  • RB5 for 3000 my bollocks

  • I traded my 06' WRX in for a new BMW 135i. Bought the WRX new and trashed it.

The dealer didn't test drive the WRX before making me an offer thank god. It needed a new 4th gear synchro/blocker ring as it grinded no matter what fluid was in the transmission and it

started using oil at 65K miles. I added half a pint of 5W40 Rotella every other fill up.

  • Actually only worth it with less than 50,000 miles on the clock . . . any more and welcome to the money pit of pain! . . wheel bearings . . clutch . . electrics . . 4wheel alignment . . steering . . . brakes . . . if you can find a straight one for that price good luck . . hens teeth are actually found in greater quantity

  • I love this era subaru shape yet I am far too afraid of buying a thrashed lemon.

  • You got to have a mental condition to give away an RB5 impreza. It got sold cheaper than the three track day sedans that got tested in Top Gear (the 190 Cosworth, the M3 Sedan and the Sapphire Cosworth)

  • omfg!!!

  • a mint RB5 give away...damn :(

  • Once again the US never sees any special vehicles like this, such a shame. I need to move back to Europe.....

  • @2slovak0 yeah, but on the other hand, you can buy a 6L V8 and run it for peanuts. Petrol in the UK retails for over 2 dollars per litre these days..

  • Why would you sell a RB5?

  • lol fifth gear is no top gear

  • I love my regular GC, and would hate selling it. If I had an RB5 I'd reather sell my soul lol

  • my auntie had a red one of these with gold wheels. but because it was expensive to run, she changed it into a fucking puke peugeot cabriolet >:(

  • u can get one over here for 3000 but u wouldnt afford the petrol

  • wtf is with his sideburns man

  • I paid £5400 for my sti then another £3000 for the damn crankshaft blowing my engine to bits

  • @Tennant909

    Ouch

  • I would commit serious crimes for that car.

  • WOW! i wish i won that

  • shit if buying any RB5 was that price i would have one haha

  • $3000? Yeah, whatever...

  • @HEKTIC458 Not 3000 US, 3000 GBP. This show is filmed in the United Kingdom which is part of Europe. This sample will probably not go for 3k, but maybe an Impreza Turbo 1997 or 1998.

  • whats that growing on his face???

  • 3 grants?! thats a joke. i will buy it now for that price :P

  • thanks for giving it to me lol

  • does anyone know what build number this rb5 is????

  • Wait.... an RB5 for 3 grand? I doubt it... even in the UK

  • man where the hell do I get one of those because i just love subarus like ones with turbos

  • It's beautiful.

  • The advice about the fully synthetic oil is argueable. If you are changing your oil every 3k like you should with ANY turbo charged car, then fully synthetic oil is just a waste of money. Todays modern coveventional oils are more than capable of handling the stresses of a turbo charged motor for 3k miles. Save your self some money. Additionally, avoid Mobil 1 synthetic at ALL costs with any of subarus turbo charged cars, it is too thin and you WILL scratch your bearings.

  • What a great rb5! These are probably the best ralliers in the market!

  • 3000???? I've never found one cheaper than 19k cdn

  • Jesus Christ. I have wanted one of these since I was 9. Im 15 now.

  • @carveriscool same!!!

  • mine was very sought after?infact they kicked my front door in for the keys while i sat there watching tv

  • gc8 with a gearbox made of choclate!!

  • one of the most sought after? yea it might be good but it is no where near as sought after as a 22B. or a 2 door ver 6 sti. and the newer special editions would be more sought after because of mileage and the bigger upgrades from standard like the spec c type rar.one of those would be nice

  • thank you fith gear but i was rather hoping for an 04 model

  • thats an rb5 no way would someone be so stupid as to sell that for 3000 there pretty rare.

  • You can get lucky, my cousin just bought a virtually brand NEW 2004 bmw m3 for only 4900 usd.

  • @gerfall robbed...

  • @MrMrdavehawkeye That's what I couldn't work out. I've never actually seen one on the road yet! 3000 is outrageous, maybe add another 10,000 to that. Excellent cars but expensive to insure and keep running. I wouldn't change the oil at 3000miles, I would need it done every other month!!! It would ned to be a weekend car maybe on classic insurance, with a tracker and multiple alarms and immobilisers.

  • i want it! plz i need a car plx xD actually come to think of it ill take any car off this show :D

  • stupenda

  • as long as theres no knocks, no big damage, gearbox is smooth, no oil leaks, all the panels and lights are straight and he shut lines are neat, service history all checks out they should be fine. i had one, with a 100k on it from 1994 wagon, fast, and always started no knocks, super car no one ever beat me in a drag brand new saab 2.8 turbo wasted, on the bad side, fuck meeeee does it drink fuel, really truly dont buy one if you a bit tight for cash.

