and see what it says under nationality. It says BRITISH, correct? Because THATS YOUR COUNTRY.

  • You realy dont know what your talking about. The UK is a collection of countries under one crown. Scotland has its own parliament, legal system, it's own educational system, it's own language and English dialects. It has it's own anthem, first minister, traditions and customs. It even has it's own banknotes. Your just to ignorant to admit it. I bet you that belive that scotland is not a country and England is. Fool.

  • LOL! Hmm, I state nothing but FACTS (you know, things that are true, that you can look up). I really just need to re-read what I wrote, but you clearly ignored it, so instead I will just rip apart this bullshit you just posted, as follows: The Scottish parliament is a DEVOLVED parliament - this means it gets all it's powers from Westminster (the British Parliament) - London has the right, IN ALL CASES, to overrule ANY decision made by the scottish parliament. It therefore has no true power. Ok?

  • 'Scotland has its own parliament, legal system, it's own educational system, it's own language and English dialects. It has it's own anthem, first minister, traditions and customs. It even has it's own banknotes. ' - so do the Isle of Man, and Jersey, are THEY countries too? ( Hint: THEY AREN'T).

And as for scottish banknotes, they are not actually legal tender, the only legal tender anywhere in the UK is ENGLISH money and coins, issued by the bank of england (as that's the UK national bank)

  • Oh, and in case you'r ewondering why you aren't aware of any of these facts, it's because you're a dozy fuckwit who doesn't feel the need to actually KNOW anything. Basically you read what's on the internet, or what you hear down the pub (if you're old enough to go in a pub), and assume it's fact. As I have said, scotland hasn't been a country since 1707, and neither has england. that's the legal fact of the matter, what you 'feel' doesn't really count.

  • There are eight internationally accepted criteria as to what defines a country, and a 'nation' need only fail on one of the eight criteria to not meet the definition of country status. Scotland does not meet all eight criteria, in fact it fails on six of the eight criteria; England only has one of the eight criteria. The UK, of course, has all eight. BECAUSE IT'S A COUNTRY. Try READING WHAT I SAID. If you can't declare war then you aren't a fucking country, OK? Political science wins, cuntflap.

  • And they say the Union brought an end to all the terrible infighting...

  • Who says that? Please give me a reference for that quote.

  • Sure can, as soon as you provide references for all your claims, plus rephrasing it so's you don't sound like such a chip-shouldered, bitter, angry person. Don't worry if it's too hard; I don't actually care.

  • i come from wales, plenty of people speak with an 'english' accent, because people move from england to bordering coutries, this isnt the case for me, i was born in wales, so technically i am welsh, but also have english parents, so im british, and i dont sound 'welsh', so i think its perfectly legitimate to call it a british accent, because its not exclusively in england, as people in wales n scotland also talk like that, so i guess he was just suming all accents up as british, fine if u ask me

  • if an english person moves into wales then they're still english, hugh laurie is originally from england therefore it's an 'english accent', maybe it's just over the top english pride but because you have english parents doesn't mean your british, if you had welsh parents then you'd still be british britain includes wales and scotland but due to the vast differences in the accent's i think it's more fair to individualise the different countries.

  • erm not quite true if you're welsh and u have english parents u still are a brit. i gotta mate of mine who has irish parents(northern irish that is) and yet he was born and raised in arsenal so again he's a brit like any other brit. the UK is a union of scotland, nth ireland, wales and england there's no point in trying to idividualise each of the isles as we are a nation.

  • I'd just like to point out, I know many born-and-bred Welsh people who have what would normally be called an 'English' accent, and no trace of the Welsh accent. The 'Welsh' accent tends to be south-Welsh, in fact, and you often find that in the north of Wales, where Cymraeg is spoken far more, that English itself is spoken with a very 'English' accent.

  • how the fuck is the english accent closer to the american accent they're both different

  • Amanda Holden is so beautiful!!!!!

  • Ugh. >_>

  • PLEEEEEEEEASE SAY ENGLISH!

  • He just said it was hard to do an American accent thats not very condecending like if i said it was hard to do a Korean accent

  • holy accent!

  • bizarre after watching House for so long to hear his english accent again =D!!

    x

  • she is not cheap ! i love her, shes the cutest person. shes very good. i love her. how cute is she when shes like i won't take it personally

  • lmao at 1.16... looks like hes bowing to amanda! lol hilarious (:

love hugh laurie, hes so good at the american accent... a bit like the actor from that eli stone programme. they do us proud (a bit too proud though :/ by the looks of the comments on here)

  • Loved it! And in the end he just looks so adorable ^^

  • how can u honestly say amanda holden is cheap!!!!!!!!! shes done so many things t get were she is now!! atleast she dont try t be someone she aint!! kirsty....

  • So bloody charming ... ^^

  • "The young actress" - You mean the gorgeous Amanda Holden?

  • no the cheap tart Amanda Holden

  • haha totally agree, she ALWAYS has to make a show of herself, draw attention to herself even when it's someone elses moment!

  • Wait till you hear his audiobook read of Professor von Igelfeld. His German impersonations are in the next dimension.

  • 100% entertainment.

  • Hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggg

  • 0:04 he looks like "Get me outta here!" lol

  • No offence to any americans who oppose what i am about to say but the utter ignorance of some americans who are totaly oblivious to the fact that Hugh Laurie is english astonishes me. I suppose that could be down to Hugh's remarkable talent with accents. Even so, Americans should be aware of his english greatness. =) Spread the word Americans!

