  • Damn I wish I could see them finish that song on the original footage. I'll bet they rocked it on for a good bit after the show ended anyway.

  • Simply one of the best. KSHE radio brought him to the ambassodor in St.Louis as a warm up for Foghat. I am 63 and still love his music as much as ever.

  • Merry Christmas Rory...

  • everytime it just gets better

  • Sweet.

    Saw him a few times.

He seemed to be bridging the gap between different types of music at that time....a wide variety of people loved his music......he was just bloody good is the bottom line.

In fact his whole band were razor sharp.

  • Godlike genius.

  • @Continuity09 Word!!

  • its rory... stunning

  • A "TRUE" trubadoor ..no Illuminati here......A real HuMan.....

  • I was brought up on Rory from an early age, when it got to '77 i was a full on punk, bondage trousers 4 inch spiked hair destroy t shirt, the lot. Imagine that sight playing an air guitar with headphones listening to the walk on hot coals from the irish tour. My Dad didnt know what to think. RIP Rory, the world will never see your like again. . The music brings back so many memories, driving down to Spain in a beat up VW camper, surfing at Abersoch and Newquay, Cheers Dad!

  • 855fitz: I went to Rory's grave 05/31/2011. Took a cab from Blarney Castle. Dennis was the driver. Some nice momentos left there. The carving of Rory's Strat was great. If by chance you're ever near the cab stand near Blarney Castle Visitor's Center, tell Dennis the two Americans he took to Rory's grave site say hello. Thanks!

  • A good friend don Cunningham introduced me to him and I will be forever grateful

  • i love rory gallagher simples

  • i love rory gallagher simples

  • Big cudo foor you mk 12 , my daughter i named amalie. See you in ballyshannon 2012? ireland?.

  • Rory On forever ...

  • I saw Rory Gallagher in concert 10 or 11 times. Fantastic gigs and great memories. He was one of the few acts that came to Belfast in the 70s and 80s. Thanks Rory.

  • The greatest blues/rock guitarist ever-how come he's not recognised as such

  • @scullion11 oh but he is

  • mmm ended to soon...

  • i love his songs

rip rory, say hey to my father if he is around you

  • now here is a real loss to music

  • Temazo de Rory !!! solamente a algunos temas de SRV cuando rockeaba de lo lindo ( y de eso sabìa un rato largo)

  • RORY ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • In total respect for the greatest blues man ever my little group developed a punk/blues project 'Knobby the Drunken Bigfoot' available on youtube by zipstrailertrash.Who said drugs/alcohol were harmless?

  • Someone got me talking about this guy today and they said, "hold on...isn't it 'Liam Gallagher'?"

    ...

  • 5:51 great moment

  • It's True Good Guitarist Make it look so easy, but when you try even try you know its a fail, becouse they were born with it.

  • What a wonderful team!

  • My only complaint with all this Rory worship is it ignores how incredibly great the whole band is. Tight and telepathic.

  • @MrFreako2010

    agree well said

  • @MrFreako2010 yeah gerrys and amazing bass player and he always had the finest keyboardests and drummers to back him

  • @MrFreako2010 You are 100% correct on your statement about his band my friend. The Lou Martin keyboard solo in this song is amazing. Better than John Lord of Deep Purple. Gerry McAvoy was solid as well. Rod de Ath didn't get featured much, but was great.

  • @MrFreako2010

I agree completely with that. It reminds me a little of Double Trouble also. Overlooked by the genius of the main man & not quite getting the credit they deserve.

  • @MrFreako2010 Yeah, that keyboardist and drummer are outstanding, and their bass player is very good too

  • Got to be one of the greatest live blues performances... unreal, what a man.

  • Seems like such a sound guy, wish he was my friend.

  • @SteoShortall dangerous to make friends with dead people!

  • calisse de saint sacrement ces 5 types qui n'entendent pas Rory!!!tantôt vous devrez rendre des comptes incultes personnages!!!

  • what rare blood type was in Rory's sweat and eroded the paint work on his strat,? someone else on YT said it was negative AB blood type

  • @COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY According to wikipedia -AB is about 1% of people have -AB. If he had -AB I can't help but notice that influential people seem to have something physically special about them or their life that isn't what most people have, like they were born to be special.

