zardak doesn't really look like a great being...since mata-nui is 700000 feet tall and even he isn't as powerful as a great being. if you would listen to my suggestion,i think he could be a makuta servant, or aid. with the power of shadow,of corse.
Well actually, the form we see Zardak in isn't his real form, but his smaller form. His REAL form will be seen in the future (he will be MUCH bigger).
