They did a good job making you wonder if Squall was lost in another dimension before they showed him at the end. This game totally schooled me with the final boss and I sure as hell didn't wanna grind in the castle, so I decided to just watch it here. ^_^;

I just came across a theory today, stated that the Rinoa that Squall first saw in time compression, is actually the spirit of Ultimecia after she's been defeated. This explained why Squall couldn't see her face and why Ultimecia's face appeared during that flashback sequence, and why the background music was unexpected scary. And corresponded to this, the Rinoa at the opening would also be Ultimecia.
After that, the real Rinoa finally found Squall and bring him back. And no, Squall didn't die.

i always considered the first part where he was remembering her an acid trip or a really big mindfuck! :D but i miss long endings after hours of game play nowadays its no more than 5-6 minutes top.
Man, I was always confused by what the first part meant. Like, with Squall's flashbacks of Rinoa. Nowadays, I'd think the CGI animators were just playing around with parts of the footage.
Anyway, I always liked this ending; I found it heartwarming that Seifer and his little gang were doing just fine, and it was also sad about Laguna, when he visited his wife's grave and remembered the night he proposed to her.
What the fuck!? How could this be done, is it just upscaled and set to 16:9 or is it upscaling and THEN screen filtering? I had no idea they could upscale FMV's, or is this edit fan-made?
FF8 is the most emo game out there. But it can be considered decent, if Squall dies at the assassination, and the rest of the game is Squalls consious/pergatory
BTW, I just noticed that Lightning looks SO MUCH like Squall... I know Nomura said that she was designed mostly after Cloud, but god God, does she look like him...
Final Fantasy 7 big wuppdy fucking do, it got more then one game, maybe because it had too many holes in it so they had to make more games to fill in the said holes.
This game here, it filled in all its holes, so we won't be expecting and more FF8 games, if Laguna does get his own then it has to be during his time after windmill and the last boss would be Adel if Laguna didn't trick her but him beating her ass into there, sadly it won't happen.
While playing skyrim, I notice the mechanics are great, the graphics are good, and the soundtrack is...effective...But a game like that will NEVER evoke the emotion that this game has, or that any other good classic RPG game has!
I also like the in game scene right before this with everyone running around on the white screen, particullarly the part when Rinoa says the one place she wants to be is with squall

Oh well, the biggest problem is that Final Fantasy 8 is a finished, self-contained storyline and doesn't have any open storyparts with crappy prequels and sequels, like that *other* game.

@ziphartstar That's not the image I'm referring to. Check 4:22. It's the image right before Rinoa in space. It's a glimpse, a minor fraction of a second so you need to pause just in time. (Squalls' face hollowed out)
12:42 onwards, this was different than the original Playstation version!There was softer orchestral music instead of trumpet-heavy victory-esque music, and didn't have the extra over-view of the garden before the scene shows Rinoa and Squall.
This version has very sharp graphic rendering but I still prefer the original ending!
well i gotta say that i know final fantasy makers are looking to make new ff games hell they always are but to tell you the truth i think fantasy fans would love sequels more then any new stuff im serious they really should redo ff 7 8 & 10 on ps3 if they did it right it be one hell of a money maker cause those are the most famous of the hole series everyone loves 7 8 & 10 it just isn't in anymore to make new 15 16 17 etc etc do what the fans want & continue there favorites
I love this ending. I tear up on like three different parts. - When there's the sequence where Squall can't see Rinoa properly, and it shows the glass of the space suit break and her dead face is up close. The part where Laguna goes to the grave, and finally when there's the footage in the credits and it shows Rinoa. Best ending ever.

Ok. I completed this game earlier this evening and I can say two words. Great game. Final Fantasy 8 is a good where if you don't know how to play it, then you won't like it but if you know how to play it, you won't be able to put the game down. The ending of this game is just awesome but there are some parts in the story which is stupid. Overall I give this game a 8/10. FF 7, 8 9 and 10 were the best!
What's going on? Is he trying to remember the faces of his time (Rinoa)?? Is he losing form due to being lost in time? And with the last bit when Rinoa's space mask thing breaks, is that a possible outcome of her death the time space hit him with? I think this shows he's completely lost at this point and the faces in his life are starting to fade from his conscience...
@jmek08 They say that when you die your life flash's before your eyes, the fact that Rinoa was the most inportant person in his life is the reason she's the focus of his memories. He's stuck in the time compressed world so his memories are being erased by the magic of the compressed world. Like what was said in the game nothing can exist in such a world so he's being erased from existance. The part at the end with Rinoa in sape is what would have happend to her if Squall was'nt there.
@jmek08 The fact that the game itself is stuck in a time warp is what makes the part were Rinoa's spacesuit brakes all the more dramatic. If Squall was erased from time then Rinoa would have died at that point, & with him erased from time there would be nothing left to stop Ultimacia. That sceen at the end with her was the realisation of what was happening to him as the time compressed world consumed him.
The last scene with Squall and Rinoa at the balcony, the music style was wrong. The song from the original scene was much more suitable. If only it had that original sound than this video would of been perfect!
Wow, Epic ending. Hehe. Leon is one cool guy. I love how he was used in KH and FFD. But, my fave char in FF would have to be Zidane. He was in the game before this, right. The girl remineds me of her. I didn't play this sear of FF, so I have no idea who she is. She just makes me think of Dagger, or you can call her the Princess. w-e you want to go with. lol