  • Well most Americans hadn't heard of him until House, leading them to believe that he was indeed, American. That is of course a HUGE compliment to Hugh Laurie and his fantastic acting skills. It is hard for us Americans who are so completely isolated from culture and media in other countries to know what is actually going on without a bit of research.

  • I understand what your saying about American's not knowing about others culture's because, American's are constantly in the media over here, where as , if I was to watch an american chat show when the guest was british, the host talks a great deal about the guest being british which is unique to USA.

  • Yeah, it's really horrible not being as involved, we miss out on a lot, like Mr. Laurie and The Office. The British version is FAR better than the American version.

  • I totaly agree, I watched the American version of the office and i must say, i do prefer the english. Although, I do like some american comedy's... like Two and a half men... thats brilliant.

  • The American version of The Office is painfully awful.

Hugh is charming as always here. That woman next to him seems to have no idea what he is talking about.

  • Thats Amanda Holden, she's an utter arse anyway.

  • I think that's a general sentiment of many British people; I believe they think Americans a bit silly at best, and a bit stupid at worst.

But on the other hand, David Letterman could have handled the interview better--particularly the bit about Hugh Laurie's father, since you can tell that Hugh really loved and respected his father.

  • Remember, I only it's said what many people think; I personally dislike generalizations, because there are exceptions to almost every 'rule'.

And I'm pretty sure stupidity and silliness transcends nationality, gender, and race. It's a human thing.

  • 'Bite the hand that feeds him'??

Hugh had HUGE success in the UK before going over to America.

  • I think you're missing the point of English humour, rarely anything we say is not facetious. That's probably one of the reasons some people roll their eyes at Americans, they don't always get the English sarcasm.

  • at the end of the Hugh Laurie is a comedian so don't take to hart its a very every english thing to do we look at the world that way ps get the comedy series a bit of fry and laurie the full box set its so good you wont regret it

  • hugh laurie isnt egocentric, he doesn't think hes the best actor or anything. and if youve seen/read any other of his interviews he says how the americans arent bad how everyone thinks they are and he likes america. maybe you should base your insults on more then one interview.

  • the last comment was to ultrakool.

  • Hugh's intelligent and has a huge sense of humour. and balances the two quite well, too.

  • In a recent interview he was slagging off the British saying they would not give him any acting work.

Freedom of speech me old mate.

He was right, Amanda Holden is cheap.

  • Hugh Laurie is mainly known for sitcoms here.

  • Hugh Laurie is on the same path as Peter Sellers and Dudley Moore. All 3 were very talented, well known and much admired in Britain long before they were "discovered" in the USA. Unfortunately, both Sellers & Moore took up residence in the USA & died before their time. Coincidence maybe. I hope Hugh does not become another victim of his own success.

  • House did not "make" Hugh Laurie a star - he's been one for years and years in fab TV series such as Bit of Fry and Laurie, Blackadder, Fortysomething, Jeeves and Wooster plus countless movies - Sense and Sensibility, Maybe Baby, Peter's Friends. There is so, so much more to Hugh than just House.

  • It's funny looking back, he's so much cooler now. Damn. America made him cool. You guys win.

  • Who is that girl next to Laurie?

  • That's Amanda Holden. She's also one of the judges (along with Simon Cowell) from the Britan's Got Talent show.

  • Thx!

  • I reckon Hugh looks much better clean-shaven. :)

  • well..I definitely agree..I know that he is not young not a model..but he is so sexy and his adorable accent...love him

  • i think hugh is so sexy in a way. anyone else agree? like some people may think Oh My God he is so ugly why do you like him BLAH BLAH BLAH

    but he is adorable/sexy/rugged

  • haha the people who say hes ugly r way wrong. he's extremely good looking.

  • i have never heard that! he is adorable and sexy! two words that normally don't go together but he has managed it!

  • House is American btw check out vides on Youtube he does a great job putting on an American accent

  • im in the US and all i can see this guy is is House

haha its funny seeing him here even though i always knew he was British =)

  • why does youtube not let me thumb you down further? you're all greyed out. sucks.

  • Actress??!!!

  • Is that Amanda from Britain's Got Talent?

  • Yup that's her.

  • thats house? wow

  • No, that's Hugh Laurie I think you'll find ^^

  • She probably meant the guy who plays house. he certainly looks a little different now.

  • Oh of course, I'm aware of that. It's just I get a bit annoyed when people refer to him as just "House" when he's played parts in several other TV series that are equally, if not even more impressive than House M.D.

  • Well that makes sense. I guess House is just a way for people who didnt know him, to get to know him. I didnt know who he was either until after House. When I watched his other works and saw how much variety he has as an actor, I really started to appreciate him as a thespian.

  • Hardly...

  • First impression of errlloyd (above), twat.

  • I think my comment was posted in the wrong place, doesn't make sense to me now.

  • That was really funny!

    Love ya stuff Hugh.

  • This is so adorable I love it.

  • Always enjoy seeing and hearing Hugh Laurie.

  • Strange to hear him speak British :) Love it, though.

  • I'm sorry MissMiriam, but it really annoys me when people say "Speak British" because britian has thousands of accents. English would have been a bit better ;-)

Hugh Laurie = National Treasure! Great clip, thanks for uploading

  • Can you upload the whole show please?

  • I enjoyed this clip and wish there were more Laurie on Parkinson clips available.

  • oopsie 'foot in mouth' moment', hehe Amandas really lovely, and such a great actress

  • wow she's aaaaalwaaays on this show!!!

  • why is amanda holden always on Parky?
