  • FML....i should have bought a stampede vxl 4x4...not rustler(its still nice though)

  • that xl5 is fast as fuck!!!

  • nice rustler and stampede man your in good hands

  • Epic

  • are the tires on the stampede stock

  • did u have any heat problems with the mamba max? and was it a mamba max pro?

  • is the rustler or stampede better?

  • man the rusti is undrivable :D

i think 2s is enough for every bash car. and 3s for highspeed runs.

but great video. all your videos are awesome

  • How long run time you get? with your stampede. cause i have one too, and im trying to get more run time. Im useing the stock moter with the stock 7 cell 8.4 3000 mah, battry that came with it.

  • is the mamba better or the vxl

  • @101quadrider I have a vxl in my rusty and a mamba in my slash. the mamba esc is fully programmable (plug into your pc via usb port) for speed, braking, take-off power etc... The vxl has 3 programmable settings, 50% power for newbies, sport and race (no reverse). Theyre both super fast and reliable. I have wheelie bars on both.

  • w0ah wonderfoul place to drive on

  • with vxl it sais its waterproof so I would get it

  • which would you recomend the rustler vxl or the stampede vxl

  • bandit.. Much better than stampede and rustle r :)

  • yes you can ;)

  • @wildbanchee3 The parts are exchangeable on the rusty and Pede. You could buy a Pede and if u wanted to race it, buy the conversion kit for about $40 and turn it into a Rusty. My Pede is 7yrs old and still going strong-just changed bearings motor and a few broken parts over the years.

  • absolulty superb

    acojonante!!!

    mi favorito

  • What Should i get vxl system or mamba max system

  • i recomend the VXL cause you know it's gonna work

  • what does the number 5700 mean? im a noob.

  • 5700 the kv rating of the motor, the higher the kv rating the faster the motor spins.

multiply the kv rating by the number of volts the battery puts out and it will tell you the motor rpm.

ive seen anywhere from 3000 to 9000

  • i got a 10250kV motor ;)

  • @paultje162 can you run a 3s lipo with that motor?

  • @34kevin34 it the Kv rating. this means that the motor will do 5700 RPM per volt of the battery so theoretically on 3s lipo the motor should be spinning at 63270 RPM

  • I vote Rustler...FAST

I just got a Rustler xl5 off of craigslist for $75. I am thinking of putting a mamba 5700 and a 11.1v lipo....Then it can keep up (or pass) w/ my jato 3.3.

  • what gearing do you recomend me for the stampede with the sidewinder 5700 on a 7 cell 5000mah??????

  • vxl

  • whats better mamba or VXL?

  • top speed on the stampede w/ mamba???

    nice vid 5/5

  • Why is stampede better then rustler, doesn't it flip more?

  • and its slower, heavier. Rustler is better

  • It even did a wheelie going down the hill! Now thats power!

  • ohwait nvm i forgot that revo take different shocks but i dont think they will cause revo shocks r different

  • wich system would you recomend for my traxxas stampede xl5?

  • Castle Creations Mamba Max ESC/5700kV Motor Combo Cost 150 bucks

  • i'm pretty sure they can i fit them on my rustler

  • hello i got a question i have a savage x and im really tired of paying for gas so i would like brushless and im deciding on a stampedexvl or rustler vxl and i like to jump go fast and mess around can u help me choose

  • what is better a rustler vxl or stampede vxl i raelly dont care about speed?

  • Stampede VXL if you want to do wheelies.

  • are these stock wheels? almost looks like using paddles, can't wait until get my stampede

  • fricken sweet

  • what do you prefer? the stampede or the rustler?

  • beautiful blade nitro is indeed sucks costs only money and no good results

  • nice vid, and thanks for not having any gay music

  • i second that

  • On some parts of the video you can hear the sand in the tranny, but besides that good vid. i have a VXL rustler and VXL stampede and they were the best investment i have every made, plus the RPM arms and turn buckle and castors are even better.

  • I got a stampede VXL with a 3 cell 5000mah. Honestly all that wheelieing is not fun after the first 2 of them. Your car is just not going in any direction but looking to crash with the wheelie. I will try out a 2 cell lipo. I hope that is more fun and controllable.

  • put some lead in the front end...thats what i did, cuz i hate constant wheelies

  • awesome bash spot dude! what tyres and wheels were on the rustler?

  • They were stock XL-5 wheels & Alias tyres.

  • Is that a xl-5 rustler, because if it is i was wondering how well the trany is holding up?

  • Yup, XL-5 it is. Tranny had aluminium idler and later the insides were replaced with VXL diff & idler.

  • what gearing did that stampede have?

