Great comment made by Joe when Pres Nxon said Texas and not PSU should be No 1 in 1969 (both were undefeated and won Bowl games)--I cant understand how he knew so much about college football, but so little about Watergate. RIP, Joe. You were larger than life and your legend will live on. Cant believe you are gone
Mike McQueary has testified multiple times, under oath, that he did not offer detail to Joe Paterno regarding what he saw in the shower that night. Joe Paterno's testimony to the grand jury, also under oath was consistent with what Mcqueary said.
The problems came up with Joe's superiors who were told the details. They concluded that nothing inappropriate occurred, confirmed in written correspondence to Second Mile. Joe had no idea what Mcqueary actually saw so if his superiors told him their
The Board that fired him wants to honor him. I would redo this and substitute the PSU Board regarding their wanting to honor him. The facts hadn't come out yet and they were just looking for an excuse to fire him and they had done for several years. They couldn't wait.
Joe Paterno will leave behind a legacy of bathing in his own poop droppings. He loved to dump urine on his naked body and secretly collect adult diapers.
Don't speak. You don't know anything about our school or what we do. Last year alone we raised 9.5 million dollars for pediatric cancer research. What have you done lately?
Did Paterno and undefeated Penn State complain much about undefeated Ohio State taking the title in 1968? Or was it commonly accepted that the Buckeyes played a tougher schedule? There was plenty of controversy in 1969 when Texas got the championship instead of the also undefeated Lions, but rarely do I here any dispute about Ohio State taking it the year before.
Football was more important to these people than protecting innocent children from a sexual predator. The Ped State football program should be discontinued.
@ndfaithful Do you actually follow the news? Did the students commit the act of crime? NO.. Did the university commit the act? No.. did the players commit these acts of sexual misconduct.. nope I don't believe so. It was one man, a FORMER coach, who committed these sexual acts. But you wouldn't understand, because you're a typical troll. I could tell by the name, domer. I could understand punishing sandusky.. but to punish innocent people is another. I don't believe in your "touchdown" jesus.
@robr2004 your not innocent once you have knowledge. Just like the Catholic Church. they didn't commit the assaults, but many higher ups knew, and just like Paterno, they told their "trusted" bosses. By the way, Paterno had no boss had Penn State.
@ndfaithful You are such a moron! Football had nothing to do with this and neither did the players. People like you have already brought down the program by making recruits think PSU is not worthy of them. So. just shut up and learn the facts!
More according to Triponey: "The coach was literally telling his players that they couldn't cooperate with judicial affairs or they would get kicked off the team. So we were going nowhere in getting to the bottom of things," Triponey said. "I said to the coach, 'This would be so much easier if you would tell your players just to tell the truth.' He was livid, and the message to me was, 'I can't do that. They have to play for me and I can't ask them to rat on each other."
The charges in spite of numerous eye witnesses were either dismissed outright or reduced to minor hand slaps. Trying to punish the same players Triponey as chief school disciplinary encorcement officer was told by Paterno to noy interfer, he, would handle it. This is what happens when a school goes crazy over its sports program, makes 50 million a year from it and nothing else seems to matter. In coming months, watch the heads roll. The whole school board of trustees should be fired.
University president Graham Spanier told her, "You can't expect to change the culture" and that in "40 years he never saw anybody stand up to Joe Paterno and "Vicky, you're one of the handful of people who have seen the darker side of Joe Paterno".
So far was Joe Paterno's reach, in April 2007, two dozen of his football players forced their way into a party at an apartment and assaulted several students some severely beaten. Six players faced criminal charges as a result of the brawl.
You're still grasping at straws trying to save Joe Paterno's wrinkled up old ass. The person I made reference do was Vicky Triponey, a vice president in charge of student affairs, who had oversight of the Office of Judicial Affairs, university's disciplinary arm who duties included punishing student that violated school rules and ethics. According to her, Paterno had so much power and influence she was stopped time after time if any wrong doing involved Paterno's football players or coaches.
If anyone doubts Joe Paterno's TRUE character, just watch him act out in this ego stroking exercise in this video. One thing in life matters to Joe Paterno. HIMSELF and his legacy. No account pricks like Joe will stoop to anything to save themselves and that is what happened. If this "great" coach was such a tower of morals who let somebody he himself described as "doing some sexual stuff with a boy" stay for a minute after he knew? Would you? Come on, stop worshiping this phony!
History is full of assholes like Paterno who over time think their own shit don't stink. Paterno thought he ruled Penn State and could do whatever he wanted with "his" football program and players and obviously that extended to his coaching staff. So what Paterno did was run interference for Sanducksy, his long time friend and asstiant coach. To do less, would have tarnished Paterno's own image, so like all scumbags JoPa tried to sweep the scandal under the rug. It didn't work.
