In other news, USA protectionist measures and its trade wars have really taken off. The "Buy American" clause in the stimulus bill. Now the USA is imposing duties on Chinese steel after imposing duties on Chinese tires. I'm sure there's a whole list of others. It's funny that people say China's weak currency is an unfair trade advantage. It's China's weak currency that allows for the USA's higher standard of living. Protectionism always ends up hurting the protectionist country long term.
One more thing. When central banks or the IMF sell large amounts of gold on the market, the price often dips. Here the IMF sells 6.8 billion in one night and the price spikes upwards. The central banks have caught on, along with many individual investors, that the US dollar is too unreliable now and are heading for the emergency exits.
Economists were wondering if China would put "the floor" under gold. It seems like India has beaten them to the punch. This should get interesting. China has been quietly(or maybe not so quietly) building up its gold reserves. China's next move on gold is the one to watch now.
Ever talked to a Dell computer person when a problem happens to the PC? Not being sarcastic. They are doing a lot of OUR service jobs. In fact, I work with attorneys. One told me you could fire your secretary and put dictation on a digital recorder and email it to India. Next morning, yep, open email, print off Microsoft Word, and there's your written court document. Not lying. (He didn't fire his secretary though) Just got word of it from a legal book or associate or something. It's real.
Times are so bad, things are so manipulated, that you should buy food and ammo. Things to trade, like any imported foods..........olive oil, coffee, tea, spices will be good to trade after the Fireworks. Food, Food, Food. The Greatest Survivor Show ever is imminent.
I found it interesting that yesterday afternoon we had some large moves in gold, and Yahoo finance stopped tracking the price moves for whatever reason and showed zero percent while we had a move over $20...error, isolated incident..whatever.
I heard somewhere that once gold went above 1,060 that the dollar would tank -- I am no economist, this is just what I've heard; is there any truth in this?
finally, the gov has been repressing the market and i am tired of dealing with all the fraud, hell they are minipulating gold as well cause it would be higher if the gov did not do all the bail outs!

As far as I'm aware of, there's only about 158,000 tonnes of Gold ever mined from this planet and in circulation.

He meant to say 200 metric tonnes. Not million.

Sorry its 7 billion dollars they purchased in gold, that is more reasonable
solojam 2 years ago
This could be the moment the gold market goes hyperbolic. I would buy gold now; waiting for a dip at this point is a bad gamble(IMO).
joel1923 2 years ago
im in silver, gold overvalued imo but still it underperforms silver

200 metric tons of gold was purchased by India from the IMF (not 200 million tons).