  • haha, thats what you say until you actually play with one

  • doesnt meen that if it's electric than its cheap, they are better than most gas rc's now

  • no balls no man.. seriously? dude a vxl rustler on 3s lipo will blow your fucking revo 3.3 with a tuned pipe into a MILLION pieces.. a rustler vxl gets to 70mph alot dam faster than a revo.. vxl will even smoke a jato

  • You keep tuning your nitro while I run circles around you without paying for expensive fuel. lol.

  • dear rob chappers why did you remove the comment you just posted saying...YOU JUST FOUND OUT STAMpEDE VXLS ARE NOT AVAILABLE IN THE UK...becuase you know what they are do more research before you talk that is why you deleted it you realized you fucked up

  • Comment removed

  • nice!! i heve a e-maxx i now how fun it is!!!

  • Dont get crazy about roll over or not roll over, all cars with high center of gravity is easier to roll over, dont care your skills. Stampede is a monster truck and as is it will roll over easier than a buggy or a truck. I like better the stampede, has more ground clearance, you can do bashing everywhere

  • nice face plat a 7:32 ...lol

  • Yeah stampede run over a lot but Its funny to drive, better ground clearance. By the way do you have problems stripping spur gears ? how many turns do you loosen the slipper in the vid ?

    Thanks

  • If I remember correctly, the slipper was loosened about 1/4 of turn from full tight.

  • Thanks a lot, I stripped a lot of spur gears. Traxxas recommend loosening 1/2 of turn at least but I loosened even 1 full turn and it doesnt help. I changed the entire transmission and Im buying new vxl motor, maybe the fail is in the old ezrun 9T motor. I will install vxl motor in the vxl esc that I have and It should works ok with good gear mesh, thats I hope. Thank you

  • i forgot 2 mention i prefer the stampede but is there a handling problem aka rolling over a lot

  • Yes, Stampede will roll over more easily, but it's ok when you learn to drive it. :)

    Get the one you want.

  • learn to drive it then it wont roll

  • wat do you prefer rustler vxl or stampede vxl cos im gunna get 1 or the other next week ? i cant decide and i really need the advice

  • k weird you say there is a handleing problem with the stampede yet you say your going to buy one next week....so you dont own one then you just see alot of kids that dont know what there doing on utoob whats the deal here man

  • i said id get 1 or the other i didnt say it had a handling problem i asked if it had 1 and everywhere i look people say they r sick of them rolling over

  • cuase there idiots learn to drive it properly it wont roll and its way better and funner than the rustler

  • i have a traxxas stampede xl-5 and a e-revo brushless.

  • no body cares

  • That's the problem of many of today's toys. :D

  • can you use a 5700 mamba max motor on the vxl esc???

  • I must say WOW..i can bearly wait for my FML-Stampede..never owned a traxxas model before, so it will be fun.

I realy like the place ya driving @, remindes me of my own "bash place" here in Swe...

ANy issiues with tranny or so? how about gearcover? havnt the stock VXL a little hole@the bottom? or is a RPM a good buy?

keep filming, il be doing one my self asap the car arrives..(next week i hope)

  • what kind of tires on the pede

  • They are the stock tires that come with the car.

  • which is better vxl or mamba?

  • Both. :)

Mamba Max ESC and Velineon 3500 motor to be exact.

  • k thanks

  • Holy Crap @ 5:49

  • that thing fuckin rips!!!!

  • get nitro

  • The day I'll be so old and slow that I can't handle brushless, then I'll turn to nitro vehicles.

  • Exactly! :)

  • what lipos do you use???

  • Currently I've been using Zippy lipos with diffenrent voltage & capacity.

They're actually quite good if you're not running a high amp set-up.

  • and the batterie please :D

  • it's a normal ruster whit good motor or rustler vxl? and how much ur set cost like

    motor

    gear:

... please tell me my ruster go to 20 mph its too slow for me..

  • It's Rustler XL-5 with Mamba Max 5700 combo (esc & motor). Can't remember how much I paid from it, bought it from local bidding site as second hand. This was about a year and a half ago.

The battery was 3200mAh 11.1v LiPo and gearing was 15/86.

New Mamba Max combos sell around $210USD in the States and they move Rustler with a decent lipo easily 70-90km/h (45-55mph).

  • Hi, hope you're well, i have a vxl on a extended chassis (FLM), I'm running 8 cells, but i can get the long 10cell(4300) in there as well..would the VXL ESC be able to handle this 12v?, thanks hope you can help..great Vid too..nice place to run..Cheers Abby

  • Don't know about 10 cells since the specs say 9 cells max.