  • @mindingosafado who knows, it could be just coincidental. There are are peole at the genius level that do not have -AB blood type. Im not so sure it;s a genetic predisposition to be "special"

  • @mindingosafado i know i know, but i was saying in general they have some defining quirk about them or their lives and the quirk is something really uncommon, but in any case it all turns out looking like big coincidences

  • I love walking by "Rory Gallagher" corner in Templebar Dublin! Then make my way to Hard-Rock Cafe, and start blasting some of his tunes! *Ahw* R.i.P Buddy <3

  • Just Great!! SF, William

  • 5 guys totally drunk! RORYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

  • respect to RORY.the greatest.

  • 4 people just don't know how to walk on hot coals..

  • @jbens911 theyre just 4 die hard hendrix fan's in denial :D cant be too harsh it must come as quite a blow. lol.

  • ... eines seiner stärksten Stücke.Besonders das Solo ab 5:10

  • Possibly amongst the greatest blues guitarists of the modern era. Sadly missed but his music lives on

  • happy birthday rory

  • Absolute Legend!! Enough Said!! R.i.P Rory <3

  • This is an awesome performance. I almost forgot about how muck I used to dig this dude.

  • This is one hot perfromance

  • I met Rory in 72 when he played 5 nights at a small club in Atlanta. We were friends until he passed away. When I got pregnant I wanted to name our daughter Rory but that didn't happen, I don' think my husband didn't agree. When we were on the way to the hospital for her birth, they played Walk on Hot Coals on the radio. That was exactly how I felt and every time I hear this song I remember that experience.

  • @masonking12000

Existen 5 guys que no saben "nada" de Musica

Larga vida al mas grande "RORY GHALLAGHER"

  • @masonking12000 A lovely recount. We were going to name our kid Rory, unfortunatly my missus at the time miscarried.

    My love to your family.

    xxx

  • @masonking12000 maybe you gave birth to his reincarnation :P

  • @masonking12000 Nothing like Atlanta, Georgia! Great story!

  • @masonking12000 Glad to say they all went on to do great things

  • We miss him everyday.

  • I saw this live on OGWT. I went out and bought my Strat., It lies in the back of the cupboard still. I was a three chord wonder.....

Rory the guitarists, guitarist gigging in heaven with Gary and Phil.

  • Classic Rory from an amazing album Blueprint ---

  • how can 4 people dislike this video- beggars belief!

  • @atsabraxas Deaf..talentless ?

  • god save RORY GALLAGHER !!!!

  • @hexcane, you are an asshole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go on and put you slippers on and read the paper

  • @hexcane to quote bigtflanagan's riposte 'fuck you'

  • Great playing.

  • Comment removed

  • @hexcane "what is it with irishmen that they feel the need to fuck themselves up with drink?"

    fuck you

  • @bigtflanagan well its better than englishmen ripping up football stands

  • @muzzt73 `yeah too right man.

  • Comment removed

  • @bigtflanagan im English to me fuckin dirty word im scouse celt living in Scotland if you take the regilous shite out the equasion Irish and Scots have alot in common that you think not just drink......the culture is very similar bit like scouse culture were as they have fuck all in common with english culture

  • @muzzt73 sorry mate, no offence intended but i really have no idea what you're trying to say.

  • The request was for a reference, not a rant. Do you have one or are you just ranting?

  • @hexcane U got a reference to substantiate ur vague thesis? Cite ur source or just shush - and none of this I've been to school - that old gubbins doesn't impress me grandad.

  • instead of whining about irish drinkers, y don't u listen to the music of rory n stop fighting

  • @cheeseppuff Stop fighting? Allow racist comments go unchallenged. No.

  • @hexcane - Not sure all males who share Rory''s nationality actualy fit within your racialised generalisation. Look at it this way: Jack Bruce liked his drugs, had the liver transplant - what is it with everyone who shares his nationality that they need to fuck themselves up ... No, that logic doesn't quite work.

  • @hexcane

Well, Rory may taken a drink a drink or two - what Irishman hasn't? - but it was prescription drugs that did for him. Those old anti-depressants and pre-benzo anxiety drugs were just poison.

  • HEEEY!!! tell em rory!!!!!!!!! :D

  • One is asking an awful LOT from wood varnish to STAY applied on that guitar.

  • Now Rory can jam with Gary...what a gig that will be! Heaven is crackling with the Blues now!

  • Rorys guitar genius aside... what about the keyboard solo at the end? Fuck me!! Robot fingers

  • visited his grave lastweek where i live in Cork, reminded him of what his fans think of him incase he forgot! A LEGEND!!!!!!!

  • Yeah! Rory was the Best... Oh boy! What a guitar player!!!

  • The problem with watching the master at work is that, when you tinker occasionally with a guitar as I do, Rory in action makes you realise what utter dogshit you really are. Immense performance.

