  • No Golpe...? Prenados con las mejores intenciones...? Estos ineptos son las escuela como fracasar en un golpe de estado

  • Chavez did not kill Martin Luther King, nor Kennedy, nor one million people for oil with lies, nor 3000 nuclear weapons pointing to every nation in the world, nor investing 700 billion dollars per year on military expenditures, nor intelligent service agencies sending mails with Anthrax Virus to its own population while blaming other country, nor Kings on its constitution, nor world record of drug addicts, nor Nazi retarded on CNN or FOX news, nor 13 trillion dollars debt.

  • This shows that before you go BELIEVING and regurgitating the "NEWS" that the corporate media BRAINWASHED you with, you should be careful not to pass on MISINFORMATION!

Los VENDE PATRIA vendian a Venezuela desde Caracas, ahora la venden desde Miami con el resto de los DESPATRIADOS Cubanos.

  • It is really sad that the media ploted with the assassins of the inocent people killed that day.

  • For this they should all lose their broadcast licenses and all should be in jail.

    Venezuela's Economy Expanded 9.4%

    December 28, 2005

    bloomberg com / apps / news?pid=10000086&sid=aM6UjOxreCwE&refer=latin_america

Dec. 28 (Bloomberg) -- Venezuela's economy grew 9.4 percent in 2005 as President Hugo Chavez boosted government spending and increased subsidies for the South American country's poor...

  • ...Gross domestic product, the broadest measure of a country's production of goods and services, expanded for a ninth quarter in the October-to-December period, Central Bank President Gaston Parra said in a statement, without giving the fourth-quarter figure. Venezuela's economy expanded 17.9 percent in 2004..

  • Poverty in Venezuela

New paper looks at data, corrects misreporting

    truthout org / cgi-bin / artman / exec / view.cgi /60/20041

An Issue Brief released by the Center for Economic and Policy Research looks at the numbers and concludes:...

  • ...The household poverty rate was thus reduced by nearly 5 percentage points, or 12.9 percent, from 42.8 percent in the first half of 1999 (when President Chavez took office) to 37.9 percent in the second half of 2005. Since the economy has continued to grow rapidly this year (first quarter growth came in at 9.4 percent), the poverty rate is almost certainly significantly lower today....

  • ...The reduction in poverty noted above, since 1999, measures only cash income. This, however, does not really capture the changes in the living standards of the poor in Venezuela, since there have been major changes in non-cash benefits and services in the last few years - for example health care is now provided to an estimated 54 percent of the population. The paper looks briefly at the impact of these changes....

  • After watching "THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED" now I understand why the American media paints Chavez as evil and a "dictator". They are also complicit in burning our Constitution by ignoring / dismissing major political events which do not favor Republicans.

  • It's nice to see that there are Americans who can understand what's really going on in Venezuela...Please keep watching and posting!! greets!!

"...So we shot the video in your house.

The general's video statement was to make Chavez stay in Venezuela brcause Chavez had a trip planend to Costa Rica.

And we needed him here for the plan to work.

So then Chavez stayed here and we activated the plan.

    What was the plan?

The plan was to get people on the street. And when things reached their peak, to activate the army."

  • Where "things reaching their peak" was a violent confrontation between anti-Chavez demonstators and Chavez supporters who had gathered in large numbers around parliament building. The confrontation came about because in violation of the permit for the demonstration the route of the anti-Chavez demonstation was redirected towards the parliament. Several Chavez supporters were killed by snipers.

  • The commercial media (RCTV etc) edited the footage to make it look like Chavez supporters were firing at the crowd of anti-Chavez demonstrators. In reality some Chavez supporters were firing hand guns in the direction where the sniper fire was coming from. The anti-Chavez demonstration never was on the road that was in the line of sight of the Chavez supporters who were firing at the snipers. It's all captured on video.

  • There are requisites wherein a government is justified in shutting down a media outlet: 1.) if it involves in a complicity to oust a regime; 2.) if private interest and not public interest is involved in the struggle; 3.) if the act waylaids national progress; and, 4.) if the so-called struggle has a foreign influence...

  • I'm really not that erudite about Venezuelan politics. But I'm informed about the great public support of Hugo Chavez. At times media elites have the tendency to criticize, attack, or intentionally back destabilization, against a leader who does not conform to their business or corporate interests.