It's a shame this pedophile harborer will not be joining Mr. Sandusky in a prison cell, but nice to see he had the 'courage' to tell someone to shove it. What a shame his conscience didn't feel the same way for the boy raped in his showers.
Penn State... Sate Penn, were helpless innocent kids get sanduskieeeted while Mcqueer watches while Paterno encourages pedophile ring while stupid students cheer for it !! WE ARE STATE PENN!!! Thank yuu Joee!!! wwooo hooo
So he's got balls enough to tell 'The White House' to shove it, but couldn't tell Sandusky the same thing? Hmmm. What does this really say about his character?
@mikoarts Wouldnt it be a bad idea to tell Sandusky to shove it? Jokes aside, I think we're going to find Joe (and I loathe Penn State, by the way) had no clue because I couldnt see this man not decimating a pedophile. He seems like he would, even at 80, crack skulls for shit like that.
@mikoarts what character? Obviously Paterno's "character" is as overblown as his supposed "great" football coaching career. This really isn't a legal issue for Paterno, not yet anyway, but clearly a moral one. Deliberately doing nothing knowing full well one of your staff is suspected of one of the most disgusting crimes in society so you in effect become an enabler is pretty sick. Whatever good Paterno did in the past is offset by his gross lack of good judgement over this.
wtf happened? how did he go from a god like sweet old man to the worlds biggest piece of shit. This guy has to be the biggest let down in history. I thought this guy exemplified what it was to be a GOOD person. but the most powerful man at penn state, possibly in the entire state, did all he could to prevent habitual child rape??? I want to beat the shit out of this old man until he breathes no more.
I know someone who is an absolute RINGER appearance-wise for Joe, and gripes, complains about everything and everybody, gossips, slanders without discrimination, rags on her(yes, I said HER)bowling partners and opponents, nothing is ever good enough to suit her, etc. And....she's Italian. BUT, I understand, that like Joe, she represents the NEGATIVE side of the Italian experience, so I just see her as a clown...she'll never have a clue.
I read in JoePa's autobiography that in 1969 they had a chance to play Texas in the Cotton Bowl but passed because the They had enjoyed the accommodations of the Orange Bowl which they had played in 1968. The decision was made before the Michigan upset of No.1 Ohio State, but still his indignation of the matter is unwarranted
You Americans are so incredibly fucked up. I strongly believe that over the past 400 years, the American gene pool has been contaminated by Red Indian gene, Negro gene, Asian gene,Mexican gene, etc., etc. As a result, a "white" American isn't really white. He/she is a hybrid of all the races I've just mentioned.God did not want a hybrid race. A hybrid race is an aberration and its members are not pure human beings. Impure human beings do impure things.Only white North Europeans are truly white.
You, the coaching staff, and the administrators who have NO MORAL RESPONSIBILITY!!! You kept silent to protect the football program??? While children were being brutalized for years???? What a horrible disgrace!!!
You were NOTHING that you pretended to be. You're just a bunch of COWARDS!!! You are Penn State.
one man does not define a university. and no one knows the whole story so until everything comes out no one should be saying anything other than sandusky deserves all that hes about to get because people like him are the scum of the world and that the victims are in everyones thoughts and prayers
"Joseph V Paterno testified that the graduate assistant was very upset. Paterno called Tim Curely, PSU Athletic Director, to his home the very next day, and reported to him that the graduate assistant had seen Jerry Sandusky in the showers fondling or doing something of a SEXUAL NATURE to a young boy"
If that had been Paterno's naked grandson he would have called the POLICE.
Joe Paterno will forever be remembered for turning his back on child sex abuse!
Few things are more admirable than a good coach, who is guided by positive moral sense, combined with being responsible for a team's victories, because it's one of the most difficult accomplishments possible. It's good to keep in mind that such people are not community LEADERS, they're just good SPORTS coaches. I'll add that a good shepherd keeps his hands off of the sheep.
When people reach a plateau, they need to move on to more challenging things. There was a judge in Oklahoma a few years ago, who was discovered to be masturbating(with a machine that made noise, unfortunately)under his bench while a trial was in progress. There's a time to be effective and relevant, and there's a time to move on to more challenging situations.
If I can offer this...we're not talking about infractions against Penn State policy and reputational loss-of-face here, we're talking about God-forbidden acts against people too young to know what's being done to them, and violations of state law. Mr. Paterno and his cohorts in this situation should consider themselves EXTREMELY lucky that most Americans really do believe in God, and that is only ONE reason he still lives where he lives.
