Within a couple of hours only a small piece of bone or two was left on the shore. Virtually no waste. A can of beans was about $6 then. The inuit must hunt to survival. It is their right. It is their land. I am a kabluna and I know it.

Its obvious that the IWC in restricting the manner in which the Whale is hunted to traditional means as a way of limiting the numbers caught each season. I think they are quite fearful that by allowing mechanized hunting they could decimate the whale population in that particular region.
I have no problem with Whale hunting if its a matter of survival rather than tradition. Unfortunately some countries partake of the practice so they can sell the meat as a delicacy and I totally disagree with that.
Well, I live in Russia and really enjoyed this video. Even if it was shot in over part of Russia it really seems for me like another part of world, like if I was watching images of Australia. So fascinating. I really hope that those people's problems will get solved. Also, I was very impressed to see that local people still maintain their traditional way of life.

I don't understand why these people are following the rules of the Irrational Whaling Commission. It is not a law enforcement agency, can't arrest anyone, and has no authority other than public opinion. These people should use whatever methods they can to hunt whales. And if the IWC rep doesn't like it, then he can go overboard and swim back to shore. The restrictions that are being put on these people show a blatantly racist attitude on the part of the IWC.
