Sound in relation to consciousness is my main vehicle for meditation. In relation to one of your last points in terms of extending ones consciousness beyond the "body", I found as a child I would often do just that, and it was easier as well. Sometimes I would move it further into my body as well; I distinctly recall moving "it" deeper into myself or shrinking it and everything took on a sense of hugeness and heaviness. Very nice post!