You really just threatened an 82 year old man over the internet? A man who most likely has had a far greater positive impact on more men than you ever will, regardless of his horrendous failings to the the whatever number of children Sandusky attacked after the 2002 incident.
@MrJahka Apparently he's made a great impact on young boys as well. He knew for over 12/13 years what was going on to those children. Joe Paterno if he was anyone one else whould have already been charged as an accomplice. He knew full damn well what Jerry was doing. Anyone who stands up for that man is an enabler of child molestors, just like he is. It's pathetic all the sad fucks that accually look up to people like him. Disgusting people with no lives.
@AllUnderOdinsBanner Please cite the source you read claiming Paterno knew exactly that there was raping of multiple children on multiple occasions. From all accounts I read, Paterno was told Sandusky was "fondling or doing something of a sexual nature" with a child. He then took those accusations and trusted the people who were responsible for and had the authority to properly handle these claims. Don't take what is known now and apply it to the actions made then based on less information
@MrPhatSmurf Lets see number 1, the fucking campus police reports from 2002, just to start, there is alot more, but I don't have the time to cover it all. "fondling or doing something of a sexual nature" that right there says he knew, Paterno only got fired to cover other involved peoples asses. Just like the Franklin cover up/scandal, these pedo fucks always cover for each other. "Rumor" has it rich doners were payin Sandusky to traffic little boys. Just like *THE FRANKLIN COVER UP* youtube it
@AllUnderOdinsBanner what I'm saying is what you read in graphic detail in the grand jury report is not what Paterno knew at the time. From the information he was given, there was no reason whatsoever for him to grab his torch and pitchfork against his long-time friend. It's not uncommon for men of his generation to shower together in an athletic sense. I know multiple adult men who said they used to be in showers at a gym when they were young and say nude adult men would be there too. I'm not
@AllUnderOdinsBanner (read 2nd) saying I justify the actions of Sandusky, but I can see how Paterno may have had a thought of "ok, what is really going on here? do I ruin the storied career of my good friend on this one claim from a emotionally upset man which may turn out to be nothing serious, or do i let the people responsible for this sort of thing take care of it?". he went with the second, and those men seemed to have covered things up. Paterno's involvement? I truly believe it was minimal
@MrPhatSmurf Nice try to clean things up, but you failed. The FACT is we don't know what Paterno was told. We DO know what McQueary said in sworn statements to the grand jury and that they found him creditable. Even accepting Paterno was just told "something of a sexual nature" was going on in HIS football facilities where Paterno was the big banana and Sanducky was his #2 coach and his long time pal and Paterno did nothing to prevent further instances speaks volumes about Paterno.
@willieofroanoke but...he did do something to prevent further instances. He told the athletic director who met with the eyewitness and the head of university police. They told paterno their investigations led to them taking away Sandusky's keys to the facilities and his charity was informed. In his shoes, would you think something wrong was done by these men after they followed up on the accusation? Why else would Paterno have any reason to do any more? How could he do any more in that position?
@MrPhatSmurf Yeah telling the athletic director and the VP of finance who's actually the head of campus police sure did volumes didn't it. Was Sandusky banned from campus or from using Penn State facalies? Hell no, just the opposite. He was still roaming around free as a bird all over Penn State grounds to molest more boys for years after. Geez you Paterno supporters need to open your eyes. Parterno was the guy that told high ranking school adms. to fuck off and don't mess with him
@willieofroanoke Can you send me links to your claims that Paterno told the admin to "fuck off" in re: Sanduskey? I don't know much what's going on with the investagation but I believe everyone's innocent until proven guilty. A family member works for the Pennsylvania AG and is associated w/ the investigation. It seems you know more than the investigators. This reminds me of the Duke Lacrosse team, they were found guilty by the press and haters before the trial.
@lonedove1981 Actually all you got to do is scroll back 60 or so clicks in this thread and find the damaging emails one of the school adms got when Paterno tried to bully her into not punishing 8 of Paterno's football players for violating school ethics code and the more serious felony charges for breaking into some student's dorm room and beating him to a pulp because he had some things to say the coach didn't like. Paterno is a classic bully with influence, the worst kind.
The sad reality is Paterno didn't give a shit kids were likely being sexually abused on the Penn state campus and elsewhere Sandusky brought kids to fool around with. Hell no. To simple minded buffoons like Paterno and his equally stupid low intelligence supporters all that mattered was football and Paterno's legacy. Better buy a 55 gallon drum of tarish remover for that 9 foot tall bronze status of Paterno still standing. Just try to get the stench off.
