I have this PC too, but not the H2C. In fact, its a 710 in a 720 case. The only thing I hate is that it uses a BTX motherboard, they didnt go ATX until the 730. I want to change the mobo but it requires a lot of modding, to fit a ATX board in there. I might just buy a junk 730 and see if the parts will swap, I normally build my own PCs but I fell in love with this tower!

Depends, I mean if you want raw power and expandability, the desktop computer is always the smarter option than the laptop, as the laptop can't really be upgraded beyond its RAM and hard disk. I would go for the XPS 420 but at the end of the day the decision lies with your personal prefrence.
lol,use the evga precision utility.. for a easy overclock.. you can adjust the fan speed that it would be running at the 30%(that happened with me) :S
Who ever buys Dell is making huge mistakes. I did it myself (630i XPS). Nice comp. I got a Dell XPS 720 H2C myself the only thing different is my CPU is only 3.47 GHz. thinking about buying the one you have. For some reason idle my CPU temp is at 38C-42C idle and when i run Crysis i sometiems get a black screen. This is when i put the CPU at 3.2 GHz. idk what do do i i opened it up and put new thermal compound but dell can't do it right but didn't fix the problem

When i tried to build my 720 H2C on Dell's site it said: "You have selected more PCIe cards than PCIe slots available" I didnt add anything other then Dual 768MB nVidia® GeForce® 8800 GTX. Everything else was base. No Dual hard-drives or nothing...

I got the 24" Ultrasharp as a free upgrade for my 720, and its a fantastic screen!! I think you can, cause I also want to try it, you have to go into the graphics card settings to do it.

Alienware makes only the cases and they only using NOT THEIR hardware (motherboard, cooling......) and DELL using their hardware (motherboard, cooling system) the DELL's hardware is better than alienware because, DELL useing newest technology, optimalization motherboard and cooling and desing... I recomen DELL.
and also .. 3DMARK06 17k ? uhh u can get that with an 8800gt with voltage mod single card ( 760 core ) and they should raid your HD also .. to give u higher speed
I've since hit 20k with a more intense overclock.
Also, yes a 8800gt probably would score similar at the crappy 3Dmark default resolution. Its when you start running HQ resolutions that this PC will putt away from the rest.
I drop around 500marks from default to 1600x1200, so hardly anything. A 8800GT would be sweating at 1600x1200.
All i like about Dell is their watercooling system ...

Dell and Alienware both suck in my opinion... if you want a REAL computer BULD ONE YOUR SELF! You can get a computer for half the price and double the peformance... so if your a rich kid that mommy can fork over $4,000 for a computer that you can build for 2,500 then go for it. Its not me thats wasting the money.
This is the best PS I've have. I am statisfied with this PC. This system fly's, almost every game to date can be played at full resolution (1680 x 1050 stock monitor) with every setting as high as they can go. The only game that will play at about 30 fps is Crysis on Very High, the rest run at 60 fps, which is really nice. Amazing design and the size really makes it make a statement without even turning it on. The LED lights are pretty cool. H2C cooling works very well! I enjoy this computer :)

Its not 680i, its 570i made of a cheaper motherboard than all the rest. The H2O cooling system that this has is worse than stock cooling. Check out all the reviews on dells site of this computer overheating with BSOD's.
Well, it being a 680i means it isn't future proof. Without Pcie2.0 you won't get the performance you'd want with future graphics cards when this computer starts to lag behind on you, and that will be pretty soon (probably within the next year or so). I mean come on, the 9800gx2 just came out! And even though you can still use it, being the pci 2.0 card it is, you still won't get it's full potential.
But it's no big deal, if you upgrade your mobo to the 790i all you'll have to do is reformat.
yes maybe it's a great pc, but dell have a big problem, now dell doesn't work with the QX9650, I want buy this computer but with the QX9650 and memory ram DDR3.
ew QX6850 ??? 65 nm is outdated man, get 45nm QX9650, the 720 H2C cost $7,000 and all you get is outdated 65nm, it needs 45 nm Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650

Must have been a mistake on Dell's end.
It has enough room for two 2 lane graphics cards, a sound card and a physics card.
I even have a free pci slot with the physix card installed.

Alienware makes only the cases and they only using NOT THEIR hardware (motherboard, cooling......) and DELL using their hardware (motherboard, cooling system) the DELL's hardware is better than alienware because, DELL useing newest technology, optimalization motherboard and cooling and desing... I recomen DELL.

and also .. 3DMARK06 17k ? uhh u can get that with an 8800gt with voltage mod single card ( 760 core ) and they should raid your HD also .. to give u higher speed
and use 64bit vista/xp

I've since hit 20k with a more intense overclock.
Also, yes a 8800gt probably would score similar at the crappy 3Dmark default resolution. Its when you start running HQ resolutions that this PC will putt away from the rest.
I drop around 500marks from default to 1600x1200, so hardly anything. A 8800GT would be sweating at 1600x1200.
My HD's are in Raid0 thanks.

All i like about Dell is their watercooling system ...
i mean .. if u know how to build a computer , y would u get a dell ? custom computer are so much cheaper... and its not like DELL is a good brand ..everything has to be " DELL " PSU ETC .. and most of their stuff are made in China. ( they die in 2 years )

Dell and Alienware both suck in my opinion... if you want a REAL computer BULD ONE YOUR SELF! You can get a computer for half the price and double the peformance... so if your a rich kid that mommy can fork over $4,000 for a computer that you can build for 2,500 then go for it. Its not me thats wasting the money.

This is the best PS I've have. I am statisfied with this PC. This system fly's, almost every game to date can be played at full resolution (1680 x 1050 stock monitor) with every setting as high as they can go. The only game that will play at about 30 fps is Crysis on Very High, the rest run at 60 fps, which is really nice. Amazing design and the size really makes it make a statement without even turning it on. The LED lights are pretty cool. H2C cooling works very well! I enjoy this computer :)

psshhh, man dell cannot keep up with other gaming computers anymore i mean the 630 is ok buttt.... I mean dont they work with alienware or like Co-Own it, like hp and voodooo. Dell needs to release the most dominate gaming system i mean like TODAY, it needs to rise up some LADDERS!!

Its not 680i, its 570i made of a cheaper motherboard than all the rest. The H2O cooling system that this has is worse than stock cooling. Check out all the reviews on dells site of this computer overheating with BSOD's.

Well, it being a 680i means it isn't future proof. Without Pcie2.0 you won't get the performance you'd want with future graphics cards when this computer starts to lag behind on you, and that will be pretty soon (probably within the next year or so). I mean come on, the 9800gx2 just came out! And even though you can still use it, being the pci 2.0 card it is, you still won't get it's full potential.
But it's no big deal, if you upgrade your mobo to the 790i all you'll have to do is reformat.

Very true, but PCI/e 2.0 is a while off, no graphic card has even broke the 8x barrier let alone the 16 barrier.
