Looks similar to the Kinect Fusion. I wonder how accurate those absolute values can be. I think a user needs to adjust the scale once the scene has been captured. Hard to believe you get something accurate straight from the application.
@LippyMacGregor -- The scale is accurate because the Kinect sensor captures absolute distance reasonably accurately. You can read how it works online. Kinect accuracy is around a millimeter close up and a few centimeters at longer scan distances (like 5m). We've played with Kinect Fusion - it's very good in some situations but not so good in others. It requires high-end desktop computing hardware to run; we're making something that's handheld and portable.