@Rao665 PART 1. rent-a-cops? I'm not sure what facts you are going off on that one, but I am positive you didn't actually look into the PSU police if you think that. From their website: "The University Police is governed by a state statute that gives our officers the same authority as municipal police officers.". Part of that statue allows them "to prevent crime, investigate criminal acts, apprehend, arrest, and charge criminal offenders
@MrPhatSmurf PART ! "The University Police is governed by a state statute that gives our officers the same authority as municipal police officers" within school grounds. Rent a cops. and as for municple police, many municipalities have SWAT teams. That doesn't mean they are well trained. and if your so adamant about defending your rent a cops. Why where OUTSIDE police forces used in VA Tech then? Rent A Cops. Their purpose is school grounds.
@Rao665 PART 1 really? you think a force that is sanctioned as having a SWAT team is also a rent-a-cop force? if i'm not mistaken, a rent-a-cop force would be one that is trusted with tazers at max, so they can take care of minor criminal offenses, until the real police can take care of the incident. PSU police are not trusted with taxers. They are armed officers, much like I am sure the police in your community are given to protect you. No SWAT team is half-assed trained.Outside police were
@Rao665 PART 3. other universities. Penn State, the university was given its own postal code by FDR's cousin, i believe (wikipedia's down) much like a town would be given - unlike most universities, has a much stronger police force than a lot of local small-town Pennsylvania towns would. Personally, I've spoken with PSU police offers and know the extent of their authority, and trust me, it is just as enforceable as you would find in any given community, if not, stronger.
@MrPhatSmurf PART 2 (Yes, i used parts, because youtube restricts the character limit and i want you to be able to understand what i am saying in correct order). were used in the VA tech incident because it was a major incident that required multiple forces. During the PSU riots, there was both a PSU riot squad team and a state college riot squad team working together. Agencies tend to work together when needed. Additionally, the PSU police are an exceptionally stinger police force compared to
@Rao665 PART 2. and issue summary citations for acts committed on the grounds and in the buildings of the college or university and carry the offender before the proper alderman, justice of the peace, magistrate or bail commissioner and prefer charges against him under the laws of this commonwealth"
@Rao665 PART 3. While they do have student volunteer auxiliary officers that take care of things like alcohol in the dorms, they also have 46 full-time armed officers, a canine squad, and even a SWAT team. They are by no means "rent-a-cops".
@MrPhatSmurf But yes Pennsylvania does have a SWAT team. IT's called the Pennsylvania State Police SWAT team. As far as rent-a-cops at Penn State UNIVERSITY, who cares.
@MrPhatSmurf ALSO the reason Joe Paterno told Nixon to shove it is because NIXON had broken the tie by picking Texas as the winner,....no game..hence the reponse from Joe.
@puelemueix yup, i know that. which is why i love him. he was so humble, gracious, and selfless, yet he had some a fiery attitude about him that made him such an amazing character
There are a couple of words that have fallen out of popular use in much of America; "disgrace", and "repentance". We've become, as a nation, morally hopeless. We try to justify anything and everything, and to protect ourselves from consequences with our "reputations" and our families. We're like a psychotic mob.
Joe Paterno reported this to his supervisor. I bet if his supervisor reported the incident to the police, as he should have, Joe wouldn't be in this mess. Joe Paterno is a coach not a private investigator. Joe Paterno wasn't fired for wrong doing, but by his association with Sandusky. He is the face of Penn State after all. Regardless of how much you troll, Joe's Legacy will continue.
@extraordinarysteve : Good comment. The thing is, to the best of my knowledge, pedophiliac assault is a very serious crime. Let's put ourselves in Joe's shoes for a bit, shall we? He was like a god in his environment, and he didn't put serious attention on his domain. Personally, I have yet to meet a coach or athletic director who has a healthy mind and stable outlook on life. Honestly. It seems to be some kind of secret job qualification--being a nut, that is.
@extraordinarysteve Joe paterno did not have the phone number of the police. oh my lord.. and Joe Paterno's "supervisor" Tim Curley could not fire him in 2004.. Shows how much of a supervisor or superior Curley was.. This was a calculated cover up to protect Sandusky and their own football program's image just like they did in 1998 too.
@naridon Mcqueary should've called the police because he witnessed the abuse. Mcqueary didn't disclose all of the information to Paterno. A supervisor may not be as powerful as the police, but obviously his supervisor is someone of higher authority. With what information Paterno had, I think he made the right choice.
@extraordinarysteve Why did Sandusky have an office and a phone in the complex still until last week. It's the AD fault he's in a mess. No. He is a grown man, and old man and he put himself into this mess.