@MrFinlandPatrick Dissidia isn't really a sequel to any Final Fantasy game, it's more of a spinoff. The same could be said with KH and all the other Square/Disney characters in it.
I lo0ved how the song that plays "Eyes on Me" is directly sung to Jaguna by Julia. She was talking about how she wanted to sing instead of play the piano and how Laguna inspired her to write a song. So thats supposedly her singing in the background :)

12:42 onwards, this was different than the original Playstation version!There was softer orchestral music instead of trumpet-heavy victory-esque music, and didn't have the extra over-view of the garden before the scene shows Rinoa and Squall.
This version has very sharp graphic rendering but I still prefer the original ending!

well i gotta say that i know final fantasy makers are looking to make new ff games hell they always are but to tell you the truth i think fantasy fans would love sequels more then any new stuff im serious they really should redo ff 7 8 & 10 on ps3 if they did it right it be one hell of a money maker cause those are the most famous of the hole series everyone loves 7 8 & 10 it just isn't in anymore to make new 15 16 17 etc etc do what the fans want & continue there favorites

I love this ending. I tear up on like three different parts. - When there's the sequence where Squall can't see Rinoa properly, and it shows the glass of the space suit break and her dead face is up close. The part where Laguna goes to the grave, and finally when there's the footage in the credits and it shows Rinoa. Best ending ever.

Nobuo Uematsu left Square Enix in 2004 and founded "Smile Please", a music production company.
These events are officially not results of any disagreement, but with the series loss of direction from the visionary artist and characteristic compositions, the games are no longer what it was.

@ofakar 10 was horrible, 11 online only is bullshit, 12 was great i think brought back a lot of oldschool to it other then the realtime action battling i wasn't to fond of, but that's the END of final fantasy in my opinion, having all this hipster japanese futuristic styling rpg shit just doesn't work

@InShatteredMolds Disagree on 10 (except the voice acting), but other than that I couldn't agree more. Although XII sticks out, it's truly a great game. It's different, partly because it's enix's work, but it works. Makes me wonder what happened..

anyway I just want to know why every video I've seen of the end of VIII everyone cut's out the last part of the credit. How is it the complete ending if you miss the credits, I mean come on the music that's played after the camcorder footage of the credits ends is amazing why would anyone cut it from the ending.I think I'm just going to go play VIII & watch the TRUE full ending. :(

Ok. I completed this game earlier this evening and I can say two words. Great game. Final Fantasy 8 is a good where if you don't know how to play it, then you won't like it but if you know how to play it, you won't be able to put the game down. The ending of this game is just awesome but there are some parts in the story which is stupid. Overall I give this game a 8/10. FF 7, 8 9 and 10 were the best!

What's going on? Is he trying to remember the faces of his time (Rinoa)?? Is he losing form due to being lost in time? And with the last bit when Rinoa's space mask thing breaks, is that a possible outcome of her death the time space hit him with? I think this shows he's completely lost at this point and the faces in his life are starting to fade from his conscience...

@jmek08 They say that when you die your life flash's before your eyes, the fact that Rinoa was the most inportant person in his life is the reason she's the focus of his memories. He's stuck in the time compressed world so his memories are being erased by the magic of the compressed world. Like what was said in the game nothing can exist in such a world so he's being erased from existance. The part at the end with Rinoa in sape is what would have happend to her if Squall was'nt there.

@jmek08 The fact that the game itself is stuck in a time warp is what makes the part were Rinoa's spacesuit brakes all the more dramatic. If Squall was erased from time then Rinoa would have died at that point, & with him erased from time there would be nothing left to stop Ultimacia. That sceen at the end with her was the realisation of what was happening to him as the time compressed world consumed him.

The last scene with Squall and Rinoa at the balcony, the music style was wrong. The song from the original scene was much more suitable. If only it had that original sound than this video would of been perfect!

Wow, Epic ending. Hehe. Leon is one cool guy. I love how he was used in KH and FFD. But, my fave char in FF would have to be Zidane. He was in the game before this, right. The girl remineds me of her. I didn't play this sear of FF, so I have no idea who she is. She just makes me think of Dagger, or you can call her the Princess. w-e you want to go with. lol

But still, knowing that, the 2 girls still remined me of the same person. i never did get the chance to play this one, but something told me it was after the one with Zidane. i guess I never really had time to look into it a bit deeper. haha, oh well. Thanks for the correction. Helps me out a lot. Now I think I am going to look for FF8. I never did understand the # things on them. Just 1-5. lol

@MrFinlandPatrick Dissidia isn't really a sequel to any Final Fantasy game, it's more of a spinoff. The same could be said with KH and all the other Square/Disney characters in it.

I lo0ved how the song that plays "Eyes on Me" is directly sung to Jaguna by Julia. She was talking about how she wanted to sing instead of play the piano and how Laguna inspired her to write a song. So thats supposedly her singing in the background :)
