He had an idea from seeing a flower at a garden and put it in new HK flag. I think Chinese Government rejected the six designs cos they do not represent Communism!

@HongKongIndependence My point is that Britain made Hong Kong the place that it is now - disregarding how Hong Kong came into British control in the first place; Hong Kong would not have been the center of trade that it is now without having been colonized. Hence my comment wasn't about the possibility of Hong Kong being re-possessed by Britain, it was about how HK captures the British spirit.
And yes, let us hope that China will unhand HK in the near future.

You are correct, Hong Kong was never even attacked by the British to begin with, they chose that as their trading outpost at first, but war never took place in HK. And HK was born to Britain, not China, as HK was the name Britain gave, not China.

@HongKongIndependence I noticed that in your own web site that your design of the flag has union jack with a dragon on red background and that you say Hong Kong would be a independent republic but the union jack is linked to Britain and the Queen.
the Hong Kong flag has a flower that is grown on Hong Kong and is popular with Hong Kongers or so I believe. If the majority likes the flower in a yes/no vote then you should respect them and would use the current flag as flag of independent HK.

@DavBlc7 I am glad you asked that question. Do not be alarmed! That flag is not the flag of the ACTUAL Hong Kong Republic. That flag represents this Party or Movement, the Hong Kong Independence Movement. When Hong Kong achieves independence, Hong Kong citizens will have the right and freedom of expression to enter a contest on what flag design they want, and votes will determine which it is. :)

@DavBlc7 Also, to explain why the Union Jack is on there, the Chinese ethnicity/Hong Kongers have never experienced any democracy in the entire existance on the island, and those on Kowloon, and New Territories. It is only fair to recognize the British monarchy as the only, and first democratic government to ever govern Hong Kong. Therefore, the Union Jack represents Democracy, and Freedom. The Dragon represents Hong Kong's success, being one of the 4 Asian Dragons. Google the term. :)