@prrolg : The more violent and physical-contact oriented the sport, the more fraternally connected its hierarchy, and reluctance to condemn its officers. I believe this may hail back to Greek(Spartan)and Roman tradition. Unfortunately for the adherents to this concept, this is AMERICA--a brand-new idea in the world, in which sports is sport for the sake of itself, and not seriously indicative of any political leanings..
@prrolg Yeah and Mcqueary was grown also. The only difference between Mcqueary and Paterno is that Mcqueary actually witnessed the abused and didn't intervene. If anyone's integrity should be up for scrutiny its Mcqueary, the assistant coach that is still employed by Penn State. What kind of testimony would Paterno have considering that he didn't witness the abuse. As I would've done, he put the situation in the hands of the university. School Police have just as much jurisdiction as the state.
@extraordinarysteve The story on McQueary is changing as he said he DID intervene at the time. He said he stopped it from happening. More will come out in the investigation. Paterno broke no law. But Penna law from what I understand is weak in this area of crime. Joe knew about Sandusky in 1999. And he knew about the woman who came forward and had University police eves drop on a conversation between she and Sandusky when they were looking into charges of abuse. And of course McQueary went...
... to Joe on the child rape he witnessed in 2002. And I'm sure Joe saw Sandusky at games and around the football complex with a kid in tow for the last 9 years. Joe is an idiot for not taking care of his domain and getting the guy away from the football program. Paterno was in a bubble, thought he was immune. He's been out there too long. I'll tell you that if Penn State was in the middle of Phila Joe would have been gone in 1999. But out there in the sticks who knows what's going on?
@prrolg Also Mcqueary said he reported it to the police, but there was no record of it. Obviously he's changing the story for his own benefit. I just hate it when the good guy takes the hit for someone else wrong doing. Internationally us Americans are being view as stupid because of how easily our thoughts are manipulated. Forget what the media and sportscasters are saying about Joe Paterno, base your judgement on the facts presented to you.
@extraordinarysteve First, my opinion of people from other countries is that the average person is no smarter or dumber than the average American. This is true. Yesterday I learned that McQueary said he stopped the abuse he witnessed in the shower at Penn State football facility in 2002. The boy in that incident hasn't been named. And how did he stop it? Stuff is coming out every day so things will change day to day as the investigation goes on. Now abuse at Syracuse and the Boston...
...Red Sox. We'll see what happens. I still don't understand why Joe let Sandusky hang around his program. There are no excuses. My father told me when I was a kid that sports is all business and not to worship anyone in sports. I guess he didn't want me to be disappointed when I found out there were human beings behind those images. It's times like these when you find out how far they can fall that it's good to be prepared. Joe has to pay the piper. At 84 his life is almost over anyway.
I've had my say. That bastard was fired, rightly so, and I believe that the victims will have their justice, if not in a criminal court, then certainly in a civil court.
I feel sad for them and their suffering, but I hope that if something good can come out of this, is that people realize that there is more to life than football programs and legacies, that moral responsibility extends beyond legal requirements, and that protecting the most vulnerable in our society is what counts.
"Joseph V. Paterno testified that the graduate assistant was very upset. Paterno called Tim Curely, PSU Athletic Director, to his home the very next day, and reported to him that the graduate assistant had seen Jerry Sandusky in the showers fondling or doing something of a SEXUAL NATURE to a young boy."
If that had been Paterno's grandson naked in that shower he would have called the POLICE.
Joe Paterno will be remembered for turning his back on child sex abuse.
This clown Paterno is an embarassement to Penn State, to football and to the human race. Humble, quite, caring? Yeah sure, this pile of shit is just another over the hill "sports legden" an obvious egomaniac, obsessed with his "legacy" and how he'll be remembered. Well Joe, I think you know how you'll be remembered. The head coach that knew he had a pedophile as his second in command, let him run free on campus and swept it under the run and said lets play ball.
I would have told Sandusky, "You can pick up your final check in payroll, and please hurry before I lose control and do something really unpleasant to you." Paterno had the power to do that, and he did not.
@cunnidvd 11/11/11- "Molest We Forget" ... Pedophile State Forever .. Joe "Pah" ... enabler of 400+ Anal Reamings in Motel Penn State Football showers. ..
Joe "Pah" should be the spokesperson for N.A.M.B.L.A.
@cunnidvd : Yes, "humble and respectful man....ego not too big." He just told the president of his government, on national t.v., to "shove it." Food for thought.
For those of you who keep saying Joe did all he could, just remember this. I HOPE none of YOUR kids is ever raped and sodomized and somebody who knows does nothing. Bet you'd feel differently...Paterno is a morally bankrupt hypocrite. Karma is a mother Mr. Paterno and all the REST of the cowards and CHILD RAPIST Sandusky at PSU.