  • I just got a Stampede with Novak 5800SS motor and Speed Control, if running the same batteries should my friend with a Rustler and a mamba 5700 set-up beat me or will we be damb close as I presume?? Yet to fight for the title!...Anyone with an opinion or knowledge, C'mon baby, tell me the Stampede will Crush the Rustler!

  • I'd put my money on the Rustler.

It'll prolly be close call, but Rustler takes the win with the advantage on weight and wind resistance.

Depends a lot from the gearing ofcourse. :)

  • hey. i have a nitro sport and looking for a vxl..is there much difference between mamba and vxl rustler i speed? or would it be just like the one in the video?

  • The speed really depends from the batteries and gearing used. You can get same speeds from both setups with same voltage and proper gearing.

  • The Mamba has a higher kv, but between the two what motor has more power?

  • I think the Mamba motor has more top speed but the Velineon has more torque and handles better with hig temps, better than the mamba. The best combo is a Mamma Max ESC and the Velineon motor, becaus the Mamba Max ESC you can put it higher voltage, using a BEC.I hop I'm not saying anything stupid, but that's what I think

  • The comparison isn't that simple. The V3500 is rated for maximum rpm of 50000 and it draws 65 amps of constant current.

This means that you can run it with 14,29 volts and you can get around 929 watts out from the motor.

  • Now I can't find any exact data from the CMS5700 motor, but if I remember correct, it's max rpm was 65000 and amp draw 80A.

You could run it with 11,40 volts (full 3S lipo is 12,6V btw) which would give you 912 watts of power.

The results are about the same, but for sure the V3500 will produce the same amount of power with less amps & rpm (=HEAT!!!).

This isn't a scientific comparison, just my thought and calculations. :)

  • Yes, had temp probs with Mamba motor - had to cool it down for a while.

    With Velineon temps were ok.

  • where is the place..

    good video show

  • Thanks! The video was filmed in Siilinjärvi, Finland.

  • thank finbilly

  • which kind of speed controll did you use, the velinion, of the mamba max one?

  • Velineon on Stampede & Mamba Max on Rustler.

  • Eh nice vid, what size bat you got in there? On my pede ive got a 7.2V 3600mAh NiMH flat 7 cell and a 8.4V 5000mAh NiMH and anaconda street tires and stock off road tires

  • It was a 7.4V 5000mAh LiPo by LRP.

  • Man, how do u like the anaconda tires? i migh order some, would it make my pede faser on the road?

  • Anacondas improve handling on pavement/asphalt, stiffer springs also help onroad driving.

You might need slightly bigger pinion because Anacondas are a bit smaller than the stock tires on Stampede.

  • they are good. But the problem i find is the glue wears off in some spots(all u gotta do is re glue em) and for them to work best they need to be warmed up. But other wise they good

  • Plus they wear quickly - atleast the ones that I had on my E-Jato were slicks after 6 packs... :D

  • mamba all the way in torch and speed

  • i have a vxl trans and jato shafts, i'm using it on a tube chassis 2.2 crawler, tlt-1 axles.

  • i mean this 9 cell nimh battery is packed full of PUNCH already!!! i was just curious if the lipos are still a lot more powerful?

  • Lipos can deliver a lot more amps, so there will still be more power in your hands with 3S 4000mAh LiPo than with your 9 cell NiMH (4000mAh LiPo generally gives 80A continuous, 4700NiMH around 30A).

Also lipos are a lot lighter, which is a gain in performance.

Is Stampede still driveable with that much power is the question to consider... :)

  • i have a stampede vxl currently running a maxamps 9 cell 10.8v 4700 mah battery pack and i was wondering if buying a lipo pack like the 4000HV 3s 11.1v pack would make much difference... in top speed and wheelies? what do u guys think?

  • that thing stays planted very well..

  • Don't get a receiver lipo, they usually can't feed the necessary amps for motor. Get a lipo pack with discharge rate atleast 20 times (20C) of it's capacity. And the capacity should be atleast 3500mAh, preferrably +4000mAh.

With 20C that gets you 80 amps of current to feed the Velineon.

Ofcourse, a decent lipo charger is also needed.

  • you'd go alot faster and be better off with an 8 cell nimh pack. my rustler vxl pushes 50mph+ with my crappy 8 cell pack

  • It's not out yet and I presume it can't handle the amps.

I suggest you get the Sidewinder, I ordered myself the Sidewinder 4600 combo for my E-Firestorm.

  • Those AI's have turn limit higher than VXL motor, which has 10-turns (according to Traxxas).

Tazers seem to be brushed controllers, so no go.

  • Castle Creations' Sidewinder is 76.99$ at Tower Hobbies. That's about the cheapest you can get.

Mamba Max is another good choice.