  • "At times"

That's the understatement of the century. It's not even secret or anything: there are no exceptions to subversion of leaders who does not conform to US corporate/political (same thing essentially) -interests.

  • I suggest you watch "THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED" it's on video.google

  • What makes some so certain that the tv stations interest was private and not public? What about the opinion of the reporters that believe in something other than an increasingly authoritarian govmt. It is unwise to attempt to silence those who do not favor you. Why does all media have to agree with "Aisymnetes" Chavez?? if they are so "slim" why are they opressed in such a way? Why do they have to adopt your definition of public?

  • Chavez has "public" support: a large majority of the population supports him. The corporate media in Ven. oppose Chavez, so these media do not have public interests at heart.

People have been saying for some 8 years now that Chavez is becoming "increasingly authoritarian", but he has yet to do anything that is against the public interest.

These media are "slim" only in that the represent minority opinion, they are big in that they dominate the media. So Chavez does NOT oppress the corp. media.

  • The 4.2MM that voted against him out of a 11.3MM voter pool are not "chump change". Let's forget "public interest" and it's definition for one minute. - Are they even considered part of the "public" anymore? - Anyone who publicly differs on any of a wide range of subjects is treated like an outcast and branded as a "golpista". -Would you agree that witholding renewal of RCTV's airwave permit (which is forcing them to close down) can be possibly viewed by many as an oppressive form of payback?

  • "can be possibly viewed by many as an oppressive form of payback" - sure. But that does not make it so, and a majority does not view it that way.

Regardless of "view", fact is RCTV participated in a military coup against democratic interests.

  • youve got to be kidding me..."democratic interests?" calling the current government in venezuela democratic is like calling eminem black.

  • Chavez was democratically elected by a significant majority several times over, and international observers found no faul play.

I challenge you to present any evidence that shows otherwise.

  • however I do feel the failed coup was a stupid way to try to get rid of Chavez..now we're suffering the backlash of that move, which gives another reason to the government to point fingers/..

  • There's the fact that the DIEBOLD machines can be easily manipulated to include a malicious software that could shift votes from one candidate to the other, or invalidate the votes against him.

  • Fact is that the voting computers used in Venezuela have a paper trail so that the election result can be verified - much unlike is the case in the US.

  • Look for the video, even with the bogus software that shifts the votes the paper trail even creates a "verification" identical to the original. Watch the videos and decide for yourself.

  • Chavez' government is all but democratic. He does not believe in democracy and its evident if you look at his background. An ex-military conspiring against a democratic government. He def used democracy to get where he is now so he can destroy it from within. ...and about the people who support him.... an easily led mob.

  • Chavez was elected by a large majority several times over. International observers of those elections found no foul play.

It's just that any nation that does not allow its wealth to be stolen by wealthy nations, is demonized by those same wealthy nations who want to steal the wealth.

  • In this case is Chavez who wants to steal the wealth. Why would he spend billions of dollars in weapons to defend a nation against an imaginary 'invasion' when the poverty levels are at their highest after 9 years. Soon he will find no population to defend as they die of simple diseases or hunger. He gives away our money to other countries just to 'buy' friends.

  • I you must lie, don't make it so obvious.

    venezuelanalysis dot com /news.php? newsno=1979

"Venezuela has achieved substantial improvements in the fight against poverty. The statistical evidence that we have compiled shows that from 1995 to 2005 the number of homes under the poverty line has decreased," stated the World Bank.

  • I just checked the statistical data from the world bank, to see if i was wrong or i was living a daydream. I found NO DATA on the page of the world bank for "Poverty Headcount Ratio at national poverty line". So can you please point to where that information is? i'd be glad to make the analysis.

  • Sure the wealthy and others who oppose Chavez are part of the public. They are free to do as they please as long as it's to instigate overthrow of the government. These people are not getting poor because of Chavez, it's just that in particular the very wealthy now have a harder time to become richer still. The vast majority of Venezuela benefits to some degree from Chavez' policies.

Welcome to the Chávez revolution - where the rich keep getting richer

  • Would you deny broadcasting rights to a television station that actively participated in a coup against you? They're called the PUBLIC airways for a reason - they're supposed to benefit the public not some slim private interest.
