@ScottishFiddleLesson Other viewers have compared this music to Gregorian chant, or to Russian or Eastern European choral music, so you aren't alone. Sacred Harp singing has 3 or 4 part harmony, however, and I think Gregorian has just one melody line, no harmony. Maybe its the minor mode of a song like the first one in this video that makes it sound 'ancient.'