  • I doubt that. It has 25A continuous current limit and Velineon 3500 draws 65 amps continuous, 100 amps max.

Might give you a nice smoke show... :(

  • No. Brushless motor needs a brushless controller.

  • Upgrades excluding the motor & ESC cost 60-70$. Parts can be found from liquidrc com or towerhobbies com

Parts can be changed in about 1,5 hours, depending from your experience level with your car.

If you are on tight budget or don't want aluminium parts, then just get the gearbox internals (Traxxas parts 3696 & 2381X) for under 10$, RPM bearing carriers (RPM #80382 & 80372) for 18$ and 8pcs of 5x11mm bearings (4x Traxxas #5116) for 14$.

    That totals around 40$.

  • Only the XL-5 gearbox was strenghtened and big bearing (5x11) axle carriers were installed.

  • nice!! 5 stars

  • Thanks!

  • What is the gearing of both trucks here?

  • The VXL had stock gearing (can't remember what it was) and Rustler was geared 15/86, if remember correct.

  • I bought pede body mounts and a body for my rustler vxl along with some talons, true stadium truck style.

  • nice vxl good choice

  • The sand doesn't hurt the trucks?

  • Nah - I just clean them afterwards with compressed air.

  • it shouldn't it might get to the motor but nothing else!

  • i love the rustler and the video is just beautifull :) keep it on.

  • Not quite - with 2.2 tires it went 45mph, measured with GPS. Might've been a bit faster with 2.8 tires & longer gearing, but I really wasn't looking for high speeds. :)

  • Fantastic! Great driving too. Your trucks are so fast. Where is your track located? Looks like a great place.

  • Thanks a lot. As said earlier, I'm from Finland and this place is located near Siilinjärvi, middle Finland.

  • ps that mamba screams

  • Yup, it does have somewhat aggressive sound in it.

  • where is this taking place? becuase i live near the the oceano dunes in california

  • Have no fear, I'm not near... :D

This was filmed in an old sand mine, around 10 km's (~6 miles) north from Siilinjärvi, Finland.

  • nice. i love your guys's polka :D

  • and haha sand mine. if you said that here you would get a laugh or two because we have deserts made of sand thousands of square miles in california.

  • did sand damage ur car in any way? i got gas buggy thats speeds up 45 mph, but anyway, driving in sand is okay? and what happens if sand gets into engine?

  • No damages, if scratches in the body don't count :)

Mamba electric motors let sand in from the hole where the wires go inside, so that has to be fixed or the bearings are finished in no time. Velineon (VXL) motor doesn't have that problem.

  • hmm, i got gas RC buggy that goes up to 45 mph, but anyway thx! :D

  • u do relize his electric stampede could push 70mph with a 3 cell lipo right??? lol brushless have almost made nitro useless now....drive a brushless and ull never go back to nitro

  • make sure you get a prefilter to put on your air filter. sand can and will destroy an engine

  • Damn I about to sell my Jato on ebay and get me a Rustler Vxl!

  • Nice! I'm planning on getting VXL Rusty for the summer. My brushless E-Maxx just doesn't go fast enough... :D

  • nice vid i love my vxl rusty its alsome and my xl5 pede is nice to:)

  • ooooooooooooooohhhhhheeeeee beee kumluk elende bıle okdr hıslı gıdıyorse esveltte 80 90 yeper bu

  • Love your vids. Do you like the stampede or rustler better?

  • Thanks!

    Umm, the ultimate question...

Both are awesome trucks and have their better sides. I'd prefer Rustler as a hardcore basher and Stampede as a fun drive.

I really can't give direct answer to your question, even though I've had 1 Rustler and 3 Stampedes :)

  • yeah i have a stampede vxl and i just change it over to a rustler when i want to hit the track. only the chassis' and body posts are different.

  • thanks alot finbilly

  • Ohhh alright thanks. One more thing though, what are those tire foam inserts for with the Stampede?

  • Inserts are used to keep the tires' shape, since rc-tires are not inflated.

    Check out w w w.rc-truckncar-tuning.c o m/rc-foam-inserts.html

  • Great video, well made. I was wondering if the Stampede VXL motor or anything needs to be "broken in" before use. I don't think it does, but just a question. thanks

  • Thanks. :)

Brushless motors are ready to run from the box. No need to "break in" the motor like the brushed ones.

  • Is the 2 cell lipo 7.4 volt? any idea of run times as i am currently baattery shopping.

    Cheers

  • Yes, it's 7,4 volt.

Generally you get around 30mins of runtime with 5000mAH battery.

  • electric is better with nitro there is three problems fuel fire and air with electric it's one electric

  • should have got the nitro!

  • HA. We have a comedian in the comments section.
