Here in Germany even old ladies drive faster than 85mph(140kmh). And we don't have bad traffic statistics. Also my car drives most efficient at around 120-140kmh.

i live in Germany. It's great without speed limits although not all "Autobahns" haven't got a speed limit. If you're late for work you just go faster. Normally they all go 130km/h.

jobs are still bad, economy is bad, and the banks+oil are still most profitable branches of economy. stopping trend and reversing it are two different things.

In germany going 90mph isn't that uncommon. For getting from A to B I think 85mph is good enough. >105mph I think is scary fast, if you hit the brakes not that much happens.
Maybe the driver just really didn't like NYC

Point A. A few billion dollars isn't a large amount of money in the scope of _TRILLION_ dollar federal budget.
Point B. You vote for up or down of Program X(which costs x billion dollars) in Congress...you can't exactly haggle down to the last cent. Somebody's gonna come up short or long a few billion, no matter what.
That said: Obama sucks, and I hate that I'll have to vote for him in 2012 as a matter of damage control.

On a long, straight road, eighty five is not fast. People drive 75 all the time on regular freeways in traffic. And you don't tailgate people at that speed.
Something no one talks about is how much extra gas is burned sitting in traffic because too many people are on the roads. Get people off the road 20% sooner and you have 20% less traffic.
