  • WRTV's "6" logo at that time looked somewhat similar to the "b" in the ABC logo.

  • I wonder if this is the same sign-off as the one they used in 1980? I had no idea it was Jay Baker, I've always loved his voice.

  • Wow. I totally remember this clip! I was just reminiscing that, after announcments such as these, there was static which meant I was overdue for bedtime! I had no idea this was Jay Baker. Very cool.

  • Too funny -- I'd forgotten stations used to do that! and Jay Baker has become as much a part of Indy as the track -- i wanna say he's been on the radio as long as i can remember, but that'd make him sound realllly old, so maybe just as far back as when i was old enough to listen to q95 ;)

  • Love Jay Baker's voice. Would love to hear more! He's also great at impressions, and funny sense of humor.

  • hey 'mobilene' I heard that Jay Baker returned to Q-95 a while back aperently he left WKLU to go back to Q-95 they most have given him a whole lot of money to maybe just enough for him to come back just thought I should tell ya

  • That sounded like Jay Baker, the one time Q-95 DJ and Bob and Tom Show regular. His alcoholism ruined his career, so I guess his WRTV sign-off is ironic.

  • @ch20stn LOL..that was a funny comment..to bad most won't know your kidding..

  • @MegaPalmtree123 Too bad you don't read newspapers or listen to the radio to know that Jay DID have a drinking problem and seeked counseling for it. And you don't hear him on the air anymore. So, put that in your vodka and drink it. You moron!

  • they should still sign off like this, but now we are always on the go so tv keeps up with this fast paced life we live

  • I agree with you debfan74, they should.

  • yeah because there are plenty of cable stations....it not only gave your tv a break but I believe it meant the station was closed down each night

  • WRTV is an ABC affiliate.

  • This date on the Sign Off Clip is October 5, 1986

  • Give me the Full Date

  • That's Jay Baker on the vo. He currently does evenings at 101.9 WKLU in Indy.

  • Never expected to hear My Country Tis of Thee--well it's different I will say.

  • I'm wondering if the Mormons did their own film to "America the Beautiful" - what KNBC aired on their sign-offs was a homemade affair. I reckon it would've been along the lines of this and their version of "The Star Spangled Banner," visual-wise.
