@thomaskimura my concern is that you considered a small family owned or independent shop a "corporation." though the message they was trying to convey was unbelievable muddled, the point was to target large multinational corporations, yet they destroyed a lot more than this.

Small shops aren't exactly "corporations" rather they are contributing to the corporations. They are selling material goods and promoting the idea of money = success. Most of the protesters were all there for different reasons and I'm sure the ones who reeked havoc had their reasons. You can't just group all the protesters or even all the black bloc and say they all have a common purpose. Everyone is an individual and some may view things differently just like you and me.

@thomaskimura I disagree with your comment about how small shops are contributing to the corporations and capitalism. Though I see your point, I don't see any direct link between selling merchandise and the idea that money = success. Every individual has their own ideal of success and regardless of what that is, money is very much necessary to survive in the modern world. And I didn't mean to lump all the protesters together, but my impression is that the black bloc had a fairly uniform purpose.

Many privately owned businesses were vandalized as well, regardless of how the insignificant number of protestors, less that 1 percent of the Canadian population, want to spin it.

When did i watch a video where a protester claims that corporations were targeted. This is coming out of my mouth this has been something i believed for awhile. Protesters destroyed stores and some independent i agree. The point is to destroy materialism. If you are so strongly effected by a window breaking at any store; it shows how attached you are to this materialism. Maybe you should find other things in life that are more important to value.

I value independant proprietors being able to do business in order to support their families without dumb fuck protestors, who represent less than 1 percent of the Canadian population, smashing in their windows and sending their insurance through the roof.
We ALL have the right to prosper in a democracy using our time on this earth and if one individual's idea of prosperity is monetary it is still his or her right.
