  • Maybe someone mentioned already..not gonna read all 184 comments to check, but the best version of this has to be on PCEngine and TG16, at least for me. Being "Classic Game Room" I'm a bit surprised no mention was made of these. The DOS version is pretty slick too. Nice review though, thanks CGR.

  • Yes, this would be a turn based... *pause* *wait for it* ...strategy. And I always wondered what a run-on sentence would sound like when read. After watching this video, I feel complete.

  • Respond to this video... HOW YOU PASS IRAGAN seriously anyone?? plz

  • Hey Punipuni[punisher Advance Wars isnt a 12 year later remake u douchebag

    The first advance wars was

Famicom Wars on NES or Famicom

that was out in 1988 dnt talk if u dnt know shit

    U pathetic new age gamer

u r sooo not and old skool gamer i can smell it on ya

i can smeelll the XBOX PS3 Graphics over gameplay SADNESS!!!

  • HAHAha RTS!?!?!?!

obviously doesnt know what genre this game falls into

And if u want to know

this game is the same as Advance Wars

    Turn Based Military Warfare

    HAhahahahaha

Now that sounds ju7st as made up but at elast it's closer than than

    RTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You know it's a remake of a game from the 1980s, right?

  • this is soooo wack haha

  • So what's a good turn based strategy game for windows?

  • @kledder2 sid meier's civilization is always fun, plus you can pick up the older games dirt cheap nowadays

  • the campaign was hard as hell! so i just played local multiplayer with my brother it was cool

  • that was the beuty of this game, you were suppost to be better with half of strenght then of army then your opponent. i spent so many hours on this game. it was all about tactics, not finger fastness. in fact, i will go buy it now...

  • Rofl anyone who is commenting negatively are fucking morons and don't understand advanced levels of humor. CGR + AVGN FOR LIFE.

  • Awful Commentary nuff said.

  • It's also on Wiiware >.>

    but nice review

  • Jochem1996, This game is a remake of the US classic Military Madness that came out around 1990. It was the 'original' that I believe advanced wars was based on. Not busting on AW, I was totally addicted to Military Madness and AW was one of two games ever to be a true successor. The other was the Battle Isle series by Blue Byte software.

  • Does anyone know if the WiiWare version is different or same? I only have a Wii and I may consider getting this

  • the first 2 things i thought about when i saw this where: pure awsomeness and advanced wars in 3d

  • the guy commentating is a fukin idiot and has made me stop watching he so annoying what an arse

  • @tubecakin YES! I'm one minute into the video and I turned the audio off.

  • @tubecakin no need to get so offended over it >_>

  • The commentator is annoying as hell. Not funny.

  • going to the enemy base and chapter it is sometimes easyer

  • 1:55 First commentary about the actual game begins. Good review, though.

  • good video, but this game just looks like a 3D remake of the old turbo grafx game... disappointing for Hudson, in about 20 years just 3 versions... when they are going to make a NEW one???

  • also you can shoot up with seekers, hawkeyes, rabbits, lynx, charlies and kilroys can shoot up...Factories once they are taken over you can use them to rebuild your damaged units. Just put them in the factory and take them out on your next turn.

  • this game sucks. and im a stradegy game fan.

  • What a terrible fucking review.

Thanks for telling me nothing about this game?

All I got from this video was that the guy speaking is an egocentric knob jockey who can't tell jokes to save his life.

  • You suck. He is one of the best there is.

  • Totally agree...

I think he didn't even know that this is a remake...

  • Yeah, Valkyria Chronicles ist a great strategy title for the PS3. I loved it!

  • You would probably enjoy Valkyria Chronicles for the PS3 a lot, Mark.

  • advance wars ftw! i'm all about kanbei and anyone who says adder is a good character, gtfo.

  • this is crap compared to advance wars

  • advanced wars price is crap compared to this, so it evens out.

  • I'm talking about the ones for the gba

and plus they're free if you can find them online

  • @kluuuser

try to play the german version of Nectaris for DOS and compare it with advance wars

  • this game is actually pretty fun

  • so what if it looks like another game? if the game is fun, who cares if its a rip off or not?

  • Advance Wars wannabe. The difference?

    Advance Wars is fun.

  • Actually, the original military madness was on the TG-16 so if anything Advance Wars would be a military madness wannabe.