  • I wonder who won this sweet scoob???!!!

  • I've seen this before, but to GIVE away an RB5. Why would you give such a rare thing to a "lucky winnar."

This is a great car, loads of fun, but this car is a legacy.

  • thats y duhh lol

  • @dhrdan What car was a Legacy?? There was not a single Legacy in that entire video !!

  • @3711060 u stupid man... he meant legacy as in for its history and meaning.

  • @carlosbashuertas What history, what meaning and don't call stupid you fucking prick, you can't even construct a sentence. Fuck you! If you bother to read he's already said he meant to say Impreza.

  • @dhrdan no it's not; it's an impreza! sorry, couldn't help myself there.

  • @dhrdan Nope, it's an impreza. HA! I made a subaru joke

  • @dhrdan not literally tho.. cuz thats an impreza! haha! get it? :P

  • @dhrdan

    actually it's an Impreza.

    Legacy is larger.

  • thats the biggest problem with these types of cars, you dont know who has driven them.

why did he say you would need a new engine just because the big end bearings have gone, just do a strip and rebuild on the engine, and sorted

  • Because idiots over rev these cars, or just run too much boost.

Look at all the EJ20K's that fail. There are quite a few. It's just a "be on the look out" type of advice. the UK and JDM cars with those engines DO fail. It's quite simple, but a big problem.

  • true mate..especialy the nuggets out there in there uk turbo's with the standard td04 turbo..that like to rev them past the redline even tho the turbo cuts out at like 6k lol

these cars get the dogs abuse because they are falling in price..but luckily the high running cuts deter retards away from buying them :)

the JDM new ages are reliable tho with their closed deck blocks and forged internals..suppose all new age sti's have solid blocks nowadays

  • Try $4,444.75. the exchange rate is $1.48 USD dollars per pound

  • what he mean is the demand for that car is so high here.. and people are willing o pay up to that much for it...

  • you could get a s2000

  • FAROUT!!!!

I HATE AUSTRALIAN P plater rules

no turbo, no more than 6 cylinders

and no superchargers, and no 350Z's or M3's

nothing good to drive for 2 years

  • yer nothing over 200kilowatt and nothin over a certain size rotary engine,so fucked

  • The rules are great. It means i have 2 years before you losers spin whatever pos you buy into my car.

  • stupid rules, but how the fuck can a P plater afford any turbo sports car? Maybe an older V8 commodore but still..

    retarded laws...

  • what year is this car?

  • 97-00 around that year

  • tanky tanky

  • its a rb5 so its 99

  • That guys sideburns suck. They look like a strap for his chin.

  • Comment removed

  • the only reason it was so cheap is because it was'nt the prodrive model. has anyone seen one of the new subaru's on the road yet?

  • yes, plenty

  • Ones enough for me, I can't really take anymore.

  • arnt' they actually terrible looking, subaru have gone downhill now.

and theres talk of financial problems now!

  • well everone was or is having problems because of the economy and all that. not just subaru.

  • They keep giving away cars!

  • yeah that looked like colins head on the back of the car not richard burns's

  • What about her gaff at right at the end when she say Richard Burns instead of Colin McRae?

  • to danrkelly: um....the car is called an RB5, RB for Richard Burns. I'm assuming the previous owner stuck that Colin picture on the trunk but yeah. This one was dedicated to Richard and not Colin. Im sure a special for Colin will be released later on.

  • Im looking to buy a wrx ive just sold my clio 182..and there are some low milage wrx's out there for 4000..im gunna pay around 4500 for mine.

  • ya want a medal??

  • you wont get an rb5 for 3000 pounds lol one in that condition your talking at least 7000!3k scoob is defo gonna be a shed

  • closer to $9000

  • sadly that is about 3000 pounds (well closer to 7000) but still

  • 3k doesn't get you an RB5. It's misleading saying the 'early models' aka mid 1990s ones.

  • I wish the U.S had these older GC8 imprezas.

  • We got the 2.5RS XD

Subaru just had to give us the bug-eye as our first WRX.....

  • thet's relatively affordable, it's a good car, but really you have to be carefull because lot of people rallyed with it...

  • @gyurika2002 It's true they are affordable no one can beat subaru's great cars they are also good for mileage

  • @gyurika2002 most impreza owners dont treat it like a rally car, its treated like just like any sports car

  • 3000 pounds in us is how much?

  • about 6000$