Ok Joe does not deserve to be fired or anything like that! He did what he should have done as an employee. Ya sure he could have done more but he did all he had to so why would they fire him? He actually did more than he really had to! He has devoted 99% of his time, money and LIFE to Penn State. He does not deserve to have his whole legacy ripped in pieces because of something someone told him!

@sraacv4398 Are you kidding me? You clearly don't have a full understanding of the WHOLE story. Paterno could have done so much more, but instead he lets these sex crimes go unreported. That's just sick.
@joseph19699 instead of making paterno a poster child for this shit, how about the director and dean and people he TOLD about the incident, then magically it disappeared? he's not the only one at fault fuck off
@hurley56476 HE ALREADY HIRE A LAWYER...WILL SEE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT..PRETTY SURE BUNCH OF GUYS ARE GOING TO BE IN TROUBLE....AT THE END HE IS GOING TO BE THE ONE GETTING IT SHOVE IN THE ASS TOO...GOOD LUCK PED STATE GAY UNIVERSITY

Common sense escapes you because you are an ignorant person who can not and will not think for themselves. After McQueary informed Paterno about what he witnessed in the shower between Sandusky and an unidentified 10 year old boy, Paterno had McQueary go to the athletic director and the finance director to report the incident. The finance director is also the head of the Penn State campus PD. They are a real police department and they handle all incidents on campus. Police were notified.
@PANClifter Wrong dumbass. The campus police is still tied to the university itself. There is an obvious conflict of interest there.
Common sense eludes you, because I honestly don't know how you can still sit there and pretend that the shitbag is innocent in all of this. HE KEPT THE KNOWLEDGE OF PEDOPHILIA TO HIMSELF ALONG WITH THE REST OF THOSE FUCKHEADS! I really don't know how you cannot get that through your thick skull. You are just as morally bankrupt as he is. You make me sick.
@ktherock7 I already defeated you! You can no longer make valid points or you just repeat the same ones after I come up with another valid point! I WIN! You LOSE!
Sadly...he becomes the old guy 4 houses down that has no clue anymore and lives life likeit was the late 50's and ward cleaver said honey I'm home...he may have done good deeds in his day but this episode crashes and burns all prior accomplishments...pope no more.....say it isn't so Joe..
Joe Paterno didn't rape anybody, and he was applauded by the Grand Jury for swiftly reporting the case to the AD in 2002. Get your facts straight, he's an innocent scapegoat.
Joe covered his own ass when he went to his superiors back in '02, but he should have gone directly to the cops when his superiors didn't do a damn thing about it. He didn't, and that's why he is NOT a victim in this mess. The kids that got molested are the ONLY victims here.
Paterno fanboys need to check their own skewed sense of morality before posting retarded comments here.
@ktherock7 Oh look another media dick-rider! I can use the same argument and fallacies you use against Paterno. If you really want to know why didnt someone do anything about it , why not Sandusky's wife? After all she was only MARRIED to the guy! And what about some of the parents that failed to do anything about it other than just saying to Sandusky "You're not allowed around my kid anymore" So if you want to throw around the moral cards and people who should have gone directly to the police
@PANClifter Your pathetic attempt at trying to shift focus from PedoPa's obvious guilt amuses me. Please, do go on. And while you're at it, you might want to remove your mouth from his dick. It's not safe to suck him and type at the same time. You could choke, and given PedoPa's track record with calling 911, I don't think you'd make it.
@ktherock7 you are another uneducated person drinking the kool aid of the mass media. You have already tried and convicted Paterno based on the opinions of the talking heads of TV. You have no facts so you start with name calling and other derogatory remarks. You seem to have quite an interest in male genital and performing oral sex on it. Get your head out of other mens shorts and start doing some reading on this subject then maybe you can have an intelligent conversation on this matter.
@PANClifter If I'm derogatory towards you, it's because you haven't demonstrated to me any reasons why I should be more "civil" towards your person. I confront you with the fact that PedoPa didn't do shit, didn't go to the cops, after his superiors covered things up, and all you do is try to shift blame to others who might (or might not) be involved. You keep holding on to the whole "he's an innocent scapegoat" rap while trying to place blame with Sandusky's wife, the kids parents...pathetic.
@ktherock7 "You keep holding on to the whole "he's an innocent scapegoat" rap while trying to place blame with Sandusky's wife, the kids parents...pathetic." You're doing the same thing about Joe. You shift blame on Joe, just because he did his job, and told McQueary to report what he saw. Joe cant say anything because he didnt witness anything! And if his superiors tell him that its taken care of, what is he suppose to say or do? Walk up to them everyday to make sure they are doing their jobs?