They're both fun but I agree that advance wars is better

  • Well, "Advance" Wars did get it's start on the Famicom as "Famicom" Wars.... but I don't know if it came before Military Madness or not. All I know is, if you wanted console strategy in 1989 in the US, you had this on TG16 or Herzog Zwei on Genesis, and that was just fine!

  • boy i've played alot of this game on tg16...I still dig it out once or twice a yr to play. I like the turbo version better...than this one.

  • @HARDCORETROLL The difference is AW is a ripoff of Nectaris, created 12 years later.

  • one of these days, I WILL play Herzog Zwei

  • Play it! It's very good for the time it was made.

  • FTL!

  • Looks like a AW rip xD

  • This looks like Advance Wars

  • FTW

  • Only 12 levels? That's bullshit. The original Military Madness had 2 campaigns, with 16 levels each, for a grand total of 32 levels! Plus I think the remake would have been cooler if it had taken place on mars instead of the moon.

  • I LOVE SOMEONE

  • Goddamnit...the classic game room site has been hacked and I had to search this on youtube...

  • This game reminds me of that game thats really fast pace with war machines and mines and resources that they play in Asia? anyone know what im talking about?

  • Starcraft?

  • i like this type of games, is there similar games for pc that are good?

  • looks like war on folvos

  • This is actually a remake of an old strategy game on the Turbografx-16. Speaking of which, Mark should go ahead and get himself one so he can review the original, and all the other great TG-16 games out there.

  • I have it on emulator, such a cool game!

  • @pgf95 Go and play Castlevania Order of Ecclesia, then tell me that again.

  • this game just sounds kool!

  • looks like advance wars for gameboy advance

  • Is the hunter which is named after the awesome tv show called 'Cosby'?

  • C&C Genarals or AOE3 are the real stadegy games

  • Battle Isle 2?

  • Warsong on the Sega Genesis is a great turn-based strategy game. Nobody talks about it, but it's one of the best Genesis games.

  • More 90s games, please

  • this reminds me of

battel isele for the amiga 500

  • Really wish they'd remake Herzog Zewi for DLC.. or even Masters of Orion 2.. probably my fav titles in the strategy departments.

  • "soldiers that capture bases" nad the battles...this is advance wars with 3d graphics!

  • This looks very boring.

  • It seems people have said it already, but yeah, it screams Advance Wars.

  • this game have been before advance wars.

  • Actually, Famicom Wars came out a year before, so no.

  • simple ......le falta mas dinamica (movimiento )

  • Comment removed

  • It's a shame the units don't have much character to them.

If they were more inspired in design I might have given this a look.

  • the gameplay looks like advance war, but in that game you can buy new stuff.

and there are some vecial that are only good against air

  • Advance Wars is predated by this game. Their combat seems similar but is actually different, since Advance Wars has ongoing unit endurance and a more deterministic damage system. MM also has set units you can get in the factories, so you have to plan out ahead what you're going to do. MM winds up being a bit more puzzle-like because of this.

A bit weird that this game seems to have fewer maps than the old game, though.

  • Wow, this game has a lot of wasted time compared to Advance Wars.

  • Btw mark if you didn't know this is a remake of military madness, for the turbografx16.

As for the title nectaris being in it is the games original title in japan.

  • This game lookz borin

  • Den don't playz it

  • advance wars ftw :)

  • I'm sorry but you are wrong sir

  • Yep, strongly reminds me of the Advance Wars series. This looks like it could be fun, but I'd have to see if it were as well-balanced as Advance Wars: Days of Ruin is.

  • i love Advance Wars!

  • This looks alright - not as good as HERZOG DREI would be ....

  • Mark, can you review Gladius and the Destroy all Humans series on ps2?

  • War 2410 for Snes still better!

  • IM BUYING A NECTARIS!!

  • Shit yeah I got this on PSN its really fun, wish it were a bit more like the older ones but shoot still good fun!

  • Nectaris reminds me on how much I want a new Front Mission.

  • I would rather play Panzer General Online for free

  • sounded like pokemon first battle

  • You realize that Military Madness was out WAYYYYY before Advance Wars right?

  • Nectaris was released in 1989 and the original Advance Wars was released in 1988

  • No. You are thinking of NINTENDO Wars.

  • of coarse he doesnt with a name like "GodzillahGodzilla" he's probally a little kid.

