Simply one of the best. KSHE radio brought him to the ambassodor in St.Louis as a warm up for Foghat. I am 63 and still love his music as much as ever.
He seemed to be bridging the gap between different types of music at that time....a wide variety of people loved his music......he was just bloody good is the bottom line.
I was brought up on Rory from an early age, when it got to '77 i was a full on punk, bondage trousers 4 inch spiked hair destroy t shirt, the lot. Imagine that sight playing an air guitar with headphones listening to the walk on hot coals from the irish tour. My Dad didnt know what to think. RIP Rory, the world will never see your like again. . The music brings back so many memories, driving down to Spain in a beat up VW camper, surfing at Abersoch and Newquay, Cheers Dad!
855fitz: I went to Rory's grave 05/31/2011. Took a cab from Blarney Castle. Dennis was the driver. Some nice momentos left there. The carving of Rory's Strat was great. If by chance you're ever near the cab stand near Blarney Castle Visitor's Center, tell Dennis the two Americans he took to Rory's grave site say hello. Thanks!
that's some real music. Now we got these idiots like justin bieber or that chriss brown crap. I just was bornd much to late. sorry for the faults , I'm dutch
I saw Rory Gallagher in concert 10 or 11 times. Fantastic gigs and great memories. He was one of the few acts that came to Belfast in the 70s and 80s. Thanks Rory.

@MrFreako2010 You are 100% correct on your statement about his band my friend. The Lou Martin keyboard solo in this song is amazing. Better than John Lord of Deep Purple. Gerry McAvoy was solid as well. Rod de Ath didn't get featured much, but was great.
I agree completely with that. It reminds me a little of Double Trouble also. Overlooked by the genius of the main man & not quite getting the credit they deserve.
@COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY According to wikipedia -AB is about 1% of people have -AB. If he had -AB I can't help but notice that influential people seem to have something physically special about them or their life that isn't what most people have, like they were born to be special.
@mindingosafado who knows, it could be just coincidental. There are are peole at the genius level that do not have -AB blood type. Im not so sure it;s a genetic predisposition to be "special"
@mindingosafado i know i know, but i was saying in general they have some defining quirk about them or their lives and the quirk is something really uncommon, but in any case it all turns out looking like big coincidences

I met Rory in 72 when he played 5 nights at a small club in Atlanta. We were friends until he passed away. When I got pregnant I wanted to name our daughter Rory but that didn't happen, I don' think my husband didn't agree. When we were on the way to the hospital for her birth, they played Walk on Hot Coals on the radio. That was exactly how I felt and every time I hear this song I remember that experience.

I first seen this video in 2007 and I have been watching it regularly ever since! I have passed the links to many people and they have also enjoyed it immensely!!! A truly great performance by a TRUE IRISH LEGEND!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saw him in Manchester at a half empty Apollo back in the early 80's and was literally blown away, speechless, and wondering why the place was not packed.....next day became an RG fan for life..thank you Rory.
Stevie Ray Vaughan was America's answer to Rory, and a dang good response too. Hendrix once was asked what it was like being the greatest guitar player in the world, and he told the reporter to " go and ask Rory Gallagher. "
Not that anyone is interested but this used to be my favorite number when I used to go see him live as a teenager in the early 70's They were Magic gigs not like a lot of the slick shit you see now....
I personaly like Rory's live stuff much better than anything from the studio albums, but Blueprint is a true jewel. It is a great album and this has got to be my favourite from the album, allthough Daughter of the Everglades is pretty amazing too. kickin ass im mexican but I remember this song, in guadalajara mex, back in 1971 hehe I didn`t understand English at all but i love this guy `s music, thank you , for this download, best wishes, from los angeles calif,
when you get to a point where ya wanna here some new perspective this always does the trick what a great musician..... i feel like grabbing my les paul and attemting to play anywhere close to this guy would be a nice break alot to be learned here
Damn I wish I could see them finish that song on the original footage. I'll bet they rocked it on for a good bit after the show ended anyway.
