@albinoraverwolf Mr. Barret has good taste! @747ladyhawk I read your comment yesterday but just caught that line in the song today. WOW! I NEVER noticed that line before. Amazing what they used to slip into these songs. Now, they are just crass and say it all outright.
MAYBE THE BEST AND IDEALISTIC LOVE SONG EVER...DAMN...IT BRINGS BACK SO MANY MEMORIES, FROM HS, COLLEGE, POST DIVORCE AND A FEW GALS THAT I THOUGHT WOULD BE PERFECT....DAMN, KITTY...BUT I GUESS THERE ARE NO SUCH THINGS AS MIRACLES, UNLESS U BELIEVE IN gOD...WHAT A FARCE..BUT THERE HAS TO BE HOPE AND MORE HOPE AND MORE HOPE TO GET WHO AND WHAT I FINALLY WANT IN LIFE..X0...
1975 and I was in love with this girl who kissed me when this song was playing. I'll never forget her kiss.....and this song brings back those memories every time
If I remember correctly Marty tried to break up the violent incident beneath the stage at Altamont and got punched and knocked down by the Hells Angels
The singer is Marty Balin, accompanied by Grace Slick. Balin also sang the Elvin Bishop song you mentioned. Marty also started the band Jefferson Airplane, then left, then when he returned, it had morphed into Jefferson Starship. He joined the band in 1975, the year this song came out.
donna, I don't know where you are, what you're doing; this song takes me back to 1975/1976, and I think about how much in love we were. Wow! I think of you now and then, if my life was different, I'd love to see you again. The way things are, I'd just be jeopardizing my life now, I love it too. Can I love two at once? Yes, I don't think I ever stopped loving you. Pls know that I'm yours forever - maybe we'll be together again in the next life, because this one will end soon enough - george
@mightycpa Know what you are talking about all too well. For me, as of right now, it lacks two days of being 36 years that I fell hopelessly in love- but it wasn't meant to be.I often wonder if she ever thinks about me or if she even remembers me. Who knows? Maybe the old adage about unanswered prayers holds true here also.
One of the greatest songs ever, performed and recorded perfectly. I saw Starship live in New Haven in 1976, and it was the theme song for me and my girl. I was never so much in love and this song is imprinted on my soul.
I wish there was a live performance of this tune from 1975; I would have loved it. This is one of the songs I remember hearing on the radio when I started Kindergarten. Oops! Did I just age myself? Oh well...
@kja427 Not at all I was thinking the same thing...First time I heard this song was in '75 I too was in kindergarten and the radio station was 77WABC AM (yes kids we once had awesome stations on the am side) The DJ was Ron Lundy.

My wife and I met Sept. 1975 and we married 7 weeks later.. This is our song ... We have been married for 36 years and we are still on our first date...We know of very few who are as happy as we are ..The secret ?? Live for the other person....True love is selfless... Your happiness comes only from loving your mate.. Your only pupose in life is to live for her and make her happy... We had no children.. We married to be with each other.
Only song i like by them and for all the people who think music is getting worse are dumbass'. Its because you are listening to mainstream. Think outside the box and look for the artists that arent from the big music labels. Its fucking ridiculous. Thier is good music out there. Whether you like it or not music is going to continue to evolve its style and sound every decade. Like it has in the past. Compare the 50's to the 60's and 60's to 70's so forth. They sound a lot different.
I lived in San Francisco in 1976 when this song got popular. It was a beautiful time. You could hear stuff like Fleetwood Mac's Landslide, John Lennon's #9 Dream, and the early disco stuff on the radio. I rented a four bedroom apartment on Cole St. near the Haight Ashbury for $110 a month. A gorgeous eddy in time and space, never to be seen again.
I fell in love with my wife thirty-five years ago to this song. It holds a place in my heart nearly as much as does my wonderful wife. Tomorrow will be my wife's birthday. I love her so much.
i was born in 1995 20 years after this song was released but wow it is awesome, that is in my opinion just how awesome the older music is, it has staying power not sure if Lady GAGA or others of today will, but this music proved it's value, not only the people who was there when this music was on the radio but allot of students in my school listen to it, or at least the ones who value all talent and not be so bias on RAP or Hip Hop
@cindyns1 true that the 50s,60s,70s,80s music will live on as long as i am alive. :D I'm 19 so if i make it to 100 it will go on for at least another 81 years lol. I'll listen to those songs from those era's than todays songs that seem to keep worsening.
@8P1NK15FloyD90 Enjoy the time period you are in now. The 70s had their problems (believe me: I'm a survivor of them: war, drugs, homelessness, pollution). Enjoy the music, sure, but enjoy being whatever age you are. Musical tastes change but people remain the same: still have dreams, aspirations, and a desire to be loved.
@HoneypietwinnyI doubt you danced with this band on this album in 2000. They haven't been together since 1975. When the band consisted of Grace Slick - vocals,Marty Balin - vocals, guitar,Paul Kantner guitar, banjo, vocals,Craig Chaquico - lead guitar, synthesizer, backing vocals,Pete Sears bass, keyboards, guitar, backing vocals,David Freiberg - keyboards, synthesizers, bass, vocals,Johnny Barbata-drums, percussion, vocals,Papa John Creach violin U danced with a cover band calling themselves JS
how daunting, it is to know that this music is 36 years old. The brevity of life is the only real surprise this live has dished me. Who cares, its still fun to ball to this music, makes me pour out my love...
I love this song. I think this song has a place in everyone's heart and you may have heard it a thousand times before that happened and if it hasn't yet it can still happen and if does it won't be a miracle but i guarantee you'll believe....Can i get a thumbs up from all those who believe??
ALWAYS liked this song for its' smooth mellow connotation with the ease, grace and style with which they sang this song. We can use some MIRACLES in our day to day lives. Songs were simply cut from a much different/better cloth in the 70's than today as they were conscious of the possibility of WHOLE families listening so the lyrics reflected that! (MOST songs NOT ALL!) A dying art now a days with the music as they could care less what's in the lyrics as long as it sells.
@crazycatlady68 I so too agree todays music is not the same as back in the day.Kids today they don't have a clue to what good music is.Thank GOD i was born in a time when the music was great and still is.

i was born in 1995 20 years after this song was released but wow it is awesome, that is in my opinion just how awesome the older music is, it has staying power not sure if Lady GAGA or others of today will, but this music proved it's value, not only the people who was there when this music was on the radio but allot of students in my school listen to it, or at least the ones who value all talent and not be so bias on RAP or Hip Hop

I think this song has a place in everyone's heart and you may have heard it a thousand times before that happened and if it hasn't yet it can still happen and if does it won't be a miracle but i guarantee you'll believe....Can i get a thumbs up from all those who believe??

honestly, fuck "crank". I came here because I miss my Red Octopus vinyl. Appreciate the music for what it is, and not what movie it was in.