@PANClifter Is this video focusing on Joe or not? If the subject of the video was McQueary, this conversation would be about McQueary. You really need to stop being so stupid.
"Joe can't say anything becasue he didn't witness anything!"
He was explicitly told what happened in that locker room. I know that you as a fanboy just can't stand to accept that, but it's the truth. Knowing full well what was going on and keeping it himself for all those years...what a coward.

The Ped State football program should be discontinued.
ndfaithful 1 month ago
@ndfaithful Do you actually follow the news? Did the students commit the act of crime? NO.. Did the university commit the act? No.. did the players commit these acts of sexual misconduct.. nope I don't believe so. It was one man, a FORMER coach, who committed these sexual acts. But you wouldn't understand, because you're a typical troll. I could tell by the name, domer. I could understand punishing sandusky.. but to punish innocent people is another.

"Joseph V Paterno testified that the graduate assistant was very upset. Few things are more admirable than a good coach, who is guided by positive moral sense, combined with being responsible for a team's victories, because it's one of the most difficult accomplishments possible.

@AllUnderOdinsBanner what I'm saying is what you read in graphic detail in the grand jury report is not what Paterno knew at the time. @MrPhatSmurf Nice try to clean things up, but you failed. The FACT is we don't know what Paterno was told. Even accepting Paterno was just told "something of a sexual nature" was going on in HIS football facilities where Paterno was the big banana and Sanducky was his #2 coach and his long time pal and Paterno did nothing to prevent further instances speaks volumes about Paterno.
willieofroanoke 1 month ago
@willieofroanoke but...he did do something to prevent further instances. He told the athletic director who met with the eyewitness and the head of university police. They told paterno their investigations led to them taking away Sandusky's keys to the facilities and his charity was informed. In his shoes, would you think something wrong was done by these men after they followed up on the accusation? Why else would Paterno have any reason to do any more? How could he do any more in that position?
MrPhatSmurf 1 month ago
@MrPhatSmurf Yeah telling the athletic director and the VP of finance who's actually the head of campus police sure did volumes didn't it. Was Sandusky banned from campus or from using Penn State facalies? Hell no, just the opposite. Shows how much of a supervisor or superior Curley was.. This was a calculated cover up to protect Sandusky and their own football program's image just like they did in 1998 too.
ps: I study at penn state..
naridon 2 months ago
@naridon Mcqueary should've called the police because he witnessed the abuse. Mcqueary didn't disclose all of the information to Paterno. A supervisor may not be as powerful as the police, but obviously his supervisor is someone of higher authority. With what information Paterno had, I think he made the right choice.
extraordinarysteve 2 months ago
@extraordinarysteve Why did Sandusky have an office and a phone in the complex still until last week. It's the AD fault he's in a mess. No. He is a grown man, and old man and he put himself into this mess.
prrolg 2 months ago
@prrolg : The more violent and physical-contact oriented the sport, the more fraternally connected its hierarchy, and reluctance to condemn its officers. I believe this may hail back to Greek(Spartan)and Roman tradition. Unfortunately for the adherents to this concept, this is AMERICA--a brand-new idea in the world, in which sports is sport for the sake of itself, and not seriously indicative of any political leanings..
buzzclick500 2 months ago
@prrolg Yeah and Mcqueary was grown also. The only difference between Mcqueary and Paterno is that Mcqueary actually witnessed the abused and didn't intervene. If anyone's integrity should be up for scrutiny its Mcqueary, the assistant coach that is still employed by Penn State. What kind of testimony would Paterno have considering that he didn't witness the abuse. As I would've done, he put the situation in the hands of the university. School Police have just as much jurisdiction as the state.
extraordinarysteve 2 months ago
@extraordinarysteve The story on McQueary is changing as he said he DID intervene at the time. He said he stopped it from happening. More will come out in the investigation. Paterno broke no law. But Penna law from what I understand is weak in this area of crime. Joe knew about Sandusky in 1999. And he knew about the woman who came forward and had University police eves drop on a conversation between she and Sandusky when they were looking into charges of abuse. And of course McQueary went...
prrolg 2 months ago
... to Joe on the child rape he witnessed in 2002. But out there in the sticks who knows what's going on?
prrolg 2 months ago
@prrolg Clearly you were misinformed about the situation. Please refer to the grand jury indictment of Sandusky.
extraordinarysteve 2 months ago
@prrolg Also Mcqueary said he reported it to the police, but there was no record of it. Obviously he's changing the story for his own benefit. I just hate it when the good guy takes the hit for someone else wrong doing. Internationally us Americans are being view as stupid because of how easily our thoughts are manipulated. Forget what the media and sportscasters are saying about Joe Paterno, base your judgement on the facts presented to you.