  • looks like a boring generic rts to me.

  • This isn't an RTS chief.

    RTS - Real Time Strategy.

    This is turn based.

  • He said "turn based strategy" dude

  • Are you controlling both teams in this video ?..

  • wow i would love to have a nectaris car..

  • It feels a little like Advance wars lol

  • Review dune 2000 XD yea lol.

  • This reminds me of advanced wars, but I hadn't played any game like advanced wars before, so eh. Also speaking of that, you need to go all out in damaging the plane so it doesn't retreat, you have to kill it quickly in one turn.

  • REVIEW DUNE XD

  • Oh yeah, I have this game on the Turbografx-16. Hawkeyes are great for taking down the Hunters.

  • this game is not alot but its fun ones u play it

  • It's like chess with SPESS MARINS

  • skip

  • super robot taisen/font mission much.

  • Lmao, I played this on the PS3 demo!

  • reminds me alot about blue bytes early 90s strategygames called "Battle Isle"

  • I don't get it.

  • Looks like a crappy game.

  • this game reminds me of advance wars

  • already have check his uploads

  • have you even played super mario world?

  • Isn't the Nectaris made by KIA?

    J/K

  • What do those little mini turrets on the tanks do? They just bounce a little and then the main gun fires

  • I actually tried out the demo version for this, because I always wanted to play a Miltary Madness game since I first heard about the Turbografx 16 in general. Unfortunately, even though I'm a fan of turn-based strategy titles, I just couldn't get into it. Perhaps I'll try to give it another chance at some point.

  • 1:42.

Rabbits VS hunters. Isn't it obvious who will win?

  • rabbits?

  • Review one of the Total War series, they are the best RTS' out there for the PC.

  • This is Classic Game Room, so Total Annihilation would better ^^

  • I'd like to see you play the original one on the TurboGraphx16 sometime :)

  • I agree, it was a very under-rated system plus I don't know if he's ever reviewed ANY TG16 games.....

I gotta go look that up now....

  • Oh yeah, tons of great games but the one that sticks out the most is Blazing Lazers, the SHUMP fan in him would love it!

  • Air Zonk and Legendary are also great titles for that machine.

  • LOL That's awesome!

I've barely played ANY of the games on TG16, but I played that game JUST ONCE and remember it as a favorite to this day, I just remember an amazing array of power-ups....

1942-1943 (I Don't think they did a version for tg16 though) was another good one, I always preferred the top down scrollers...

  • Me too bro.. must have been the vertically mounted monitors back in the arcade that first caught my eye.. there's just something about the soundtracks on those games, the beauty of the bullets flying past in shades of pastel, and the uberpwn bomb that wiped everyone off the screen.. something every good SHUMP has. :)

  • Gee Mark, what do you expect? This is based on a game thats nearly 20 years old. The single player campaign is virtually unchanged. You are slamming a game for lack of innovation that is a rerelease, and not a reboot.

  • this is sorta like advance wars for gba and ds

  • everybody reviews the new popular game, it doesn't hurt to have someone review the lesser known ones, and just because they're not popular doesn

    t mean they're shitty

  • Then don't watch it?

  • games that aren't popular or are never head of, he is the one to review them,

  • well if you dont like it stop watching them u wannabe hotshot, you should see other games he has reviewed b4 u open that big ugly hole on ur face.

  • this reminds me a lot of a psp game called field commander

  • says the guy whom nobody gives a shit about.

  • Mark, Have you ever tried the "Advance Wars" games? I think you will really like it ;D

  • Awesome review, Might go and buy this.

  • review one of the most awsome RTS ever made Command & Conquer Red alert .

To SC fans yes C&C red alert beat it no arguement here

  • What? No. SC is clearly better than Red Alert. It's still played in tournaments today. Red Alert is GREAT, but it's not a competitively viable game.

It's like how Street Fighter 2 has survived for so long in the tournament scene because of its impeccable balance.

  • I do not believe you can compare those 2 games that easily. For example I could speak of the part where in SC you need supply depots, in addition to the cost whereas in RA you only need to pay once. Also in RA you can SELL your buildings and vehicles where as in SC once it's built you are stuck with it.

  • nice review

  • :) rely good

  • the first one to post a comment is gay....and the second one to do it sucks the first ones dick=]

  • looks cool!

  • cool
