@SinginPrincessLaura, @ChicagoSouthDan actually I watched one interview and i don't think "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" is musical, she sad that she was offered to play the unsinkable Molly Brown on "Titanic" but she couldn't do it because she had a tour....
@ChicagoSouthDan Actually she's considering being in another musical...she was offered a role...and she mentioned it in an interview...so Reba might be in broadway again soon XD
@SinginPrincessLaura So is Reba going to do "The Unsinkable Molly Brown"? I could do an Internet search on that, but you might know without my searching :)
@ChicagoSouthDan Reba was well suited to the character and material in ANNIE GET YOUR GUN. For her, this was a natural fit. While the concept of casting her as NELLY FORBUSH was motivated by her being a true Southerner, as the character is suposed to be, her singing style is not necessarily suited for the songs in SOUTH PACIFIC. Her version is certainly original, but this may not have been as natural of a vehicle for her as ANNIE GET YOUR GUN was.
@RayPointer I agree with you. For one thing, Reba is way too old to be playing Nellie Forbush (who is supposed at the oldest in her mid twenties, not post-menopausal). And her singing style just doesn't work with the music as written. It's a cute concept for a concert performance, but would not work in an actual stage production.
@MacInnich This was the same issue with the Disney TV production using Glen Close. However, that concept seemed more plausible since her singing did not seem to call attention to itself in the manner as with Reba McEntire.
Such sweet and soultry voices these two have :) Reba's voice just sounds heavenly, kinda like an angel singing to you from heaven, and his sounds like the lord singing with her :) I just cant stop watching these scenes, so beautiful..
Yup they make amazing duet partners:D but my fave male singer to sing with Reba is Ronnie Dunn of Brooks & Dunn :D thanks for the comment I'm glad you enjoy the video;)
REba has the voice, such individual style and stage presence to do most female Broadway musical parts. Glad this made it to be seen by the world of fans.
Brian Stokes Mitchell echoes the voices of the prior singers, but his accent seems less pure than Reba's does in her role, her own accent with not much change.
I think Reba was superb in this version. Her voice and personality was at one with the character. I'm sorry she could not repeat it in the current Lincoln Center production. But at least it is preserved here.
Well, its originally a musical/play and they made a movie (not with reba) this was just to raise money for pbs so it was just a reading thing really and it is available on dvd...u just have to look for it...u cud probably find it on amazon or something. But they are planning to do it in full with costumes and all soon...does that help you??
well, i read somewhere that they will be doing this show again but they will be in costumes and acting it out in full!!! that will be exciting! i hope they put it on dvd:D
I don't usually like these kind of plays but When I saw Reba I just couldn't turn away. I love anything Reba does. She a goofball in her show. Almost like a modern day lucille ball
lol i love any thing she does aswell and i hate plays like this but of course it is reba i mean come on she is great at any thing she does!!! i ♥ her to death!
I live about 2 hours from Little Rock..Arkansas. Hopefully, she's talking about Little Rock, Arkansas! Her & Kelly are coming there in November! I'm going!

um.....why hasn't somebody put Reba in an actual production of this show yet??? lol she's great!
fieldsfan1 1 year ago
@fieldsfan1 Although she starred in Annie Get Your Gun, she might not want to commit to another actual production of a musical.

@ChicagoSouthDan I doubt she'd say no if anybody ask her

My husband thought that "You're the one that I want" in Grease was "You're the wizard of Oz" Anyway lovely singing in this.

Reba was the best interpreter of this score with her authentic accent; Mary Martin was too Yankee and proper;

That's almost as funny as the grandmother who thought "the girl with kaleidescope eyes" was actually "the girl with colitis goes by".