extraordinarysteve 2 months ago
@extraordinarysteve First, my opinion of people from other countries is that the average person is no smarter or dumber than the average American. This is true. Yesterday I learned that McQueary said he stopped the abuse he witnessed in the shower at Penn State football facility in 2002. The boy in that incident hasn't been named. And how did he stop it? Stuff is coming out every day so things will change day to day as the investigation goes on. Now abuse at Syracuse and the Boston...
prrolg 2 months ago
At 84 his life is almost over anyway.
prrolg 2 months ago
...I read the grand jury report. What are you referring to that makes you say I'm misinformed about the situation?

I've had my say. That bastard was fired, rightly so, and I believe that the victims will have their justice, if not in a criminal court, then certainly in a civil court.
I feel sad for them and their suffering, but I hope that if something good can come out of this, is that people realize that there is more to life than football programs and legacies, that moral responsibility extends beyond legal requirements, and that protecting the most vulnerable in our society is what counts.

From the Grand Jury Report:

PANClifter 2 months ago
@PANClifter Wrong dumbass. The campus police is still tied to the university itself. There is an obvious conflict of interest there.
Common sense eludes you, because I honestly don't know how you can still sit there and pretend that the shitbag is innocent in all of this. HE KEPT THE KNOWLEDGE OF PEDOPHILIA TO HIMSELF ALONG WITH THE REST OF THOSE FUCKHEADS! I really don't know how you cannot get that through your thick skull. You are just as morally bankrupt as he is. You make me sick.

@AxNxIDxY Oh look, a Paterno fanboy dick-rider...
Joe covered his own ass when he went to his superiors back in '02, but he should have gone directly to the cops when his superiors didn't do a damn thing about it. He didn't, and that's why he is NOT a victim in this mess. The kids that got molested are the ONLY victims here.
Paterno fanboys need to check their own skewed sense of morality before posting retarded comments here.
ktherock7 2 months ago
@ktherock7 Oh look another media dick-rider! I can use the same argument and fallacies you use against Paterno. If you really want to know why didnt someone do anything about it , why not Sandusky's wife? After all she was only MARRIED to the guy! And what about some of the parents that failed to do anything about it other than just saying to Sandusky "You're not allowed around my kid anymore" So if you want to throw around the moral cards and people who should have gone directly to the police
PANClifter 2 months ago
@PANClifter So with that being said, those parents too allowed more kids to be abused as well by your own logic!
PANClifter 2 months ago
@PANClifter Your pathetic attempt at trying to shift focus from PedoPa's obvious guilt amuses me. Please, do go on. And while you're at it, you might want to remove your mouth from his dick. It's not safe to suck him and type at the same time. You could choke, and given PedoPa's track record with calling 911, I don't think you'd make it.
ktherock7 2 months ago
@ktherock7 you are another uneducated person drinking the kool aid of the mass media. You have already tried and convicted Paterno based on the opinions of the talking heads of TV. You have no facts so you start with name calling and other derogatory remarks. You seem to have quite an interest in male genital and performing oral sex on it. Get your head out of other mens shorts and start doing some reading on this subject then maybe you can have an intelligent conversation on this matter.
PANClifter 2 months ago
@PANClifter If I'm derogatory towards you, it's because you haven't demonstrated to me any reasons why I should be more "civil" towards your person. I confront you with the fact that PedoPa didn't do shit, didn't go to the cops, after his superiors covered things up, and all you do is try to shift blame to others who might (or might not) be involved. You keep holding on to the whole "he's an innocent scapegoat" rap while trying to place blame with Sandusky's wife, the kids parents...pathetic.
ktherock7 2 months ago
@ktherock7 "You keep holding on to the whole "he's an innocent scapegoat" rap while trying to place blame with Sandusky's wife, the kids parents...pathetic." You're doing the same thing about Joe. You shift blame on Joe, just because he did his job, and told McQueary to report what he saw. Joe cant say anything because he didnt witness anything! And if his superiors tell him that its taken care of, what is he suppose to say or do? Walk up to them everyday to make sure they are doing their jobs?
PANClifter 2 months ago
@PANClifter Is this video focusing on Joe or not? If the subject of the video was McQueary, this conversation would be about McQueary. You really need to stop being so stupid.
"Joe can't say anything becasue he didn't witness anything!"
He was explicitly told what happened in that locker room. I know that you as a fanboy just can't stand to accept that, but it's the truth. Knowing full well what was going on and keeping it himself for all those years...what a coward.
