  • bless your heart, having people like you in this world makes me less angry.

  • @NonSilentKiller Good deal and good for you and the rest of us too.. hahahaha.

  • hi, would you build me a gas can banjo?

I havent been playing all that long but i think they are awesome.

I live in the uK so would have to be posted.

I am happy to send you the money if you agree.

  • @elvinelectrical I think you'll find that the cost to get it over there is more than it's worth. I've actually sold 3 to people in Europe who have backed out once they've checked the import tax or whatever it is. That said, I've got one built, ready to go for $250 + shipping. If you do a search on my vids for : " I've Got a Home in Glory Land with a syrup can banjo " you can see me playin' it.

  • @rpeek How much to ship a gas can banjo to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, t5g 0g4?

    These are totally cool.

  • @pacificcloud No idea. I don't sell 'em cheap though, and right now don't have any extra ones to sell.

  • my friend I have been inspired, got my oil can off ebay, its here, cant wait to get stared!

  • @roussinmark Awesome...

  • @rpeek hi man,

I have posted onto one of your videos about the gas can banjos.

    Gas can banjo part one.

Look forward to hearing from you.

  • thats an awesome can indeed!

  • I was wondering...can you make a banjo neck out of an existing guitar neck?

  • @Woozyization Yes.. Look up Edda520. He did one and put it on a tea pot and bade a banjo out of it.

  • @rpeek Alright. Im new to this, and im trying to build a gas can bajo. but i dont wanna pay a lot for a neck on ebay because i have a guitar neck that isnt getting used.

  • @Woozyization Okay then. did you go to see Edda's tea pot banjo?

  • @rpeek yeah but i have an idea for a pot. its an old watt meter off an old powerline that we have on our land. it looks a bit small but it might work.

  • @Woozyization How small? I've got a banjo that is 9 inches across..

  • @rpeek Its about 6-8 inches across but it doesnt look big enough to make one out of.

  • is it even possible to get a finished neck for less than 100 dollars?

  • @elliotbosveldiznotme You can find necks on ebay for under that. The price depends on the quality and condition and whether or not it has all the pegs and such.. I usually spend a bit of time shopping when I'm looking for one.

  • Yea It Should Work Quite Well..And I Thank You Alot You've Been Alout Of Help Ol'Pal..

BTW Are You On Facebook Or Anything..

  • @Hensley1212 I'm technically there, but I never really go there or do anything there..

  • I'm Planning On Doing This With An Acoustic Guitar Neck What Wound Be The Best Way To Attach The Neck To The Can..I've Only Got One Shot At This I Dont Want To Mess Up..

  • @Hensley1212 Does the neck have a piece that laid on top of the guitar body or does the whole neck come down to the end of the fret board..?

  • @rpeek The End Of The Fret Board Lays On The Guitar Body. ..Thanks For Responding

  • @Hensley1212 That's going to be more of a problem, because you need to be able to put the bridge an equal distance from the 12th fret as it is from the 12th fret to the nut. edda520 did it on a tea pot with an adjustable rod. Search his vids for "rat rod banjo" and you'll see. That's a different ap than either a banjo neck or a regular guitar and it's going to take some thinking to figure out how to replace the wood, or at least the space, under that fret board

  • @Hensley1212 + it's better if the fret board is even with the edge of the can, not on top of it.

  • @rpeek I See What He Done There With The Piece Of 2x4 Will A Guitar Tune Up The Same As Long As You Measure The From The Nut To The 12th And From The 12th To The Brideg,,

  • @Hensley1212 Yep it will. I probably would have added wood under the fretboard and drilled it for a wooden dowell rod, then put that through the can. That's what I do on the banjo necks, that have wooden dowell rods, but I've not messed around much with guitar necks..

  • @rpeek Thats What I Plan On Doing Is Adding A Pice Of 2x4 To Flush The Fretboart With The Top Of The Can Then Adding A Dowell To The Pice Of 2x4..

  • @Hensley1212 I think that will work and you'll be happy with it.

  • @rpeek I See What He Done There With The Piece Of 2x4 Will A Guitar Tune Up The Same As Long As You Measure The From The Nut To The 12th And From The 12th To The Brideg..

  • there are cans of olive oil that that you can still buy in the store today italian restaurants use that oil so maybe you can get cans for free there only going to put it in the trash you dont have to buy on ebay save money if you can get it for free

  • @songpoemguy Yep. I made a banjo out of an olive oil can, and it sounds real nice. Got a video of it up on here somewhere. Think it's called "Making an oil can banjo" or something like that.

  • @rpeek can a banjo be made out of a tomato juice can? i like your videos

  • @songpoemguy How big's the can? If it's about the size of a 1 gallon gas can, I guess it can.. hahahaha..

  • omg santa claus is real =o

  • i started making one and im using a guitar neck, can you see any reason why a guitar neck wouldnt work?

  • @classicrocker91 Nope... Seen people do it and it works fine. Makes a great slide/steel guitar kind of instrument. Go for it!

  • Can this be painted? How would paint or varnish affect the sound?

  • @jaybean3573 I 'spect it could be painted. Can't imagine it would effect the sound at all..

  • how much does a neck cost?

and im 70% sure i wont have the funds for it so do you think 3/4inch plywood would be strong enough for a neck?

ive wanted a banjo since i was 12 and never had the spare cash for one.

  • @IEJP I'm sure you can make a neck. A nice old piece of hardwood would be best, but I guess you could probably make one out of plywood if you glued enough pieces of it together..

  • great! thank you for sharing your knowledge...

  • Being from vermont i was wondering if a maple syrup can would work. i have found one on ebay that looks similar to a gas can and i wanted to know if you think it will work. if you want to find it on ebay, it is called Vintage Gallon Vermont Maple Syrup Can Swanton VT. thanks

  • @tompentoney16 Yep it will work. I've got one. It's a great can. A bit heavier than the gas cans. I plan to make a banjo out of the one I've got some day.

  • At 1:55 in this video epitomizes the saying, "One man's trash is another man's treasure" I can honestly say that you and your wife are my new favorite "Happiest people I want to meet."

  • @t1r12003 Thanks. We have a pretty good time. Life is good and there's not enough time to enjoy it all. hahaha..

  • Great idea

  • Well, I gotta neck. Now I need a can.

  • @VinnyMartello you dont have to go on ebay to find a gas can! you can actually just buy some paint thinner/mineral spirits and usually it will come in an aluminum can just like these ones! saves ya time and money even further!

  • How much would it cost fer ya'll to sell me one? Or make one?

  • $200.

  • A Police Officer. As a State Officer, I will shoot you.

    Try that?

  • Is that a 2 gallon can?

  • No it's a one gallon, but you can make one out of a 2 gallon.

  • i was lookin to buy a banjo... but then i think... 'hey. my guitar was cooler since i put it a killswitch, paint and readjustet all by myself... what if i made a banjo?' so i look there... and i will try it! thx man

  • NICE. I'm gonna try to make my first banjo with my spare 1gal mineral spirits gas can. Unfortunately it doesn't say anything cool like "DANGER", it says something sheepish like "low odor" =p

  • I think "Low Odor" would be cool on a banjo.. It fits right in with the banjo jokes.... hahaha.. I've got a mapel syrup tin I'm going to make one out of soon... Let me know how it turns out..

  • very cool can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    i want one!!

  • Nice gas can! *****

  • I've wondered where you get all those gas cans. Good ol' eBay.