  • Solid white boy blues.

  • Where did you get this, is from a dvd or something, this is my favorite version and i cant find it anywhere?

  • 4 People are Deaf, Blind and probably have the IQ of an old shoe.

  • kick as rock&roll

  • Thank god for YouTube...Thank god for Rory...

  • Comment removed

  • @tiger1vkulmala

    If that made any sense??

  • Genius. The ultimate guitar

  • The master is on fire! What a performance! Hendrix is a million miles away from Rory.

  • I first seen this video in 2007 and I have been watching it regularly ever since! I have passed the links to many people and they have also enjoyed it immensely!!! A truly great performance by a TRUE IRISH LEGEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Saw him at Glasgow Apollo in 1980 or 1981, awesome gig.

  • proud to be irish when you see RORY :D !

  • Saw him in Manchester at a half empty Apollo back in the early 80's and was literally blown away, speechless, and wondering why the place was not packed.....next day became an RG fan for life..thank you Rory.

  • Rory,

you were much too young when you left us,

    we miss you every day.

    R.I.P.

  • Can't choose between Gallagher and Hendrix. Jimi Hendrix was unreal.

  • @Cutchswife rory was so real it surreal.k

  • @Cutchswife Jimi was the greatest, Rory was fantastic but so was Stevie Ray and Johnny Winter.

  • Stevie Ray Vaughan was America's answer to Rory, and a dang good response too. Hendrix once was asked what it was like being the greatest guitar player in the world, and he told the reporter to " go and ask Rory Gallagher. "

  • Pure Skill

  • Wow! He's on fire! What a great performance!

  • makes me proud i play a strat...

  • Buy the Top Priority album, its one hell of a listen!!!

  • @tiernan1309 and also photo finish

  • Rory acoustic Bankers Blues unplugged and amazing playing harp too

  • What soul! He makes my heart fly.

  • Not that anyone is interested but this used to be my favorite number when I used to go see him live as a teenager in the early 70's They were Magic gigs not like a lot of the slick shit you see now....

  • proper celt... shame hes not not with us anymore

  • rory had soul.three piece band from hell

  • @altdor65 Ah that'll be four surely.

    The Pedant

  • rory had soul

  • He was havin so much fun.

  • the late rory gallagher

  • being a celt of irish descendant, this stuff really gets my blood moving fast. amazing! what an inspiration!

  • miss him sooooo much.....

    RIP Rory

  • did someone not like this? are they mental?

  • He was so gorgeous & talented, gone too soon ♥ A truly good man from what I've heard too ♥

  • I personaly like Rory's live stuff much better than anything from the studio albums, but Blueprint is a true jewel. It is a great album and this has got to be my favourite from the album, allthough Daughter of the Everglades is pretty amazing too. I don't think I've listened to any of my vinyls more than Blueprint.

  • forgot how good this guy was..........time to dig the vinal out ...

  • I miss this guy so much

  • bought a sunburst strat today :) its a squier but still... it reminds me of them old school blues gods

    i love it

  • Rory totally rocks out. 5 stars is too little!

  • 10 weeks before this video was shot, I saw him play at the Bull Island Festival on the Indiana/Illinois border in front of 375,000 people and he stole the show from all the other bands (no surprise)

  • i cant beliieve out of 183'000 views theree was only this amount of thumbs up...this man is the best.

  • @seanlucky7 we're still in awe......... even now more than 30years later

  • An irish legend.

  • @Woodstockinrock a World legend too.

  • AMAZING to see Rory here on the Whistle Test circa 1970!!!

  • this song drives it hard.

  • It's been fifteen year today that we lost Rory Gallagher. One of the worlds best guitar players, truly love his music. Enjoy this video.

  • hey tevilone - the quote you are referring to was not about Rory Gallagher, the guitarist Jimi mentioned was actually Phil Keaghy. The question was posed to him by Flip Wilson when he was subbing for Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show. Unfortunately, this may be urban legend as there is no tape of that show that exists.

  • Rory, you were the BEST!

    RIP, we miss you !!!

  • I LOVE YOU RORY!!! RIP

  • One of the most beutifful songs he has sing. so pity the good pepolle living too early.!!!! IASON THE GREEK!!!!!

  • Once Jimi Hendrix was asked, "What's it like to be the greatest guitar player in the world?" Jimi replied, "I don't know ask Rory Gallagher." Oh yeah and the Edge was influenced by Rory too. U2 average? Well, that's an opinion....
