@FuzzyCow777 your wrong sir. Red rub oscars are the only oscar with "red" in its name thats an orange oscar. I know I've had one for the past 5 years. Hes 12 inches and looks exactly like that one you have except wayyy bigger! Ive also has a 6 inch tiger and albino before. Unfortunately my orange oscar killed them.
@will20091995 Well you can use any filter you want it will just take some more maintenance on your end. I'm not the type of aquariast that says you have to go by the books. But I had about 100g worth of filtering in a 55g tank so, it was very easy and always looked great inside. Just think about what is better for your time and your fish more importantly.
@BigolePappy2 I got the tank on craigslist for 100 with the stand and a filter. I would say i dumped 600 dollars into that tank with all the extras i bought.
Thats a great deal! Stands usually cost a ton. I don't think I'll spend that much tho as a lot of what I will use is driftwood and self propagating plants--which aren't taht expensive. Its easy to say it will be cheap until you actually start putting it together. Also are there differences between Red/Alibno/Tiger Oscars other than looks?
you should raise the water level in that tank. with that much filtration the water should be crystal clear. the distance between the HOB filters from the water line is to much and your getting alot of bubbles because of it. if you are trying to oxygenate the tank by doing that its not gona work. the emporor 400 is taking care of that for you.
@MrReigningmetal or maybe it was low because I get bad evaporation and I have more to do than sit around and fill my tank every time a gallon gets lowered.
Not a tiger oscar thats a orange Oscar. Tigers are black with red stripes

@rickandkiki If you want to be technical.. Its a Red Oscar. It is also known that Red Oscars bred with Common Oscars result in Tiger Oscars.

not tryin to be rude, the best way to prevent evaporation is to lessen any space you have between the filters and your hood/ cover.
